I'm an employee of Best Buy, and I used this on a truck camping, (overlanding) trip in a National Forest in Minnesota in March. We're trying to use traditional gas generators less to reduce sound and air pollution.
I left it plugged into the vehicle on the way there to make sure it was fully charged by the time we setup camp. There was not enough daylight to try charging via solar.
It worked great for charging phone, watch & drone batteries and lighting around camp. We're also moving to electric, (lithium ion) chainsaws so it's great for that too. The build quality seems high and the interface is very slick and easy to use. The cold weather, (it was below freezing at night) did not seem to effect it's performance.
This model is NOT powerful enough to run heaters or refrigerators or other small appliances. You would need to get a larger unit to power things like that.
This technology is really cool and I think these types of units can replace a lot of gas generators for camping.

Silent but Heavy

This baby is quiet and lasts for a while when fully charged. It is slightly on the heavier side but the build reminds me of carrying a small cooler. The LED screen is by far my favorite feature because it allows for you to view Watts vs. Volts and provides you with insight as to how long the battery will last with the items you have plugged into it. Pricey but I think it is worth it since power goes out in my area during the winter because of ice.

Not a great owner's manual!

The product is an amazing feat of human engineering, however with that being said with no real owner's manual or options for adaptors to use with other solar panels. This makes it real tough to score this product. This product is not for the average consumer, they would need to know something about solar.

Just got my yeit 500, its fantastic. Plenty of charging ports. I changed my cellphone, tablet and battery charger. Never went below 80. Its lightweight, easy to us. For my money this is the best portable power station. got 2 , one for me and one for my brother.

First things first, yes, Goal Zero is a little overpriced. But, you are getting what you pay for. This thing is a BEAST.. Was charging two laptops, one Nintendo Switch, an iPad, a Galaxy S10+ and a Galaxy S10 with no problems at all! I am still shocked with how incredibly well-built it is and feels. Another reason why I went with Goal Zero is their customer service. I've had to call them twice (regarding a different product) and they were able to help and honor the warranty. Which brings me to my last point, warranty. Goal Zero offers a two year warranty if you purchase this Yeti 500x through them or an authorized reseller, like Best Buy. Very very happy with the Yeti 500x I can't wait to see what Goal Zero comes out with in the future!

Versatile. Display is useful, providing information on power draw from various outputs (12v, USB, and AC). All can be switched on/off independently of each other. Charging a bit slow with included AC charger. Cannot charge from DC 12V from car without additional accessory. Solid and well thought out. Cannot completely power off, so the parasitic draw just sitting there with nothing plugged in is approximately 5-10% per month (when new). Pressing the power buttons for the display only turns off display. USB-C PD 60W does indeed put out 60W measured by Macbook Pro, USB-C Power meter, as well as device.
Taking off 1 to 2 stars due to following. Big negative, barrel connector for 12v DC input/output is not a standard 5.5mm barrel plug. Worried about longevity of inverter AC outlets as they feel flimsy and may not hold tight after repeated use. Spacing of AC outlets tight for power bricks. Not sure about lifetime of actual battery pack/cell and whether they will be user serviceable/replaceable, otherwise, unit unit becomes a big expensive brick after several years.

It’s a yeti. Love the design. Not as big as I imagined. So far so good. Just need more time to test it’s limits.
