If you want to automate certain lights, outlets and/or small appliances and have a z-wave compatible system, then I would recommend this module.
I am hoping with this particular one it was a fluke, but the range was not what other modules (same exact module) got even after refreshing the zwave network - the common way to get newer devices to realize their place.

Installed and setup in my smartthings hub in minutes. So much easier than installing an outlet or a light switch. I'm using this to control a white noise machine... because I'm way too lazy to get out of bed.
