Easy to install and Connect to each other. The night light motion sensor is very nice. Happy with them at this point. Much more costly than the alternative but hopefully they will do their job properly if ever needed.

Best Smoke detector on the market!

These smoke/carbon monoxide detectors are the best. Being able to monitor/test/acknowledge issues from a smart phone makes it easy. I have tall ceilings and it's nice to initiate tests or to quiet it from my phone. We had an issue with smoke in the kitchen - note the detector is not in the kitchen, but in an adjacent room - and it started warning of the smoke. It didn't go off, just warned that there was smoke. I also got the warning to my phone. When this occurred, I raced downstairs where my wife had a fire in the oven. I was able to assist her with putting it out before it spread. I really appreciated them ability to acknowledge the warning as I ran down stairs to prevent it from going off because loud noises scare my dog. Another feature I love is the auto testing once a month or the ability to do it myself. I'm able to schedule it or force it to happen when we take the dog out to avoid duress for him. It also acts as a good reminder so I can be sure they are functioning correctly. It's hard to justify a whole house full of these - I would need 9 - $900, but I did replace 3 of ours - one on each floor.

We were hesitant to spend this much on a smoke alarm, but it had neat features that kept us interested. We had some people working on our HVAC and they were using a torch on the copper pipes. This alarm in a bedroom down the hall detected the carbon monoxide and alerted us on our phones, as well as all of the other alarms in the house. While we were aware of the situation, it was comforting to know that this detector was watching out for us. There is also a neat feature where it lets you know of a concern before sounding the alarm. When we forgot our food in the oven, we were alerted with a gentle chime and a voice telling us that there was smoke in the kitchen. We then had a few moments where we could click the notification that it sent to our phone and silence it before the siren started whaling (and keeping it from sending our puppy into a major panic). There’s also a feature that makes it light up if you walk under it at night. We have one in our hallway and it provides a nice path light for those midnight bathroom breaks. Best of all, it frequently runs self checks so we don’t have to wonder!

The installation for Nest products is easy and setup is just as simple. I have two Nest Protects and they talk to each other. It's not just an alarm going off, they will talk to you and tell you if it's a fire or Carbon Monoxide and which unit is sensing it. Sends alerts to your phone via an App as well. In the event of fire or Carbon Monoxide event it works with the Nest Thermostat to shut down the heat and fan to prevent it from spreading. This is a very well thought out product.

I am always impressed with the user friendliness, ease of use and looks of Nest products. This product does not disappoint...setup is easy and quick, detects easily, also functions as a night light and quickly accessible via app. Its a bit hard to tell how effective the detection levels are but time will tell. Much advanced than the traditional detectors which uses abbreviated codes and beeps that no one understands if there is a real issue or not.

got two of these to replace older hardwired smoke detectors in my home. i wanted combo hardwired units and liked the nest protects smart features; instead of beeping that batteries are low it’ll tell you via voice and phone prompts. installation was pretty easy hardest part was dealing with an an awkwardly in the way ceiling fan and figuring out which breaker my detectors were on. recommended especially if you have nest thermostats in your house.

This smoke detector is great. First, it was easy to install and set up. I like the app where you can see the smoke detector is working. It also tests the unit periodically for you. That does not mean you hear the alarm but only a small chirp. You can look at the app and see everything is working after the test. Finally, this smoke detector can even shut off your air conditioner and/or hot air system in the event of a fire.

These were so simple to install and connect via the app. Really gives me some extra peace of mind knowing I have notifications at my fingertips if I am not home and something were to happen. Setup was so easy, installation was easy as well. I did strip the wires does a hair further to fit better in the wire nut. I would definitely recommend the hardwired versions if you are trying to figure out what you want to get. I did have a false alarm from my bathroom last night, the steam from the shower went out into the hallway when the door opened and set it off, luckily it does let you know before it goes off completely so I could silence it! I think it will learn after a few times that it doesn't need to go off. I will update if I continue to have this problem but I am not anticipating that! I definitely recommend you get this! If you are going to spend the money on new smoke alarms, pull out a few extra bucks to get something you can rely on!

It took a while to decide whether or not to invest in these as they are expensive. However, they have been great so far. The installation is easy and programming it to the app on your phone is very easy too. The best thing about them is knowing you will always know if one is going off at your house. The app on your phone will let you know if they are going off and you can silence them from your phone as well. I would definitely recommend these!

This completes the full update of my home from old detectors to the Nest smart detectors. 9 in all. Not a cheap upgrade, but it is an investment in my family's safety and my peace of mind. I didn't know detectors should all be replaced every 10 years, so we were actually about 5 years late with the old ones. Got our money's worth, so spending a little more on these was OK with me. Plus so easy to install and monitor.

Before buying the wired Nest detector, I read many reviews of this and other models of detectors. This one was the over all best. Installation was easy. The alarm is suppose to last 10 years. I was wondering how I would know when it stopped working? During the setup it explains there is a weekly voice test message from the detector that tells if it is working right. I only bought one Nest and today I'm going to buy another one for a different area of my home

The installation of this product was very easy. I was worried that my older non-smart smoke alarms which are interconnected but you can just cap the interconnect wire (per instructions) and be good - no issues. Night light is good (I installed at top of stairwell) and it automatically turns on at night when lights are turned off. The app does seem to drain my phone battery if you let it access your location though.

This is a great product, (a bit pricey) however it is easy to install and hookup to the nest app. It checks itself 400 times a day to make sure all components are working and even 1 a month does an audio test and is sure that all alarms are working together. The best part is I can get alarms and warnings to my phone, thus I know if either alarm is going off and only my kids are home, could not do that before! Overall great product that works great with the Nest App.

Upgraded our old smoke detectors to the Nest Protect. Love them. Particularly like the little ceiling night light that you can activate so that you can see your way in the dark, if you like. Also, really like the integration with our other Nest devices and internet connected items. Lastly, appreciate that it ‘self-checks’ regularly so that it won’t generate that annoying chirping in the middle of the night like our old smoke detectors.

I bought the wired version to replace an old detector in my hallway and installation was really quick and simple. The app was easy to setup and I can see both my Nest Thermostat and Nest Protect at same time so can easily check on both statuses. My favorite feature is the nightlight which is adjustable and comes in handy when coming home late. No issues so far, I have run the test a couple of times and it is loud enough to reach my second floor bedrooms.

This is my third one. As the old style ones in my house expire (10 years) I am replacing them with these Nest protects. Sleek, clean and solid. People think they are speakers haha. Super easy to set up and love the price of mind that when I'm gone my pets at home are protected. I get an alert if there is a fire, check my cams and alert a neighbor to let my dogs out. I can open my garage door from my phone as well to let them in, or doors if needed.

There are many options out there for fire alarms that cost far less. However, I found it worth it to invest in the Nest Protect. I do own other best products and this integrates with those. So I can see what Nest protect is in which room all on the same app. What I personally like is the ability to know exactly where smoke would be coming from. If I were to be on the fourth floor in the middle of the night, it would say “there is smoke in the living room” which would help me in quickly thinking of how to get out of the house and what area it’s going from. I have two small children so this would be helpful. The other day someone was cooking in the kitchen and didn’t place the fan on. The smoke began to accumulate out into the hallway as a result. I happened to be working but saw the alert in my phone starting that smoke was accumulating but not necessarily that there was fire. It also alerted me that smoke was clearing shortly after (bc they opened a door and let out the smoke). I also happened to have a nest camera in that area of the home which made it easy for me to open my phone, turn to the camera on that floor and in that room and know that here wasn’t a blazing fire. I then called home to make sure that all was ok regardless. There is also a little added bonus of a night light that comes w it. At first it’s very faint but you can adjust the brightness. I can go downstairs in the middle of the night for a glass of water and not really have to turn on the lights because the alarms start softly illuminating the walk way.

My family and I bought a house a bit over a year ago, and I immediately bought a Nest thermostat and loved it. I had considered upgrading to the Nest Protects too, but couldn't justify the $120 per price tag. On Black Friday however, the price came down to $100 and I decided to get one to try. I now have them throughout the house. There are a few things that I think make these great and make them worth the extra money. In no particular order: - It's nice that these connect to one another without needing to wire them. In my house, the basement wasn't connected to the rest of the house before, but now they are. It would have been almost impossible to run a wire to connect these, so just having it happen is great. - It's nice that it tells you when the power goes off. This was something that I didn't even think about it doing, and it's nice to know if you lose power when you're out. - At night, if it senses movement, it will turn on a really dim light. This light is dim enough for me to vaguely see the walls, but not bright enough to wake up people. When I would sneak upstairs after the kids went to bed, I used to use my phone as a flashlight and worry I might wake someone. Now I don't need to. These features, only one of which have anything to do with the main regular function of the devices, work so well for me that I am more than happy with paying the additional cost for these detectors over the standard ones that I had. If you're on the fence, take the plunge on one and check it out. You may be as pleasantly surprised as I was!

Nest Protect are great products. A little pricey but you get ten years out of them. The peace of mind of having them interconnected and linked to the HVAC system is worth the higher cost, and the ability to monitor via smart home software or have them audibly describe the location of an alarm is great.
