I bought two of these for my house. They are simple to install and set up. Once you connect them with the app and internet they will work as one unit. If smoke or carbon monoxide triggers on the other will automatically alert you. You get notifications on your phone once connected to the app, gives me a sense of security knowing if I'm not home I'll get a alert of what is going on

This is an excellent smoke detector. It has already shown itself to be much less likely to throw off false alarms. I love that I can remotely check on it and that it does self test regularly, rather than just hoping that plastic box on my ceiling will work if there is a fire, or excess CO2. The only thing I would like to see is HomeKit compatibility, but you can't have everything.

Lots of improvements with 2nd gen Nests

We bought these to replace a couple of older Nests in the house. They seem to have a lifespan of about 6 years. We had replaced another one in the house with a 2nd generation and we couldn't get our older ones to connect on the network. We talked to Nest and tried all of their solutions to no avail, so we just sucked it up and bought a two-pack while they were on sale. They connected easily and are honestly better than the 1st generation (for one, to replace the back-up battery, you do not have to unscrew the back like the older ones). When you power on, you have to select the language - I missed "English" and hit the button on Nest too late and accidentally selected Spanish. You cannot reset it, even if you do a master reset. You have to follow the instructions, set it up on your Wifi and change the language through the app. It was doable, but just something to be aware of! I'd caution trying to use 2nd generation if you have other 1st generations in your home...seems to create some issues.

I purchased and installed two of these in my home and I have never had more peace of mind during work and vacation that my house is safe. Every night the detector does a checkup to ensure it is working properly and the nightlight is a nice feature, although mine is hardwired I imagine that it would drain the battery operated version. Overall great product, and I would buy another one.

These are a little pricey, but I like the security it gives you by being able to monitor your home while you're away. Also, a small feature I love is the pathlight. After turning off the lights in my house when going to bed, this lights the way. Also great for guests, as I have one between the guest bedroom and bathroom, so it lights the way if they get up in the middle of the night.

We bought this smoke detector to avoid loud alarms while our newborn is sleeping and with the app I can silence the alarm from the kitchen. This is a life saver. Also I LOVE the night light feature so I don't have to turn on the hall way light when I'm gaming late and need to make it back to the bedroom without turning any lights on.

Overall I've really liked this product. Silencing the alarm when it's a non-emergency and the path light make it a worthwhile purchase. However, set up was a bit difficult and if you change routers or passwords you have to do it all over. If more of the set up was through the app it would be a much more intuitive process. However, once it is set up, it really is a great product.

I have these throughout the house and I love them. I know every single time my wife messes up a grilled cheese sandwich. Great product that actually does make me feel just a bit safer knowing they're there. The nightlight feature gives off a really nice subtle glow as you pass by them.

Yes, Nest products tend to be a little pricier than competitors but they don’t cut corners. Fire and smoke detectors are the most important security monitor in your house, a fire is substantially more dangerous than burglary. The nest protect works like a champ and one of the best features that can be over looked is the night light feature!

I have 2 of these connected with a nest. I love the safety features. When combined with a nest thermostat, it will turn off the HVAC. Which is huge, so that the fan doesn't fan the flames. It gives subtle warnings when there may be an accidental alarm. The night light that is motion activated is just a bonus, but can be put always on or off. It also has degrees of brightness.

This is the fourth wired Nest Protect I have installed in my house. Installation was easy and these are very reliable in terms of functionality. Thankfully I have not had a fire in my house to really test it. I really appreciate the Nest app. My only wish is that the app did a better job of alerting me when the smoke detector goes off. Luckily this has only happened while cooking so I am home at the time, however the notification, in my opinion, needs to be more prominent.

Tired of trying to figure out which fire alarm was blaring in the middle of the night and trying to figure out if I had to worry about smoke or carbon monoxide. Bought 8 to replace throughout our 3 story home. Love them. Easy to install and set up. Our guests have loved the motion activated nightlight.

I’ve been using these for years, just had to replace one of the first generation because I was getting false alarms, I like this newer design, the function seems to be great. The wiring connector and mounting plate were different than the first generation but it was an easy transition to make.

I like the fact that it is a smoke and co2 detector, was able to replace 2 units. Also since it checks it's self status, which you can check on via the app, you always know if it is in proper working order. it is mounted in a hall and I really like the motion activated night light for when I'm getting out of bed at night I can see around without having to turn lights on.

This alarm was purchased to replace an older one that gave up the ghost after many years of service. Stuck with Nest because it had worked so well in the past and we have other Google home devices. Appreciate how easy it is to set up and they provide everything you need, including batteries!

I really like this detector. I got the wired one and it was very easy to wire to the existing detector. Love the light that comes on at night in the hallway. Don’t think I would want the light coming on in the bedroom. I just bought one but I’m going to replace all in the home. So buying 5 more...

I'll start off the review saying I have had a nest thermostat for 2.5 years and I have loved it. With that said the fire detector is the same. I like how you can use one phone app to control both and since it is placed near my kitchen, i can use the app to silence the alarm before it sounds the alarm (which scare my dogs to death). Many great features for under $100.
