I hate this camera. I have a lot of Google home and Nest products so I figured, might as well get the nest cam when I was looking at security cams. First of all the picture is SO GRAINY, poor color, poor quality, not that great in dark either but even in mid light. Besides that, it can really only go on the magnetic hold one way, otherwise the image is upside down, so then when you're nailing it up you have to make sure that right where it twists on will line up exactly how you want your camera to point. Would much rather have a camera that I can adjust to rotate instead of having to unscrew it and nail it back up in the position I want if it's slightly off. Setting it up in the app was a pain too, the nest app wanted you to set it up in Google home app and Google home app wanted to use nest app, but got that working - trick is, when you say Google product it doesn't find it but then you can skip your other products you have and scan it. You can't say works with Google and select nest because it will give you that loop instead of letting you scan it. Anyways, my biggest gripe is not being able to adjust it and the quality of camera so I'll be returning for a diff kind.
Hi there, thanks for being an advocate of our Google Nest products. We're sorry to hear about the poor experience you're having with Nest Cam (Battery).
Video quality for Nest Cam (Battery) may be affected by different factors. Here are some recommended steps that may help improve the video quality: - Clean the lens with a soft cloth that’s made for cleaning optics. Dust, thumbprints and dirt can cause poor image quality. - Turn your camera so that any nearby surfaces or objects (like a wall) are out of view. - Use the Google Home app to zoom and enhance and crop out surfaces or objects that may be causing glare. - If you see a bright white shape along the edge while everything else is too dark, there might be a surface that’s too close in your camera’s view (like a wall). Angle your camera so the surface stays out of view. - Move nearby objects that may be reflecting the infrared light.
If you will allow us, we'd like to delve deeper into the reason that may be causing the video quality issue and be able to provide you with a better experience. You can always contact our support team via the Google Nest help page: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Camera has good quality, and easy to install. Problem is it only stores up to 3 minute snippets of videos for up to 3 hours. When you’re sleeping, and something happens, let’s say at 1am, and you watch it online by 4am, it’s gone! Dummest waste of product I’ve ever seen. I’ll be returning!!!
Hi NorCalmama, thanks for sharing your feedback with us. We're sorry to hear that your experience with your Nest Cam (battery) didn't meet your expectations when it comes to storing videos. Your Nest Cam comes with 24/7 live view and 3 hours of free event video history. For a continuous video history, you would need a Nest Aware Plus subscription and that your camera be wired for continuous power, both are sold separately. If you're willing to give the Nest Cam another go, please contact us on our Google Help page and let us help you improve your experience. Footage Erased After 3 hrs - Camera is Useless

Regret this purchase. The camera works fine, but footage is only saved for 3 hrs unless you purchase an overpriced subscription, so the camera is basically useless. If someone breaks into my car overnight, that footage will be gone by morning. Unless you plan to go all in and buy a ton of these cameras, which is the only way to make the subscription price worth it, don’t bother.

The wireless option to an already good camera. A must have for those places that getting power is hard to do.

At first the camera was great. Unfortunately, within 4 weeks, we’ve had to charge it twice. This is unfortunate when other cameras offer much better battery life. We chose nest because we have two thermostats, outdoor cameras(corded), and nest hubs. However I’ll be returning this camera.
Hi Samantha, we really appreciate your feedback on Nest Cam (Battery), and we’re sorry to learn of your disappointment that you’ve had to charge it twice within 4 weeks.
Battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life of your camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. This link might be helpful: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10901611
Here are some typical scenarios. Busy: About 1.5 months battery life (about 20 - 25 recorded events per day) Typical: About 3 months battery life (about 9 - 12 recorded events per day) Quiet: About 7 months battery life (about 2 - 4 recorded events per day)
If you still have to charge the battery more often than you’d like, consider connecting your camera to a power outlet with the included or optional power adapter. Connecting to continuous power will keep the battery charged. Please note that the power adapter included with the Nest Cam (battery) is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use and you can use a compatible weatherproof cable (sold separately).
We understand your decision to return it, but if you’d like to consider using the Nest Cam (Battery), we’re always here to help improve your experience: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Terrible. One camera worked while trying to figure the right place to hang. The other camera had to be attached to magnet to find the proper location.
Cams wouldn't trigger until the person was well past my vehicle. Sometimes the cams wouldn't trigger at all. 1 battery was draining really fast
Hi there, thanks for letting us know about the issue. We're sorry to hear that your other Nest Cam (Battery) wasn't working.
Your camera runs algorithms to process video and audio data so it can determine whether it detected something you might want to know about. If your Nest Cam (Battery) isn't able to recognize people and trigger notifications, you might have to move your camera, change your camera’s angle, or change something in the scene so that you don’t miss important activity. We also recommend getting the Nest Aware subscription and get Intelligent alerts to give you better awareness of what’s happening around your home. The battery life for your Nest Cam (Battery), is affected by factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. It's important to check the frequency of events (per day) that you get with your Nest Cam (Battery). If the short battery life isn´t related to the frequency of events, then we may need to have a closer look at your device and understand what may be causing it. This camera is a huge step backwards from the older one. Whenever I wanted to see anything on the camera I had to go into the app and turn the camera on. I did not get any alerts that there was movement or people there. If they keep these and get rid of the older cameras it looks like I will need to find a new set of cameras to use. Sad I had such high hopes for these.
Hi Sloey316, we appreciate your feedback. We´re sorry to hear about your disappointment with the Google Home app and Nest Cam (Battery).
We wanted to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, and Google Assistant. It offers you a lot more benefits since you have access to Google´s security features as well. If you´re willing to try, you may set up your other Nest cameras to the Google Home app. Here´s a guide that you can follow to set up your Nest cameras on the Google Home app: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9893532
Nest cameras determine when something moves based on how much an image changes over a short period of time. So, your camera may not send an alert if the following is true: - The activity is out of your camera’s field of view. - An object is blocking the camera’s view. - The camera is very far away from the activity. - The lighting in the scene is dim or washed out.
To troubleshoot the issue, we recommend moving your Nest Cam (Battery) by changing your camera’s angle, or change something in the scene so that you don’t miss important activity. If the issue still persists, please consider contacting our support team for further troubleshooting and isolation of the issue here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp
