Not worth the cost

Geek Squad may be good, don't know yet

First time 1st person knew nothing and xferred me. by the time they ansered (10 minutes or so) I had fumbled onto something that resolved the prob so they could not look at my pc. to see what caused it. 2nd time was wifi dropping and I asked if they could check settings since it kept sauying to check for a driver update... they asked questions instead and decided it was an ATT proble. ATT came out and changed a router setting per a bullitin but I still drop wifi, just not as ofter. Perhaps I will take it into the store and try and wait while they look it over. Not too impressed yet for the money I paid for coverage. Several years also had a bad experience with walk-in support on a desk top. They need a MAYBE for "would you recommend to a friend" below...

Great service

The staff is excellent; knowledgeable, friendly. The service is a little pricey, but once you need it, you are sure glad you got it. We have been very pleased with their service and would recommend it to anyone who buys expensive, high tech equipment.

Good value for money spent

The Hard drive on my PC (Not the one purchased at Best Buy) crashed so I had in in for repair. I had trouble loading webroot on my purchased lap top and they loaded it over the phone. When I received the repaired PC, I inadvertently loaded a program and unfortunately it was viral. The Geek Squad cleaned up the computer over the net, they also loaded webroot at the same time. I feel that the program is very cost effective, as it would have cost me more money just to have the computer diagnosed by a computer expert.

Computer is adequate for what I want

For example: Instead of having everyone stand in line for all services, have three lines--one for returns, one for tech questions and one for Geek Squad expertise. Now everyone has to wait for the slowest of these(Geek Squad Expertise) when their questions or concerns could be handled quickly.

service for computer

When I could not get it to work took it Best Buy because it was purchased there, on several occasions for the same problem. They did have to send it back because part of hard drive was missing

Ok support
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this just in case I got a virus on the computer. but the computer I purchased had windows 8 and since windows 8 is not for the technology advanced I wanted to down grade to windows 7, the agent tried to talk me out of it saying that they do not recommend it. I know they were just doing their job but just because I purchased the tech support does not mean that I am not technology advanced, and do not appreciate being talked to like I do not know what I am doing or talking about. since the computer I purchased did not have a cd rom drive on it I wanted them to install some software for me. they said they would but did not and when I picked up the computer I checked to see if it was installed and had to wait even longer to while the agent that was checking out installed the software. other than that great service if you look past sometimes being talked to as if you do not know what you are doing and the agents forgetting to install the software you ask them to great support

AWSOME teck support
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have "old" I'm talking old computer & I recently purchased the geek squad teck support with out realizing I was able to fix any 3 electronic devises so with that I brought in one of my computers that I never threw in the trash thinking one day ill get it fixed, will I was embarrassed to take my old 1999 computer but did any way & "oh B Darn " These Geak Squad techs SURE did fix it.. Man let me tell you I was BLOWN away!!!! Best warranty I've EVER PURCHASED.. And the cool thing about this experience was I was always notified by email as they were wking on it & when it was done..

Great services from the Geek Squad
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've never had problems with a computer before, but the newer more advanced one I bought endured heavy use, which use made me lose my hard drive twice. (Either the use, or they suggested since it went out twice it needed replaced as it probably was defective from the beginning. Nice to have the Geek Squad save what they could from my files. It was expensive at first but it sure saved in the long run. If I had to pay for all the work and parts replaced it would have cost more than the computer in the first place. But it was pennies on the dollar to what it really could have cost.

Still have some issues
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I paid $200. & still having issues with : your not connected to the internet keeps popping up everytime I turn on internet explorer,I have to click on this statement a couple of times then click on Fox sports a couple of time to connect to Fox sports, this has been going on about a week or so getting the computer backk from the Geek squad.Any suggestions.

Good but slow service

I wanted to give authorization to fix, but they wouldn't take it; said they would have to run diagnostics on it. There was, apparently, nothing else to do, so I was told I would probably have my answer by the end of the day, but really I had to be told 3 days. 5 days later I came in to talk about it because I didn't have a call; magically, at the same time I had an email saying to contact. Whatever. Anyway, they replaced the hard drive, rebuilt the OS, and I didn't have to, just had to make 3 face to face contacts to get it all done. I bought the $200 contract to deal with my kid's old laptops; if it gives me back a few hours on the weekends its worth it. Just wish I was the priority, not the service contract.

I got Nate, and I apologize, I can't remember all their names. I wrote them down but lost my notebook.I will not hesitate to recommend the WHOLE GEEK SQUAD. Each one is knowledgeable, handsome, listens intently, know what the problem is DOES IT RIGHT. I'd like to mentionArlene the front desk lady. Very helpful too, goes out of her way to help. THANK YOU SO MUCH AND I AM SO GLAD I DID NOT GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Rescued me from an inept neighborhood geek

He subsequently fixed it himself. Biggest disappointment in the service is that the in-home Geek was not able to connect my computer to my husband's printer, as we had enjoyed before all this melt-down.

Money can buy peace of mind
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wouldn't dare walk out of Best Buy without buying the protection plan and tech support, it's the best money you'll ever spend. I've only had my HP laptop for a month and I've already used the support twice. I was having problems with the wifi connection on my new laptop, I called tech support at midnight, they went in remote and diagnosed the problem and fixed it..all while I slept. When I woke the next morning, the tech was still online to explain what he had done to correct my problem. As I said, I've only had my laptop for a month and this plan has already paid for itself.

Had some challenges with getting old computer repaired and info transferred over. It took too long to get all of it done and every time I called the store, I talked to someone new and had to re-explain everything. The 24/7 call I made was very helpful too. All the agents were helpful and friendly.

Way overpriced, but good to have for accidents
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really wish Best Buy would just sell Accident Protection and not force the Geek Squad stuff on everybody. 75% of them have no clue what they're doing, anyways. I would suggest researching other warranty companies before deciding on the Geek Squad, especially if you're pretty good with computers and just want accident protection.

Should have purchased this protection years ago

I purchased the Geek Squad Tech upport at the same time I purchased a Laptop for my son. I do not know the corect terms and their meaning when trying to fix things on my desktop, so it's frustrating not knowing if I should make a specific change or the ancilliary ramifications of making a change. Having the Tech Support available to make the changes necessary to get my operating system running properly is invaluable to someone like me.

Decent service, friendly agents.

The online progress tracking was never updated from the day they received my computer but it was finished sooner than they quoted. They couldn't retrieve my files from my hard drive but I'm sure they tried (refunded the retrieval cost). Good experience and would use them again.

The products and the service has always been outstanding. The Value is excellent. We have bought Big Screen T.V.s and Cannon Copiers and Fax and surround sound speakers and Blue Ray DVRs from Best Buy. We are members of the geek squad. When we walk through the entrance of best buy ...................we already know we made the right choice where to make our purhases.

Support from the Geeks

I had some difficulties with my new computer, which I was able to exchange for another one, as it seemed to have some kind of defect. During the process of exploring the issues, I had the Geek Squad work on the computer remotely, which was a great service. The are available 24/7 - so when I was going nuts with problems I had needed consultation and the remote help. They also installed my software for me and later gave my newly exchanged computer a tune-up after some use. Very happy with the service.
