I think it would be more helpful when you get a totally new product if they offered a 5 minute tutorial on say, chromebook or how to use windows 8, after you buy it. Once you know you're buying it you have different questions and want to know the specifics of how to use it for your own needs. There's always a line at best buy or if not, not many workers around, so you feel bad for asking. If they would offer the tutorial immediately after purchase, as standard, it would feel better when you need it and they are busy.

Great program, great people
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Geek Squad 24/7 Tech Support program with a new computer purchase for $99 and am very happy with it. They provided a personal set up of the computer and installed the antivirus I chose (Kaspersky). The new computer developed a problem right away and I called the Geek Squad and after going over the problem, they suggested bringing it in. I took it back to the store and the Geek Squad worked with the machine and exchanged it for another new one.Within a few hours the second computer was ready with my personal set up and the Kaspersky installed and has been working perfectly. The Geek Squad people were courteous, professional and efficient. It is really nice to buy a product from a store, and if there is a problem, they are the ones you talk to and they are the people who fix it. They actually deliver the product and it provides a feeling of security. I highly recommend the Geek Squad Tech Support program.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used Tech Support twice. Both times, the "agent" was the same guy, and he was not very nice. Utterly uninterested in helping us without an appointment, even though there were no other customers. We had to make an appointment, stand around and wait, and then go back to the counter. Gah. The problem was a laptop, which belonged to my tearful 12-year-old. The way he talked to her was just awful, and she was crying harder by the time we left. We got the laptop back, and it wasn't fixed at all. It had 3 keys that didn't work (don't spill yogurt on your keyboard). They wiped the hard drive, and the keys still didn't work. We had to take it back, and it was in the shop for another 2 weeks. It was finally fixed, and there was no charge, because we had the ADH waiver. The 2nd time was for the same laptop, and this time it had the "white screen of death". The agent was uncaring again, but at least there were no tears this time. Turned out to have 27 viruses on it, which took about 10 days to fix, but it's working fine now. Again no charge, this time with Tech Support. This week, the same kid dropped the laptop, shattering the screen (yeah, I know, but I'll keep the kid anyway.) I contacted Best Buy and asked how much the part would be, since Tech Support would repair it for no labor costs, but I'd have to pay for parts. $340. Ouch. I got a replacement screen myself for $70 and fixed it myself. So.......if you have an issue that doesn't require parts, Tech Support will get the job done (not necessarily on the first try, but it will get done) for free, and that's pretty great. If your repair requires parts, you might pay a bundle. Hopefully other stores have nicer agents.

Great help for a new Mac user!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Because of my buying a Mac for the first time, and the fear of the unknown, my Geek Squad purchase was a no-brainer. Before I left the store with my new purchase, the geek squad installed my Office for Mac programs, and set up my pass word and had the computer ready for me to begin using. Because of the Geek Squad having this backup help available (in case I really screw something up) it gives me more confidence in using my Mac. I would recommend this service to anyone just learning any new computer system. Even though I live 40 miles away from my nearest Best Buy, I still have 24 hour service with just a phone call. And actually the insurance on your computer should you break it, is definitely worth the cost.

I was expecting a very thorough report of what the technician did to address the laptop issues. Instead, I got very little information. That being said, my daughter has had no further problems with her laptop, and I feel very confident sending her off to college in a few weeks knowing that her laptop has been overhauled. And if she runs into any issues while away from home, she can simply take it to the local BestBuy and they will fix it for her.
