I saw these featured on "This Old House" and did further research before deciding to buy.Coupled with my Nest Thermostat, this is a very powerful addition to your smart home.Easy to install and looks great in your home. The coolest feature on a day to day basis is the little pathway light it emits when you get near it in darkness.

Works great. Setup was easy and linking the 2 in the app was simple. Nightlight feature is a nice touch to help light the way down a hall. and its loud! exceeded my expectations for the high price point. Hopefully it lasts for 10 years to help justify the cost.

I have three of these now in my home (wired versions) and appreciate the peace of mind that they give me and my family. I definitely wouldn't call it a necessity over a standard smoke detector but I like the additional features such as the night light and the integration with my nest thermostats to better determine when we are home or away to help better conserve energy in our home. Setup was a little troublesome...I couldn't get my S7 edge to connect via the app and finally after over an hour of fruitless troubleshooting and internet searches I figured out that I had to manually enter the SSID from the back of the protect into my phone. I connected the phone directly to the signal being broadcasted from the protect and it ended up working. I couldn't seem to find that info anywhere or maybe I just missed it somewhere during setup. Once I got through that they have been running on cruise control since and I love being able to check all my nest products from one app.

Very easy to set up, the Nest Carbon monoxide/smoke detector offers peace of mind. Unlike traditional devices that just beep, this gives an audible alarm with advance warning. So if smoke is building because you burnt some food, you can silence it before it goes on full blown alarm mode. The night light feature is a nice bonus.

This took about all of 10 minutes to wire in and install and about 5 minutes to setup with my nest app. I like the thoughtful features like the path light and it's easy to locate what room has a warning or alarm. I have about 3 "dumb" alarms left and when I caused a bunch o f smoke in my house recently, the dumb alarms didn't do anything, yet the master bedroom nest a floor away gave me a heads up warning. I will continue to add these in until I have the entire house configured with them. the only downside is that these don't act as temp sensors for the Nest thermostat I have.

I got the wired version, followed the instructions. Set up with installation took less then 10 minutes. Worked well with my nest account and existing nest products. (Automatically shuts down your furnace when CO levels begin to rise, etc). Night light feature is a nice touch, and probably only other useful feature (unless my house burns down)

I replaced a smoke alarm with this product and I have to say that I am impressed. I highly recommend to watch the videos on the website of the company who makes the product BEFORE you attempt installation. This will help you decide if this is something that you can do. Integration with my other products was smooth and easy.

We needed to add some new smoke detectors in our previous home and came across this option from a friend. Now we just moved to our new house and we had to get them again. Not only are they easy to install and use but they double as a motion sensitive night light. You can't go wrong with these.

I bought this to replace an existing wired smoke detector. Setup took a few tries to get the sequence right, but installation was easy. I already had a nest thermostat, so I just had to add the protect to my account. The silence button is large and easy to turn off if you burn something in the kitchen. The device also has a motion activated night light.

My old smoke alarms did not have CO detection and were not connected to any outside party. The Nest Protect makes me feel a little better knowing that CO is being monitored in my child's nursery and that it will notify me audibly and through my smart device. The addition or the night light and integration with IFTTT makes this a great product.

Got 4 of these to replace my old wired ones that were installed in the 1990s and in the wall plug CO detectors. What an upgrade! The wiring was simple and how they work is fantastic. They talk to each other wirelessly vs. the red interconnect wire. I also like the app that shows my thermostats as well as these detectors. Totally worth it!

I purchased three of these to replace old, ugly, annoying smoke detectors that go "beep" in the middle of the night and takes you twenty minutes to track down and figure out which one it is. The Nest units have the added safety feature of CO2 detection. The units were packaged nicely, contained everything that you need including a base plate, screws, wiring harness and even the wire nuts. The instructions were very straight forward and easy to understand, and the installations took just a few minutes each. Seriously, it took me waaaay longer just to figure out which circuit breakers turned off the juice in the rooms I was working in :) The units set up quickly and easily through the Nest app, they talk to you and announce their assigned name so you know which unit is affected, and the app tells you their status. Overall, I am very pleased with the units, and would not hesitate to recommend them or buy them again. In fact, I plan on purchasing their doorbell camera. Buy it, you will not be disappointed.

Easy to set up an install like the features. Night light is pretty cool too it’s definitely more pricey than others but for the smart component and features. Divided over 10 years it’s not that much money I think it’s worth it

Very easy installation. I’ve owned the original version which has expired after 10 years. I liked it so much I bought two more to replace expired detectors. Works great with the app and the back up battery never had to be replaced.

The smoke alarm was easy to install and appears to be working. It's hard to truly evaluate a smoke alarm without a fire but I like how this looks and the tests indicate it is working well. I like the nightlight feature. I plan to replace the others in my house with Nest smoke alarms as well.

We've committed to the Nest smart home line of products with their respective security system, cameras, and fire alarms. We could not be happier with the intregration of the units. However, this is expensive for a wired alarm but the features and peace of mind make sense for us.

We now have 2 Nest combination smoke detector/carbon monoxide detectors and are very happy with them. They are reasonably easy to install, and I like that they are hardwired so we don't have to worry about battery changes. They act as a nightlight when motion is detected as well, which is a nice feature.

Very happy with the Nest Protect smoke detector. I bought these to eliminate the nuisance of alarms sounding due to known issues like cooking smoke. Installation of the wired model is easy if you have existing junction boxes. I made the mistake of also purchasing some of the battery-powered models, after I learned that the wireless alerting between the two types is compatible. I reasoned that installing the battery versions would be even simpler. Not so. Turns out that the batter model uses a different baseplate, which is not drilled to fit junction boxes. So if you are replacing wired alarms, don't make the same mistake! At the price, it's a big investment to outfit an entire home, and I wish that the lifespan were greater than 10 years, but I'll worry about that when the time comes.
