First, this is one of the most gorgeous Steelbooks. Slide off the provided plastic slipcover and underneath is a matte metallic paint colorful image of the ghost that wraps around the back. It's a true display piece. Now, for the picture quality. Sometimes 2D animation doesn't benefit much from HDR and the highlights seem to alter the original intent of the material. Not so here. It is just enough of a bump to make the highlights give the image a more three-dimensional appearance. I compared this to the recent 25th anniversary Blu-ray and this is quite an improvement. The Blu-ray seems muddy in comparison. Believe me, if you want to see this film in its best presentation, and you should because the art is incredible, this is the disc to own. Speaking of the art, there are special features on the 4K disc, including a look at the backgrounds used in the film. Obviously, I highly recommend this release. Credit to Best Buy for the quick delivery. I opted for standard shipping. I ordered early in the morning and the item arrived the next day! I was overjoyed.

Sometimes they say its the ultimate version. But it's often not. This version of GITS is the one every fan needs. Truly beautiful.

A fantastic 90's cyber punk classic. Great blend of CGI and traditional animation. Ground breaking movie. Does not star ScarJo.

Visually it is stunning and a must watch. If you want to see something to get you into anime... this is the one to watch.

I bought this mainly for the bonus features since I own the remastered Japanese Blu-ray. The picture is good, though not as good as the Japanese BD. Still, it's solid. The subtitles are accurate unlike the previous North American Blu-ray. The subtitles match the Japanese Blu-ray and the North American DVD releases. Unlike the previous North American Blu-ray, there aren't any missing sounds. The bonus features are pretty entertaining. The commentary is kind of fun if for no other reason than to hear the adaptive scriptwriter tell the story of her meeting with the film's director. I'm impressed that the old US trailer was remastered and included as a bonus feature. All in all, this is a solid release.

This was worth watching. Really like the extras in the 25th Anniversary edition. Very entertaining.

Had to get this copy of Ghost in the Shell, as this remastered version is a must own as a blu-ray collectible.

I bought this purely for the Steelbook. I love the movie and would recommend this to an fans of GITH.

I'm a big Ghost in The Shell fan so it was only right I added this to my collection.

Picked this up on since I haven't seen it in a decade or so. Great to see on blu ray!

This movie is stunningly beautiful, and intellgent story telling of man and machine.

If you are a fan of Ghost in the Shell, then you will love this movie, I know I do.

For any fan of dystopian sci-fi or cyberpunk from Blade Runner to the Matrix this is an essential film in terms of examining our relationship to not only the world wide web but questioning what it means to be human in the midst of advanced technology. Now in the age of emerging VR and a constant state of "connection" to the web Ghost in the Shell is more relevant than ever. The new 4K transfer with HDR really pushes the hand drawn animation and CGI elements to the max and gives viewers a whole new experience combined with totally immersive lossless surround track featuring the classic score by Kenji Kawai. It also helps that the steelbook is beautifully designed with a layered approached making the slipcover and front art function together. A must own.

I have watched this movie multiple times, and it never gets old. I have an older copy on blu-ray, but this copy comes in a beautiful steelbook case, possibly my favorite steelbook in my collection. Not only that, but it's also both blu-ray and 4k. When it comes to the quality, despite being a 25 year old movie, the animation still holds to this day, and will look even better in 4k. The only difference with this version is that the end credits song is different. Other than that, it still has the special features (except that two of them are on the blu-ray disc and not the 4k disc). Overall, I had countless times to own another copy of this incredible film, but I'm glad to had waited to get this steelbook. Ghost in the Shell is a classic.

This is the most definitive version of the film you will get as of now. They did an amazing job with the transfer and didn't go crazy at all with the DNR. You still see a slight touch of film grain here and there which is a good thing. The HDR is solid and the does job, especially with the muzzle flash on guns. What's amazing is the audio switching. If you listen to the English track with subtitles and then switch to the Japanese audio, the subtitles change as well. That is an amazing touch right there. Overall with all the extras and the audio commentary this package is amazing for the price. Keep in mind that the digital code is for VUDU and Fandango(In case you didn't know about Lionsgate, Paramount & MGM not being part of MoviesAnywhere)

Fantastic movie, Steelbook art is outstanding, all around great product.
