Easy to install and with great instructions, in fact the best instructions my husband has every seen with any product, which includes the product talks to you as you install it. The people at Nest have thought of everything completely, including design, construction, and ease of installation, even the base plate contains multiple screw holes to accomodate placement various electrical boxes.

You have to be near the unit you are setting up to have your phone see it but was easy to do. Biggest issue was naming them as they are installed already in a new house build and I had to guess which QR code was for what unit. I guess correctly otherwise I am sure I could rename them. Also used as a night light for people.

I am slowly building my smart home BZ. and this was one of the first additions. It's simple easy to setup up and works with SmartThings using nest manager smart app. The night "pathway" light is great for my daughter when going to the bathroom at night as this sits in a hallway between 2 bedrooms and in front of the bathroom. I will be buying more to replace my other legacy smoke detectors

I have purchased 6 of those to replace my basic wired ones. I would say they were kinda expensive specially I have three more to change, but yet it’s worth it. I was sick of the basic alarm detector by going off mid of night cause of a battery issue or device failure. My kids get scared and non stop crying, but with these new hi Tech ones, I don’t have to worry cause it alerts you on your cell with any issue before it goes off. No false alarm anymore and remotely you can watch your house being safe. Defitnely I would recommended but hopefully they can knock the price down.

Super easy to install and comes with nicely packed components. Does come about a year into the MFG date which means I effectively only have 9 years left on the life span before it has to be replaced. Easy to view on the app and the night sensor light is a nice touch (almost makes me want to have it in all my hallways!)

Easy to install and easy to use app. Has more features than I expected. The night light function is also a nice added feature. I have vaulted ceilings and probably the biggest feature is the ability to test the alarm from my phone. No need to haul in a big ladder to reach the alarm button anymore! I intend on purchasing appliances that work with the app when I remodel the kitchen.

This has got to be one of the easiest setup/install products I have ever had. It takes about 4 or 5 minutes to setup and 4 or 5 min. to install. The nightlight feature is really great, lights the way in the dark just fine. I would definitely recommend this to everyone. I like the fact that if the alarm goes off it tells you exactly where and what the problem is in a voice that is easily understood.

I have replaced all of our old, wired, Smoke Detectors with the 2nd Generation Nest Protects. Just the ability to be notified when the battery should be replace is worth the price alone, however, the Nest Protect offers so much more. The "connected" setup is easy to complete and installation was quick. I would absolutely recommend this product even if you feel your Smoke Detectors don't need to be replaced.

If you consider esthetics important, then you will like these. Also like the night light feature. Safety is always worth paying a little more for. If we are away we can still know if there is an issue through the Nest app or if you have a home controller like Wink. We purchased six of these hard wired units to replace the original detectors. Super easy to install.

This is aust have in the home. Conmects directly to the app, does safety checks for you every month, sends alerts directly to your phone, and doubles as a night light.

Great product combines smoke and CO alarms. No more guessing how much battery life remains - can see anytime via the app and via status check when we turn off lights for the night. Runs full self-check monthly and automatically provides evidence that it was done. Has built-in motion-sensor night-light. Can see status remotely. Only slight negative is night-light is a bit dim.

I am very happy I got this Smart Smoke/Carbon Monoxide detector. Beautiful design, it check itself to make sure it is working correctly and will alert me if anything. At night it will light up my way with a smooth light if I happen to walk in the area we installed. You will get monthly report of any activity and you can get a discount from you home insurance for having one. Very easy to install.

Been using for about 6 months and had multiple opportunities to test during cooking mishaps. Very reliable. Responds promptly with an alarm that is very noticeable without being too scary. Notification system via the Nest app has also worked every time. The dim glow it emits in the dark is quite useful in the hallway I have it mounted in. Wish it would be integrated with the Google Home app but that's supposed to be coming in an later update.

So far everything is working great! The setup was very easy and straightforward. I bought two of them and I love how user friendly it is. The main reason I bought them was for my pets. I wanted to be able to know if there was a fire or smoke at home if I wasn't there. So far I love them! Also, I love the nightlight feature! It detects motion very well and you can adjust the brightness.

I now have 5 Protects and one Nest Thermostat and am pretty pleased with them so far. I have integrated them with SmartThings using community device handlers to get the best of both systems. I was hoping that the protects would be ok for a location near my kitchen (as they are photoelectric) but they are sensitive enough to go off from cooking bacon. They are very easy to silence from the app, however even when silenced they trigger lights if you have that integrated. I will be moving that unit farther from the kitchen as a result.

It was very easy to set up and looks neat and clean upon installation. A few days after the install, it alerted us after a bit of smoke coming from one of the contractor's tools doing work in our homw. We were able to see as it activated cameras and we could control it from our places of employment, including us silencing it. Very cool!!

I have seven Nest Protect Smoke/Carbon Monoxide units. Five of them are wired and two are battery operated. I also have the Nest Thermostat. Prior to purchasing them for my three level home, I had five wired/interconnected smoke detectors. When one would detect smoke at its location all the units would sound the alarm. I had no idea which unit was detecting the smoke and had to travel to each one on every level of the home to find the problem and reset the alarm. Now with the Nest Protect units if one of the units detects smoke you'll first hear a voice from each unit say for example "Heads-up, there's smoke in the Kitchen.The alarm my sound.", I'm able to go directly to the unit/area to see what the problem is and correct the issue. Additionally my SmartPhone receives a notification that smoke was detected in the kitchen. This has proved to be a terrific feature. These units come with a built in night light that come on when you approach them. When there's a fire, inhaling smoke can be just as dangerous as the fire itself. If you have a fan in your heating and cooling system and Nest Protect detects high levels of smoke, the Nest Thermostat can shut off fan-based systems to prevent smoke from circulating throughout your home. They also detect motion and can be used to determine if anyone is home. Nest Protect enhances the Auto-Away feature of a Nest Thermostat by improving Nest's knowledge of when you're home or away. In some homes, the thermostat may be installed in an area that makes it difficult to detect if you're away, such as an alcove or low-traffic hallway. Or, if you're working from your home office but your thermostat is in the living room, it may think you're gone for the day. If you have a wired Nest Protect, it will use its occupancy sensor to detect your presence and tell your thermostat so it won't turn down heating or cooling. Battery powered Nest Protects also help improve Auto-Away, but they'll update occupancy sensor readings less frequently than wired Nest Protects to conserve their battery charge. This is a great product, but it is expensive and that is my only negative comment.

Easy to install and set up. Looks well and functions great. Love that it links to my nest thermostat and can cut off my furnace if gasses are detected as well as tell my lifx bulbs to flash then stay on in a real fire to help us escape. The path light feature is great. You can select to have it light the way at night like a night light when motion is detected.
