I had a Maytag washer that was only 4 years old. After about 3 years it started making a LOT of noise; it sounded like a jet engine taking off. The repairman said it was going out and was not worth fixing; sooner or later it would just quit on me. It also took over an hour to wash an average to small load of clothes. I bought this washer because I didn't want to get stuck emptying a washer full of water and wet clothes. This new GE washer is top load simple AND it doesn't lock the lid (in most cases). I LOVE this washer! It is spacious, quiet, and it washes even a large load in about 40 minutes. A wonderful improvement! I highly recommend it. Also just to note - I have owned a tech-savvy front load washer/dryer; all the bells and whistles. Don't waste your money on those, just more to break down. Delivery was fast and easy too!

If you are looking for a clothes washer with agitator that washes the clothes clean and spins dry, this the one you want. Doesn't lock you out like some of the paddle style washers when you want to add more clothes.

I originally got a cabrio. Whithin 2 days it was returned and I got this one. Best choice I could have made. I have a family of 7. And trust me, we needed a washer with an agitator. I tried to go high tech but they just couldn't handle what my kids could dish out. This washer does the job. And it has lots of wash options. I'm sticking with agitators!

This washer is replacing a 1300.00 whirlpool that was only with us for 5 years. We are a load a day family and don't wash comforters or blankets in our products.
This washer has a surprising amount of room and does a fantastic job cleaning product. My ONLY gripe I could come up with is that it is definitely louder than our other money sponge we owned before this washer....VERY Happy after a month of usage!
Great setup and care was taken by the GEEK SQUAD during install and removal. Couldn't beat the sale price at the time also!

Great "old school" washer

I was concerned with the bad reviews about noise and the washer "walking". Well, DON'T BE! First of all, if you owned a washer in the 90's before the age of front load being all the rage, then you know what a washer sounds like. This washer sounds like that. If you have your washer in a laundry room with a door, no problem. If it functions as the end table in your living room, then yeah, you're going to hate it. Secondly, if your washer "walks" then it was not properly installed. That;s not the washer's fault. Also, I made absolutely sure that if I hated the washer that I could return it NO QUESTIONS ASKED. Best Buy's policy is 30 day returns (45 days for me as an Elite Plus Member). So what are you waiting for? Get rid of that front load HE washer that sprinkles water on your clothes, waves an ounce of detergent over them, and leaves them only microscopically cleaner than they started. GO OLD SCHOOL - this is a great washer at a great price!

I like the way this washer cleans my clothes. It's nice and big and I like the option to use full water. The electronics are a bit buggy and I had some trouble until I read the troubleshooting tips in the instructions. When the electronic controls don't work, just unplug the machine for two minutes. Then it's reset and works again. Sort of a pain and I worry that the electronics could go out completely. Otherwise I'm happy with this purchase.

This has a steel tub, rare find. an agitator another rare find. It larger capacity and has the basic knobs which I like (less to break) to use for all the wash cycle options. It even makes a pretty song when it starts a cycle

This Washing Machine is designed for someone wanting more than just the basics BUT not a ton of extra features like 15 water levels, 12 Spin cycles and 45 assorted "wash' combinations. Don't get me wrong there are plenty of options to choose from but not that many that it can overwhelm one. The newer type of non-agitation wash takes getting use to but does any amazing job and this machine is plenty big, big enough to to a California King Comforter without any problems.

I wanted a basic but reputable washer model and didn't want to pay for bells and whistles I didn't want or wouldn't use. That's why I chose this reasonably-priced GE washer with just the (minimum) features I needed.

Though this washer is high capcity anything heavy will cause it to unbalance. Once unbalanced you cannot open the washer to disburse the clothes but the washer will try to balance itself which causes the washer to move all over the place. I have to leave the laundry room door open so that the washer doesn't block the door to keep it from opening.

GE is apparently so aware that the sounds of this washer are unusual that they include web links and a QR code to get you to a web site that plays the "normal" sounds of the washer. That was helpful to me since I would have assumed these sounds (rather quiet) were an indication of trouble since they are unfamiliar to someone who is replacing a rather old washer.
I like the auto water level, and impressed with the output of rather dry clothes following spin (takes less time in the dryer). Also impressive is that the machine seems (to me) to be sensing unbalanced loads and nonetheless getting them reasonably dry after spin without the machine jumping about.

I’ve had better GE washers

This is not the best GE washer I’ve had but it’s good enough for me. My first load the machine was very loud which I knew it would be because the honest sales associate at Best Buy told me it would be. About the third load it was pretty quite. I like the many wash cycles and the large capacity. It seems to was well and get my clothes clean. The cons on this machine is the fabric softener leaks down the agitator. The first load it was a heavy leak but I discovered that I needed to turn on the fabric softener rinse cycle. The next few loads the leak was very light. That won’t be too much of a problem for me because I don’t use liquid fabric softener often. The other concern is that the gap between the drum and the washer seems pretty big. This is the first machine I’ve owned that looked like this but it has not caused a problem.

The only large capacity washer I was able to find that has a center agitator. If you can fit it in the drum it will come clean. Handles a king size comforter or body length pillows.

This washer is noisy. Doesn't sound like any other washer I have ever had. Very annoying. Washes clothes well, they come out clean. I f I had the opportunity to HEAR it before purchase, I would have chosen a quieter machine.

Got this washer about 2 months ago now. Installation was a breeze. Love the multiple water level settings after running a Front Loader for 15 years. Spins with no vibration (yes, I verified level first). Cycles are so much shorter than a Front Loader. Clothes come out clean.
