Customers regard the UltraPro Bar HD 400 Indoor Amplified Antenna favorably for its picture quality and ease of use, with many also appreciating its compact size and attractive design. However, a significant number of users reported issues with reception and signal strength, leading to some dissatisfaction. While some found the channel selection adequate, others felt the price point was not justified by the performance. The antenna's setup was generally considered straightforward.

Setup is easy, picture is clear, and reception is great most of the time. Not impressed with the small stand that attaches to the antenna because it's not sturdy enough for the antenna to stand up vertically as the picture on the box implies. Had to rest the antenna horizontally on a table, and need to reposition antenna periodically to maintain access. Still happy with purchase--had no TV stations before buying the antenna and now can get 6 channels without the expense of cable.

I have purchased 4 powered indoor atennas in the last 6 years (2 have gone bad). My experience using any of them in a metropolitan area is that the adjustable ears are just better. I have purchased 2 that didn't have the extendable antennas for the looks, including this model, and they don't do the trick. In my experience, the antennas that have the adjustable antennas (bunny ear look/style) work better. I bought this to replace a broken living room TV antenna and it didn't work well where it was located. I ended up placing this one in my bedroom (works good in a different placement) and my bedroom antenna with adjustable ears in the living room and now all TV's work. I didn't return this one because it was only $30 on sale and it does look nicer than most of the antennas out there. That's why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 is that it looks nice, and if it is placed in a location with good signal it will work. I would not recommend this product however. I would either get a less fancy looking one with similar range or get a better model.

Hello Kewball, thank you for your review. We apologize that our product did not meet and exceed your expectations. As the manufacturer, we continuously strive to maintain high quality products that provide complete customer satisfaction.
You are correct; the number of channels you receive will depend on the signals provided by your local stations in your area. This is something we have no control over. You can use www.antennaweb.org to look for the DTV reception maps to determine the available stations and location of the broadcast towers in your area. Then position the antenna where it is facing toward the tower. To ensure you receive the maximum number of channels you may want to experiment re-positioning the antenna. For best antenna reception the ends of the antenna must me fully extended. Place the antenna as high as possible or near a window. Make sure to scan your TV for channels. This is a very important step. Your TV will NOT receive signals from the antenna without doing a channel scan. If you continue to receive poor TV reception, the antenna may be over amplifying the signal. Switch the amplifier to OFF position and rescan your channels.

I was pleasantly surprised how many channels I received. This is a good alternative should cable or satellite go out. Also good for someone who doesn't have cable or satellite.

The GE Ultrabar HD 400 Antenna performed better than could have imagined. It produces 60 crystal-clear channels including all but 1 of the major networks in my area. Performance is outstanding & design is top-notch!

This antenna is great. It is easy to set up and is very sleek in appearance. After having had cable for the past 15 years, I am amazed at the fantastic picture quality. This is a top-quality antenna for that "free tv" many of us are going back to!

We bought this antenna with the intent of replacing a cheap $15 one we already owned, thinking it might offer a few extra channels or a clearer signal. Sadly, it was actually WORSE than the cheap rabbit ears, bringing in fewer channels and offering no perceivable benefit. Returned it. I'll give it 2 stars because it does work, just not terribly well. Save yourself a lot of money and get something cheaper.

Hello Tapper, Thank you for reaching out to us regarding our GE UltraPro Bar Amplified Antenna. We’re sorry to hear that you’re experiencing signal issues with our product. Our priority is to offer complete customer satisfaction for all our customers. As the manufacturer, we are very interested in supplying consumers with a quality product that delivers the expected performance. Anytime we hear problems encountered in the use of one of our products, we want to get involved and resolve the difficulties the best we can. Depending on your location regarding terrain, elevation, etc. and depending on the location of the transmitters for your local stations will determine in large part, the type of antenna required to pull in the stations. Both your general location and the specific area that the antenna is located can affect reception. The distance, terrain and obstacles (buildings, power lines, etc.) between you and the signal tower greatly affect the strength of the signal that reaches you. Where you locate the antenna in the room can also affect the strength of the signal that you receive. In general the higher you locate the antenna the better signal you will get. You can use a website like www.tvfool.com to find the direction your signals are coming from and locate the antenna closer to that direction. If you have any more questions, please give us a call at 1-800-654-8483 option 1 and provide our Support Team with your ticket number 256207. We are eager to work together with you to get the best out of our product and help you with your concerns. We look forward to hearing from you

I live in a bad reception area, but this unit works OK as I don't want to get a super outside rooftop antenna for 1 local channel. I have some reception problems in bad weather, but overall it works as well, perhaps a little better than my old unit and is much more aesthetically appealing.

Went into local Best Buy and asked salesman for best indoor antenna...he pointed me to this ge antenna. Set up was easy...did have to do a little maneuvering ended up putting on top of entertainment center and pointed it towards window. Scanned 38 channels and all locals including fox, cbs, abc, and nbc come in crystal clear with no reception issues. Great cord cutting device!!!!

This is great for very simple plug-and-play use. But whenever I have a blu ray or playstation device on that sits within 5 feet of the antenna, the antenna stops pulling in a signal. When I turn the devices off, it works again. Not a deal breaker for buying this, but something that is helpful to know.

When this antenna works, I'm happy with it. The picture is clear and I'm able to get around 20 channels over the air -- local CBS, ABC, Fox and NBC.
However, my location (Haverhill, MA) is almost out of range of some local signals. I often have to re-scan for the channels and/or adjust the location of the antenna. Also, ANY weather (rain, snow) blocks the signals for me.
Still, I prefer this combined with Netflix and Sling over Comcast.

Directional antenna stated 50 mile range but is marginal at 39 miles. While it looks good, this unit will work better at closer range to the transmitter. We're in the Chicago metro area where the amplified antenna on our motorhome will pull in 30+ channels this one, which is also amplified only pulled in 20 or so and would not get the local CBS affiliate, and that's on a second floor.TV.
