This game is amazing. I went to a friends house and he put it on for me, well needless to say 5 hours later my hands were very sore :). The special effects are jaw dropping and the characters are very detailed. Action is great, and it also helps that the A.I is very smart so you will not find yourself shooting at sitting ducks. You really feel as if you are in the action. Two thumbs up for this game.

This game is by far the best game that I have ever played! Campaign mode is awesome no matter what skill level you play it on. Xbox live is by far the best feature of this game. There are many levels that you can choose from and they are highly detailed and worth playing. Not one map is considered a "bad" map to me. I would definitely recommend this game to anyone that has an Xbox 360!

An unfortunately disappointing singleplayer experience. The story is shallow and feels largely uneventful in spite of what Delta squad (out heroes) accomplishes at the end and particularly in spite all the action taking place. It should be viewed primarily as an excuse to blow things up and it does succeed to this end. The gameplay, revolving primarily around a unique "cover" system allowing the player to duck and take cover behind a variety of stragically placed objects on the field, feels underwhelming primarily due to predictable A.I. strings. The core grunt enemies will take cover, throw grenades, rush, and flank, but they appear to operate individually often nullifying their attempts at flushing you out. However, it does make for more interesting firefights -- compare with the "shooting gallery" gameplay of Call of Duty. The two other major enemies, Wretches and Boomers (larger grunts with rocket launchers), operating purely on "rush" strings -- they do absolutely nothing other than rush forward. The cover system is a fantastic idea with greater potential than what is displayed here and I hope it gets more appropriate execution in sequels. Online battles are a large aspect of the game and while they can feel sluggish at times, they do allow for making better usage of the cover system and squad based tactics. The game also features multiplayer co-op of the single player campaign, which is, frankly, the only way the game should be played, makes for a very enjoyable experience and the primary reason I give this game 4 stars instead of only 3. Nevertheless, beyond all my griping and complaining (which could be triggered by the unusual and undeserving amount of hype and praise this game has recieved), there's a lot of fun to be had here.

This game took a little getting used to since I had never played one with the controls that work like it before. But once you get the hang of it the game is addicting! I spent hours upon hours playing till I finally won. It wasn't easy at all which I like and the graphics are unreal. I am looking forward to buying more games like it in the future!

This game is awsome! my parents won't let me get it but they let me rent it from blockbuster. I loved everthing about the game. the graphics were completely awsome and if your parents won't let you get you can turn the gore off. that was the big reason why my parents let me rent it and now they are thinking about letting me buy it. Great choice.

Like everyone else says, this game is just simply awesome. I've played the campaign at least 4 times either single player or co-op on every difficulty. The online play took some getting used to, but it really grew on me. It grew on me so much that I had to get the "Seriously 10,000 kills online" achievement. Yeah, it became that addicting.

Gears of War won game of the Year in 2006. On top of that it also recieved a lot of hype by every game magazine. After buying and playing the game I can see why Gears of War won it's awards. The graphics seem flawless and in full HD can really breath life into the game. With A.I. that love to take cover and flank makes the game a great challange. The reason I strongly recommend Gears of War is the dialog of the game. Each character has there own unique personality and it really brings them to life. Yeah the game is short but that is when the online co-op and multiplayer come into play. Try beating the game with a friend online on the hardest level or just face them in head to head combat. Gears of War is a must have title for the Xbox 360.

The graphics of this game are incredible. If you are looking for a good online game this game is for you. I have to say this is my favorite game of all time. The only con is sometimes when you roll you will get stuck on a wall or barrier. Overall this is a great game that I think everybody should buy. !!!!Must Buy!!!!

I have played this game everyday since its release. I have trouble getting off the online play because it is so much fun. I do NOT recommend this to young kids because of the gore and the language that comes from xbox live users but I know that parent really don't care what their kids play! ENJOY THE CHAINSAW!!!!!

I have no regret in buying this game. Most of the gameplay is pretty good but online is much more entertaining. Whether you like to play solo or with a friend, this game is sure to be a thumbs up. Although the graphics were intensely great, they should have put more weapon variations to spicin up the fever.

This game was great since the first day i played it, the beserker is soo scary when your playing it on a 50" plasma tv at 11 at night! gameplay is amazing the multiplayer over xbox live is also fun weapons are great cant wait for GoW2!!!! this was just a taste of what gow2 will be like

This is one intense game! The graphics are absolutely amazing. I was on the edge of my seat through the whole game. Not a bad storyline. The campain was however, pretty short. That is not surprising though. I also did not love how the controls are set up. I wasn't crazy about the x-box live playability of it either. Over all a very fun game! Would recommend!

this game is ok. The graphics and sound are amazing but the gameplay is not all that great. Its also a little short and doesn't take long to beat. The online gaming is fun for a while, but gets old with the type of people online. Its more fun to play with friends utilizing LAN or something.

Gears of War is definitely worth the purchase. It has amazing graphics and a great story. It has 3 different difficulty settings so each time through the game is a fun and new challenge. I would recommend playing with a friend or online as well, the game has great cooperative play.

Games have been taking a severe drop lately. It has been a long time since we;ve had something as good as Mario 64 or the legend of zelda. Gears is a great game because it is so re playable. Most shooters in my opinion are only good for renting, but this is a buy. Campaign may be shorter then you like, but put that difficulty up and play on co-op, and you'll forget to eat for a day or two. Gears requires alot more stragety then your average game. Many levels present challenges besides the traditional enemy that you can only shoot in one spot, because we've all seen that a million times. The story it self contains several metaphors and is enjoyable to watch or play. As if that's not enough, one of the guns has a chainsaw on it, and watching blood splatter all over the screen as you saw a fool is great. The only downside is one on one playing has long gaps between action, but the action is so intense that it really doesn't matter. Just get it. You know you are.

Gears was one of the best games I've played, the campaign mode was so smooth and so easy to follow. It has the right difficulty level to make it competitive but not ridicously difficult. One of the few games I would actually be willing to pay full price for just to get it.

i love this game and would recommended it to anyone who loves to play shooting and horror games. it is filled with blood guts and gore and big guns. it has sweet graphics and awesome gamply to. this is by far probally the best game i have ever played in fact i can't stop

Fun single player and a lot of multiplayer enters this game into the must have category, dont expect an amazing story but it gets the job done while your having fun shooting things, and online play harldy ever gets old, once you get out of your newbness.

Gears of War is such an awesome game. Playing co-op through the story is the best thing about it, just a great game all around. The only thing I don't quite understand was why there wasn't more explanation to what was going on much like Halo.
