||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.What I like most about this product compared to its competitors are two things: first, it's awesome to have the flexibility of wiring it or using battery. Due to this, you can install this doorbell even in places that don't already have one without needing to run wires. Secondly, it records in portrait orientation with a 3:4 aspect ratio, meaning that it is more well-suited for a front door than a 16:9 camera. The only reason I can't give this product 5 stars is because the Google Home app could really use some improvement. The way the Nest app presents information is more intuitive. I find the Google Home app to be oversimplified and buggy. Also, I am not able to fully migrate my home from the Nest app to the Google Home app, because the Google Home app does not support the Nest protect smoke alarm, meaning that I have to use two different apps for my "Nest" devices. It's truly frustrating. They need to either make all devices work in the Google Home app or make all devices work in the Nest app. Right now, there are devices like this doorbell which only work in the Google Home app, and there are devices like the Nest Protect which only work in the Nest app. It's ridiculous, feels half baked, and frustrates long-time Nest loyalists. Google, please fix this ASAP!

Users with older cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams. We switched from a different video doorbell and this is so much better. The clarity and sharpness are awesome. Cool feature that it remembers the faces and posts by name when they show up at the doorstep.

Easy to setup and good quality

We returned that in favor of this and it was the right decision. The video and audio is high quality and very little delay. If you have the google home app already it's a no brainer.

Great doorbell for a google smart home

This is my first smart doorbell and i have to say i love how easy it is to use. I also like the look of it more than say a Ring doorbell personally. As someone who uses google products, this is a must have for me. I am considering another camera for the back door.

Perfect Doorbell

We were awfully surprised by the length of each charge. The first charge lasted more than a week. Camera and audio quality are excellent.

Great Doorbell

Only frustrating thing is that it does not have (or I can not find) a setting so that familiar faces don't set off notifications. Ideally I would like to know when there is someone I don't know - I don't need to know every time the dog gets taken out.

We´re happy to inform you that it´s possible to get notifications with unfamiliar faces. To find and categorize unfamiliar faces in the Home app, try changing the settings and feed below:
Settings:
- Open the Google Home app .
- Tap Settings and then Nest Aware and then Familiar face detection.
- If your camera has detected new people, you can tap New faces to find and categorize them.
- For each new face, tap Yes, No, or Not a person. Then, follow the on-screen prompts to identify the face.
- To find anything you’ve tagged as Not a person, go to Familiar face detection and then tap Options and then Faces that aren’t people.
The Feed:
- Open the Google Home app.
- Tap the Feed tab.
- Choose the unfamiliar face event or group of events.
- Tap Add to face library, and then follow the prompts to identify each face your camera didn’t recognize.
You will also need to change the Camera event details:
- Tap the camera event in the Feed or home history.
- Once the clip is open, swipe up for more details.
- In the “Faces” category, tap Manage, then follow the prompts to identify the faces your camera didn’t recognize.
