Hopefully i'll never need it, through the life of my new laptop; but if i do, it was a good deal at the time you purchase a computer.

Excellent technical service and my problems were solved. However, there were several problems with renewal of the service that caused commercial delays and errors. Integration of renewal of Kasperski security software was full of commercial errors, delays and product identification problems. Also, the complete look and feel change of my desktop and operating options caused a lot of delays in getting back up and running as well as some data loss.

I love the Geek Squad. The people at my local Best Buy know me. They make all of my computing issues so easy. I would not buy a new piece of computer related equipment without adding in the Geek Squad. They give me confidence. Here is a true story. I have a new puppy who is still in the chewing stage. One day I left my tablet on a low table and the next thing I knew the puppy had chewed it up. The tablet still worked, but the screen was cracked. I took that tablet back to the Geek Squad to get a new screen. Without any questions, the Geek Squad replaced my damaged tablet with a new one. When I come into the store Geek Squad, I am now known as "The Lady Whose Dog Ate her Tablet." Now, if they could only help me to train my dog...

I'm basically a computer geek. I learn on my own. I haven't had a need for this service. If you're not techy this service is for you.

    Quick and to the Point

I like the Geek Squad, despite their initial explanation always being the same for every problem--a virus caused it. I am not sure they try very hard to do the minimum necessary to solve the problem. In three episodes with two computers, the result has always been to reinstall Windows from scratch to the detriment of settings, downloaded programs (whether or not installed yet), and they never tell you what exactly was the problem or its cause.

Geek Squad is my go-to source for computer and software problems. Usually they are very quick but this time were a little slow. They solved my problems completely but in doing so, installed a browser that I did not want installed and gave me very little information about a different security package. I agreed to this package beforehand but only for expediency. I was slightly annoyed but will continue to use Geek Squad whenever I have a problem.

I was treated like a friend by Ben at your Hutchinson, Mn location.he knows his job and explained everything to me in terms I could understand. He was greeting other walk up customers and answering the phone while others were behind the wall laughing loudly. He never got flustered. When I picked it up however the service was lacking in promptness, curtesy and friendliness. She wasn't rude just distracted or didn't want to be there. Anyway a refresher in customer service wouldn't hurt. I tried to tip Ben but he wouldn't take it so I wanted to make sure I sent this with a big thanks to Ben!

    Opt for the GeekSquad protection

In general, I would recommend that everyone go ahead and pay the extra bucks upfront for the GeekSquad protection if you buy any device over $500. I would suggest the 2-year plan for laptops because they notoriously have issues just after the manufacturer's 1-year warranty expires. Also, I had an accidental spill on my laptop, it couldn't be repaired, so the protection allowed me to get a comparable replacement product with no problem.

Geeks did a reload of Win XP after something was messed up and I could not do a restore or a reload of XP. I had to bring unit back to get the video driver download and install. Still have a problem with headers not printing for some emails. New Trend Micro seems to be working. This new version of TM does not tell me how many or how big each up date is. Was not able to get credit for 8 months of unused time on prior Trend Micro subscription.

In thank-you cards, the phrase, "I wish I could offer my appreciation to you personally", frequently appears. We cannot gauge how much sincerity exists in those printed phrases, but we know how deeply we value and appreciate the, “Efforts” agent, “Geek Squad Supervisor, AL”, have shared for us. His home visit knowledge of how to "FIX" our computer problems, were excellent. Please know that this note serves as our warmest ,"Hugs of Gratitude", and is given with most sincere thanks for his professional efforts. They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them. We will never forget this employee ... Mr. & Mrs. Redreddot :+)

I think that it is well worth the money, the only problem that I had at the store when I bought the bundle was that the tech were to busy taking care of customers that were coming into customer service line. I was told several times when the line went down they would get to me I stood and waited for 30 minutes before I was helped, once they got to me they did a good job on setting my computer up the way I asked for it to be done.

Geek squad members are typically knowledgeable and helpful. Most are very professional and will explain how they can help you and what actions will be taken to resolve the problem. It would be nice to have a technical rep assigned to your issue and have them work with the user on a one-on-one basis instead of starting with one technician and going through others during the entire process, but overall they have not disappointed.

I have a 3 year-old Dell laptop with 500 gigs of hard drive and 5 gigs of memory, running Windows 2007 Home Premium. It's a good laptop for my needs. When my laptop crashed, The Geek Squad restored my laptop to brand-new working condition for less than half the price I would have paid to buy a new laptop with the same capacity. Further, I get to bring in my wife's laptop and my son's desktop for the same as-new restoration as I received. If I took each computer into any other repair shop, the price for repair of all three would be 2 - 3 times as much as I paid The Geek Squad. And, the guys are super knowledgeable, but talked to me in lay-man terms I understood without all the computer-speak. I'm very happy.

Problems upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 8

Recently my old desktop computer finally died. Fortunately, all my data files were backed up on an external USB hard drive. The dead computer was about 7 years old. It was running Windows XP and ancient Office XP Pro. I bought a new desktop computer running Windows 8 and Office 365. I had multiple problems bringing in the backed-up data, including Outlook data files and Internet Explorer favorites. And there many other issues. The Geek Squad technician patiently worked through all of the issues and found solutions for almost 3 hours in the wee hours of the morning. When the sun came up, my new home office computer was up and running. I cannot praise the Geek Squad too highly for the help that night.

The Geek Squad Service is excellent. The techs are mostly kind, patient, knowledgeable, friendly, and polite people. The downside of going to a BestBuy store for their help is the wait to see them. Often fewer than an ideal number of techs are available. If the problem requires up- or down-loading anything from the Internet, such as storing and retrieving data from iCloud, the wait can be intolerable (I.e, up to an "estimated" 10 hours). That is because the wireless support network in the store is incredibly slow. Fortunately, the techs can be very resourceful and get around the problem (to get it done in 30 minutes). Even though one can spend 3 hours getting helped, in the end, at least you go home happy.

I was not as impress as Best Buy would like me to be. After, purchasing the tech support, I found out it would not recover my letters and programs data that was on the hard drive, I would have to pay extra for that, and also, they do charge for extra things that may be needed. They do not clean the back of your computer where dust has accumulated.. But basic repairs are alright.. I would recommend it only to older people.

The laptop that we needed scrubbed and updated took in inordinately long time to have service performed on it, and we were called in to the store twice to pick it up, only to find requested software downloads to not have been performed. The "geeks" at the counter seemed confused and unaware of how to fix the problem in a timely manner, and we were left sitting, wondering what was going on, for 10 minutes on one occasion.
