Not worth it

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Dissapointed....We had an older nest camera that was plugged into a power source, so it recored all the time. This one does not do that and only records when it sees activity, but it's not that reliable. Even when there is activity sometimes it doesn't record, especially at night. I will be looking into a different brand of camera soon.

Not compatible with the older version of NEST so I have to use both apps. Best Buy doesn’t even offer a 30 day return window. It took me two weeks to install them and now I’m stuck with them.

We appreciate that you liked using the Nest app. However, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. We wanted to make the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your favorite Nest and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. The new Nest Cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with other Google Nest speakers and displays. Here are some benefits you can get by using the Google Home app with your Nest Cam (Battery):
- Automatic security protections such as Suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification and Security Checkup.
- Your Google Nest devices and services will work together. For example, if you have a Nest Cam and a Nest Hub, just say, ""Hey Google, show me the backyard camera” to cast your camera stream to your display without any additional setup.
- One account to sign into both the Nest and Google Home apps.
- Your homes and home members will be aligned across the Nest and Google Home apps.

Motion detection on Nest Cam (Battery) can be affected by changes in the light level, and shadows moving across the frame like when a cloud moves in front of the sun. This also includes other movements within the camera's field of view like trees or bushes swaying. If you're not getting any alerts or notifications, we recommend trying out the steps below:
1. Change the Activity Zones on your camera. You can delete your existing Activity Zone and create a new one in any area within your camera's field of view. Just make sure that none of the zones you create overlap.
2. Change the angle of your camera and account for the lighting in the surrounding area.
3. Restart your Camera.

My son suggested spending the money necessary for a good quality easy to use camera. I did purchase the cord so no need for battery charging. The magnet is extremely strong. The pixel quality is great. It even picked up a cat during the night.

The wireless capability was perfect as i was installing these at a property i am flipping. It gave me the flexibility to post them without having to worry about the cord being cut. Only have had to recharge them once a week so far and that has been a major help.

The quality of the video depends on the available bandwidth from your internet connection for streaming live video.
