Comes in handy when you least expect it.

The only downfall was there were a few programs on the unit that the agent could not clearly explain why they were there. Overall though, they did the job that I needed and got my PC to good speed and accessibility. I like how you can put 3 devices on the plan, this is a great help. Would have given 5 stars, but just wish the agent could have explained my curiosity on some of the strange programs that were on my PC that I was unaware of.

The Geek Squad is an all encompassing service, that covers not only every issue I had with my PC but also two of my other devices and/or machines at once for a very reasonable price. The technicians and the rest of the service center employees are all very professional, friendly and fast. There's not been a problem they have not been able to resolve for me quickly and it's always been done right the first time. I would definitely purchase this protection plan again and have recommended it friends and family. Thank you Geek Squad for all the wonderful service I continue to receive, you guys are awesome!

bought tech support to remove a wicked virus

Since the service covered a total of three computers, I brought my wife's computer in for a check-up. She was always complaining that her computer was SO SLOW but refused to upgrade to a new computer. Tech support did a normal service and then advised me that her computer had only 512 MB of memory but could support 2 GB at a cost of only $70. Memory was upgraded and wife is now VERY happy! Happy wife, happy life...

Online Chat with Geek Squad Support is great!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.In-store Geek Squad did the initial setup on my new computer. Said it would take 24 hours. I came back the next day, signed in and then waited 40 minutes to speak with a Geek. After disappearing in the back room for another 10 minutes, I was informed that nothing had been done and they would email me when it was ready...probably later in the day or the next day at the latest. Got an email two days later. Went to the store and waited about a half hour. After a problem finding my computer, it was located, and I was sent on my way. However, when I encountered a couple of problems that I couldn't figure out, I called the Chat Line and was absolutely amazed at how prompt and professionally by problems were handled. Now, I'm a big fan of the Geek Squad -- Online only. I'll stay away from the in store hassle like the plague.

A lot of money and service not fulfilled

The procedure I was told was paid for was not completed. This caused me to call and drive extra trips (I live in another town) to the store because it was not done. They did not offer any compensation for this time and trouble. Best Buy has been my favorite store since they opened, but this was a very disappointing and time consuming transaction. To be clear, the procedure was completed, but not without stress, time and gas. Also, the automated calling system told me my computer was ready to pick up but when I called to double check, they said it wasn't. I called because I made a special trip before to pick up another computer after being called and it was not ready. That system really needs to be fixed.

Luv the Geek Squad!

After calling the local computer guy who advised me to buy new. That HP's are known for over heating and that it sounded like the mother board had fried. Well not knowing much about the tech world we consulted our kids on what to get (laptop v.s. desk top). We decided on a laptop, but kept putting off buying one. We had been told not to go to Best Buy, but there was nobody to answer our questions @ the other stores. We left and went straight to Best Buy, sure wish we would have stared there! We purchased a laptop and Geek Squad Tech Support membership (which had also been bad mouthed by some computer guys). And furthermore they might be able to fix my old laptop, under my Geek Squad Tech Support membership. We couldn't be happier!!!
