Great unit does not go off accidently. It also has an app so if I burn something in the kitchen I can turn it off with the app. Expensive but good.

I am slowly replacing all of the smoke alarms in my house with Nest Protect. They provide a number of advantages over regular smoke alarms. 1. They test themselves regularly and let you know if they aren't working correctly. 2. They talk to you if there is a problem to let you know where it is so you know how to get out of the house safely. 3. They communicate with my Nest Thermostat to turn off the A/C if there is a fire so you don't feed air to a fire. 4. They provide a nice night light that detects motion and turns on to help guide you in the dark.

I replaced all of my smoke detectors with the Nest Protect. Very easy to install. We like the other features of CO2 detector along with the night light.

Simple to install and setup. Knowing that these test themselves daily and that id receive notifications in an emergency makes me feel so much more at ease leaving my cats home while I travel. Great product, no complaints.

For a smoke alarm they are little pricey but what you get for the price is peace of mind and are very easy to install and set up. They all link together and the night lite feature is great, They also connect to my Phillips lights to warn you of an alarm and so you can also see your way out of the house at night

I'm slowly converting all of my smoke alarms over to Nest Protects. They install in less than 5 minutes! They are much better than standard smoke alarms - First, they are also CO2 detectors. Additionally, they test themselves monthly and let me know if there are problems. They talk to me to tell me where the alarm is in the house so I'm not trying to home in on a screeching tone. They will notify my Nest Thermostat to turn off the HVAC so the airflow doesn't spread the fire. Finally, they have a nice night light glow that helps me get around at night.

Easy install and app friendly. Everything in the box needed for a seamless self install.

I did have some delay with connecting to my WiFi but it did work after a few tries. Do your research first and get the correct model to work with your home. Assuming your wiring is compatible and WiFi works eventually you should be very happy with this. It's very nice to be able to check my home status from my app when I'm away from home. It's also great to be able to run a manual test from the app; no need for a ladder to press the button directly on the unit.

This detector is easy to install and setup and it works flawlessly. I love the nightlight feature. Just a really good product.

install and setup was a breeze, this one last 10 years versus the 1st gen only like 7 years

I have these installed all over my home. It is great knowing these self check themselves and are really easy to setup. I love the audio prompts of what is happening (when smoke is detected, where, and the early warning there may be an alarm). The night light feature is great when walking around at night, it is bright enough to illuminate the floor where you are walking but not too bright to wake you up if you are groggy and on your way to the bathroom.

Love it! Mine are hardwired. It checks itself. It detects CO2, smoke, and fire. It learns, which is helpful in a kitchen. I can control it from an app, and get notifications if something happens when I am away from home! Worth ever penny!

Its pretty easy to install considering it came with the wires and wire nuts. Setup on the Nest app was also easy. Sucks it doesn't work with Google Home as well. The nightlight it provides is great. Helped me a few times at night.

Love how this integrates with my Nest thermostat and I can control everything with my iPhone app! Super simple, great product, worth the money!

This might be a slightly early review as we have been using it for about a month now. Previously we had regular CO detector. Not that it was not working -- we felt sometimes even when we roasted / toasted breads -- it didn't pick up smoke. We were sure the old one was working as it used to chirp that 3am sound when it went out of battery. Only once it did actually sound. As far as Nest Protect -- I would say it is quite sensitive. It's placed in hall way and just about few 8ft away from one of the baths. Few weeks back we had hot water running and some steam escaped and Nest actually picked up and started beeping. Few days later -- we had some grilled veggies on kitchen (15-20 Ft away) and had some smoke. Nest protect picked that up as well. Would gladly recommend to anyone who is planning to buy Nest. Installation is pretty easy.
