Overall this is a good camera. The issue is with Google. Nest app is an amazing tool for smart homes. This camera cannot be added to the nest app and only can be viewed from Google home. Google home is a terrible app. Unfortunately this is enough to steer away from this camera.
Hi Serdar, thanks for posting your feedback about Nest Cam (battery). We do apologize if you’re unable to add it into your Nest App.
The new Nest Cam (battery) is exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience. Our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, and Google Assistant.
Your feedback is important to us as it will greatly help us in improving our products and services. If you have any questions or concerns, you can always reach out to our support team. We’d be more than happy to help here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

I've happily used NEST cameras for over 10 years. I have 7 cameras. Lighting struck, and fried one hanging on my detached garage. I bought the new Google/Nest camera 2 pack. Turns out, Google only allows these cameras to be viewed on their Home appbh no longer on the Nest app that has all my other cameras. That's nuts! You can't even view all of your cameras' feeds simultaneously anymore.
I'm returning these and going with a new brand. My current Nest cameras are old and I was planning on swapping them out for newer versions once they failed. No more. Thanks guys... for ruining a good thing.
Hi Danpam1024, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the new Nest Cam (battery) didn’t meet your expectations.
Our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, and Google Assistant. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. Users with older cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Cams. Our team is working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app so all of your cameras can be set up and controlled in one place.
We value your feedback and your satisfaction is what drives us in improving our products and services. If you need help, please feel free to contact us anytime through this link: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

This Nest camera does not work with the native Nest app. So, if you already have other Nest products or cameras- too bad. Nice camera, dumb marketing and execution. I would give this a zero star if I could.
Hi KPol, thanks for posting a review. We regret to hear about your disappointment with the new Nest Cam (battery).
Our priority is giving our customers choice and making devices for every home, and we’re continuing to support the Nest App. New Nest cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience. Users with older cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams. Our team is working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app, so all of your cameras can be set up and controlled in one place. Also, using the Google Home app provides you with a lot of benefits including access to Google's trusted security platform and access to other Google tools and with seamless integration with other Google devices.

No complaint on video quality or viewing angle, but disappointed I cannot view 24 hour video history like I can with my indoor nest cameras, Even though I pay for the subscription service
Hi Danny, thanks for reaching out. We're sorry to hear about your disappointment with the limited support for the 24/7 video recording feature. We’re not moving away from 24/7 video history. Our goal is to give users, like you, more choice. With event video history, we wanted our products to help you understand what’s going on at home easily and highlight the important activity for you. If you want to see everything that happens at your home, we offer 24/7 video history on wired Nest Cams with a Nest Aware Plus subscription. We continue to invest in the use of both technologies. When setting up a zone for motion, people walking or vehicle in the zone it will not record. It does it when it feels like it I would rather buy wired cameras NVR instead of wifi cameras. F+ for google in this one.
Hi WirelessBeats, thanks for the feedback you shared about the Nest Cam (battery), and we’re sorry to learn of your poor experience with the recording feature.
If you’ve set your camera to record and save specific kinds of events in its video history, your camera will detect and process any relevant activity it detects, but will only save footage of events you’ve enabled to the cloud. Also, a big Activity Zone captures more activity. In general, the smaller and more precise the Activity Zone, the more accurate your camera’s alerts should be. Try to experiment with the size and placement of your Activity Zones to get the effect that you want. You might have to move your camera, change your camera’s angle, or change something in the scene so that you don’t miss important activity.
We care about your experience. We'd be happy to help and guide you with structured troubleshooting steps if you can visit us whenever you have time here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

I was sold the wrong camera (battery instead of wired). I questioned it several times but was assured I was given the right camera. Got home and called the "Tech Team" to verify. The first 3 people couldn't seem to comprehend the difference between wireless battery and plugged into 120 volt house current!! After 45 minutes and finally a 4 th "expert", I was assured this camera would work. Since I am a total tech member( what a waste of money), it was to be installed free. The service tech wasn't there 5 minutes and told me I had the wrong camera. The service tech was great, the store and phone service personnel are poorly trained, management deficiency. Service tech commented that he runs into this often since it has been outsourced.

This WILL NOT work in the nest app. All nest cameras made by google starting in 2021 are not compatible. They force you to use the Google Home App which is absolutely horrible. Buy Arlo instead. It’s the new Nest.
Hi Aventura, thanks for your feedback on Nest Cam (Battery). We're sorry to hear about your disappointment with the move to the Google Home app.
We wanted to make the Google Home app the one place where you can control all your favorite Nest devices and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. Here are some benefits you can get by using the Google Home app with your Nest Cam with Floodlight: - Automatic security protections such as Suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification and Security Checkup. - Your Google Nest devices and services will work together. For example, if you have a Nest Cam and a Nest Hub, just say, ""Hey Google, show me the backyard camera” to cast your camera stream to your display without any additional setup. - One account to sign into both the Nest and Google Home apps. - Your homes and home members will be aligned across the Nest and Google Home apps.
If you already have some Nest cameras installed in your home on the Nest app, you may transfer them to the Google Home app. Here´s a guide that you can follow: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9893532

Cameras do not capture events very well, even with turning up all the settings. It’s even hard for them to connect for me to view live events. Nest Aware Plus claims 24/7 of these are plugged in, but doesn’t record. Big disappointment from a Nest product.
Hi Vijay, thanks for providing us your feedback on Nest Cam (Battery), and we're sorry to learn that its video resolution is below your expectations. Pixel count is only one factor that impacts video quality, and it shouldn’t be the only deciding factor when choosing a camera. Nest Cam (Battery) has HDR video quality, up to 1080p at 30 frames/sec, that’s optimized for a clear view in bright sun or dark.
We greatly appreciate your feedback as it helps us better understand our customers’ preferences and needs. For issues with the performance and features of the Nest Cam, please let us know and we’d be happy to help you, here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Nest cam dies way too quickly. Had it for 1 year. It only will work if it is plugged in at all times. If unplugged, will only last 2-3 days at most until it dies.
Hi there Julia, thanks for letting us know about the issue. We're sorry to hear that your Nest Cam (Battery) dies too quickly. Battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. Users can extend the battery life of their camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Here are some typical scenarios: Busy: About 1 month battery life (About 25 - 30 recorded events per day) Typical: About 2.5 months battery life (About 13 - 16 recorded events per day) Quiet: About 6 months battery life (about 2 - 5 recorded events per day)
It's important to check the frequency of events (per day) that you get with your Nest Cam (Battery) and the temperature in your area. The battery life of Nest Cam (Battery) may have less than half the life that it has at temperatures close to -4°F (-20°C). If the short battery life isn´t related to the frequency of events or temperature, then we may need to have a closer look at your device and understand what may be causing it. This version is inferior to previous product in several ways but mainly due to the fact that you can’t have all feed recorded as you used to, only events. Also not accessible through nest app, so can’t see all my cameras from the app any more
Hi Guille, we appreciate your feedback on Nest Cam (battery) and we're sorry to learn it has not met your expectations. We’re not moving away from 24/7 video history. With event video history, we wanted our products to help our customers understand what’s going on at home easily and showcase the important activity for you. If you want to see everything that happens at home, we offer 24/7 video history on wired Nest Cams with a Nest Aware Plus subscription. Does not record all incidents for me. Have had 12 hour gaps where I had activity. You pay for long term retrieval which comes to your email and can take up to 4 days. Not reliable.
Hi Omar, thanks for contacting our support team. We´re sorry to hear about the negative experience you are having with the connectivity and video recording issue on Nest Cam (Battery).
We recommend checking for possible congestion in your Wi-Fi network. Removing some of your connected devices can help free up some bandwidth space. You may then check to see if you will still experience the same connectivity issue.
Video recording can be triggered by motion detection on Nest Cam (Battery). These can also be affected by changes in the light level, and shadows moving across the frame like when a cloud moves in front of the sun. This also includes other movements within the camera's field of view like trees or bushes swaying. If you're not getting any alerts or notifications, we recommend trying out the steps below: 1. Change the Activity Zones on your camera. You can delete your existing Activity Zone and create a new one in any area within your camera's field of view. Just make sure that none of the zones you create overlap. 2. Change the angle of your camera and account for the lighting in the surrounding area. 3. Restart your Camera.
We'd like to help you troubleshoot the connectivity and video recording issue further on your Nest Cam (Battery). If you´re willing to try, please contact our support team so we can provide further assistance using this link: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethel

Hi there, thanks for the feedback that you shared about the Nest Cam (Battery), and we’re sorry to hear that it didn’t meet your expectations.
Our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. Our teams are working on enabling the ability to set up and control older Nest cameras in the Home app so users will have one app to control all of their devices, and we’re working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app as we want to create an integrated experience with other Nest and smart home devices.
