almost as good as the gopro 7 camera

after scouring the internet for a gimbal to use with the gopro7, I ultimately decided on this one if only because it would power the gopro7 directly. I use this as an action camera for mountain biking, and the ability to, along with the extender for the karma, plug the karma into an external battery in my backpack and then simultaneously charge the gimbal/camera was the biggest factor. That said, it does a tremendous job of stabilizing footage. Truly cinematic quality shot quality. Its not for selfies or for use near water, but great for filming in dry conditions or indoor.

I was looking forward to this purchase, and when I got, it had scuff marks on the hand. I thought, maybe I'll see if it works, it also did not work. Very disappointed, if you're going to buy this on sale, chances are it's a returned item that's not new.

Smooth Cinematic Recording Not User Friendly

Really 3.5 stars. The gimbal gives a smooth recording using the GoPro, it does what it is suppose to, but it is not user friendly. 1. It cannot be easily converted into a tri pod without a lot of accessories which all have to be removed to store. 2. You cannot see the screen of what you are recording. 3. Had technical difficulties with it keeping a connection or receiving a connection to the GoPro App. 4. No spare battery available for purchase for the Gimbal so if you are on a long hike you are out of luck. 5. Very little or no instructions. 6. When you add the ring to attach to (another sold separate attachment), you have to take it apart to put it on and take it apart to take it off to store it. 7. Unlike other gimbals it does not have adapter to work with the iPhone. What I like about it: 1. Very smooth video. I tested it with just walking holding the camera and using the gimbal and attaching the gimbal to the backpack with the gimbal. Holding the gimbal walking was very smooth, attached to the back pack a little shaky, however just holding the GoPro and walking was very shaky. So if smooth video is the goal with you GoPro and you can hold the gimbal, it is a good buy.

The Karma Grip is a fantastic piece of machinery. It stabilizes the GoPro camera incredibly well, even when driving on rocky terrain. It really helps to give your footage a cinematic-like look. I highly recommend it for those looking to help improve the quality of their videos.

Stabilizes good. It requires updating of firmware to make the buttons work with the hero 6. It also has a bulky feel but not too bad.

I think mine was a dud

I want to start off by saying that my Karma was defective. It did not retain a charge and never did work as intended. Manufacturing defects happen so I am not faulting the grip on this review for this issue. What is a universal problem is that when properly installed on a Hero5 or Hero6, this grip interferes dramatically with the microphone function of the camera rendering poor audio quality. You cannot get around this because the grip requires use of the ports so you can't add an external Mic either. If you care about audio quality and have a Hero5 or Hero6, don't buy this. With a Hero4, it works perfectly.

    Second time purchasing and returning

First time I purchased this I was looking for some great steady video shots, but lack of a microphone input turned me off as the sound quality of the GoPro is garbage thanks to the frame it sits in. Second time I thought I'd give it another try, maybe use for vlogging and some b-roll footage after tinkering with microphone settings. I just can't get over the sound quality so returned it again... if you are using this for strictly B-Roll footage where you won't be using the audio then this is amazing! I just couldn't get past the horrible sound quality.

Super easy to use, works great to stabilize the camera. Only downside I see is that you have to remove the cover for the connections to the camera, which removes the waterproof status. Obviously this is only going to affect certain circumstances, but it is worth noting.

A worthwhile accessory if you have GoPros. Battery needs charging prior to use, which built-in to the handle. Many mounting options besides handheld. An optional $100 coiled umbilical cable can be purchased to make the unit small for tighter spaces. Smooth Moves and easy to learn. The only issue is using stock GoPro's because they are best left in a wide field of view. A company called Backbone makes modified GoPro and kit's to do it yourself- allowing for different lenses used. Recommend Karma Grip!

This thing is great for action shots which look much better with the image stabilization it provides. Terrible for sound, but GoPro’s aren’t known for their sound capturing quality. Don’t forget to buy a harness if you aren’t lucky enough to have a Hero 5, (FYI: The harness is the thing GoPro is calling the case which the camera actually plugs into at the end of this stick.)

If you own a GoPro, there is no other way to capture footage. Ever since purchasing this, I have used it for multiple occasions in multiple applications. I won’t use my Hero 6 without it.

no more shaky video, the device does muffle the sound just slightly but not really noticeable. I love the fact that it mates to my Hero7Black and controls all the options from the handle with little effort. Is it expensive...yes it is compared to other brands. But if you want seamless operation and a device that works out of the box this is for you

It's very good gimble and improves the stability of videos perfectly. My only complain is that it charges the GoPro while using the gimble, which means that the gimble will stop working before the camera runs out of juice. I had to do a 90 min shoot and the gimble ran out of battery; luckily I had a QC battery pack and was able to charge and use the gimble at the same time.
