The GoPro Wireless Mic Complete Kit is an impressively versatile package. It works with older GoPro cameras through the Media Mod and TRS receiver, connects via Bluetooth with the GoPro HERO13 Black and newer models, supports phones through the USB-C receiver, and can even pair with traditional camera rigs using the TRS receiver. In my testing, the transmitters did an excellent job minimizing unwanted background noise on a windy day. When comparing the GoPro’s native audio with audio captured by the wireless transmitters, the difference was night and day. Range and line-of-sight limitations keep this from being a perfect package, but overall, there is a lot to like here for GoPro users and anyone looking for a wireless mic kit for vlogging, outdoor video production, or family videos. Unboxing: GoPro includes two wireless transmitters with windscreens, a TRS receiver with a 3.5mm coiled aux cable, a USB-C receiver, a charging case, a carrying pouch, and a USB-C cable. Setup: This is a complete kit with options for everyone. The transmitters come paired out of the box with the included TRS and USB-C receivers. The TRS receiver connects easily to the GoPro Media Mod and traditional cameras, while the USB-C receiver works well with smartphones. For my testing, I used the USB-C receiver with a Samsung Galaxy S24+. The wireless transmitters also support Bluetooth, which I tested with my GoPro HERO13 Black. Connectivity Experience: For the TRS receiver, I connected the kit to a Nikon camera with a 3.5mm input. The receiver and transmitters were already connected and synchronized out of the box. The setup was extremely easy, though your experience may vary depending on your camera. Range worked well in this configuration. Connecting through the USB-C receiver was also straightforward. The native camera app on the Samsung Galaxy S24+ supports external microphones when the camera app is in Pro mode. As with the TRS receiver, connection range and audio quality were good, and setup was simple. The Bluetooth connection to the GoPro HERO13 Black was a bit more complicated. To switch the transmitters to Bluetooth mode, you press the power button on the transmitter three times, and the light changes from green to blue. Then you enter pairing mode by holding the power button until the light starts flickering. From there, you can connect to an external device through the GoPro menu. My experience with the HERO13 Black was more mixed. Connectivity worked, but I noticed a greater likelihood of audio clipping and distortion when the transmitter was out of line of sight. Range was also more limited, which aligns with GoPro’s own specifications. Audio Quality: I was impressed with the transmitters’ ability to minimize outside noise. I evaluated them outdoors on a very windy day, and they did an excellent job capturing my voice. One nice feature of recording with the GoPro is that it captured both the camera’s built-in audio and the transmitter audio. That made it easy to compare the two, and the difference in microphone quality was dramatic. The video exported via the GoPro app would include both tracks by default, but if you look for the raw file on the internal SD Card, you will find a WAV file for the alternative audio track. Connectivity range is my biggest concern. Audio clipping could become distracting when the transmitter moved out of line of sight from the camera. Also, when using the Bluetooth connection, you are limited to one transmitter, whereas the TRS and USB-C receivers support two transmitters. Another minor nitpick is that this kit may be more than some people need. It is a great setup if you have a GoPro with the Media Mod or a traditional camera with a 3.5mm aux input, but users who only want a Bluetooth connection for a phone or GoPro may not need such a full-featured package. Conclusion: The GoPro Wireless Mic Complete Kit is a strong, flexible package with thoughtful extras like the charging case and travel pouch. Audio quality is noticeably improved over the camera’s built-in microphone, and the kit offers several useful connection options. The range and line-of-sight limitations are worth keeping in mind, especially when using Bluetooth, but for GoPro users, vloggers, outdoor creators, and family videographers, this is an easy kit to recommend. 4.5/5

GoPro has finally entered the wireless mic space and I couldn’t be happier. The new GoPro wireless mic set has everything you need to record one or two people remotely, either via bluetooth, or into most devices with the included USB-C receiver. Compatible devices include the GoPro series cameras, other action cameras, mirrorless cameras, DSLR cameras, cinema cameras, and even your smartphone, or tablet. A few of the latter options may require some setting adjustments, but on my GoPro Mission 1 and my Android device, it was as easy as plug-n-play. **** SETUP **** For my GoPro Mission 1 Pro camera, the microphones had to be paired via bluetooth. For my setup, I chose to pair the mic held on the left side of the charging case for bluetooth, and the mic on the right side for use with the USB-C receiver. That said, it is extremely easy to change the microphone transmitter from bluetooth to USB connection with the receiver, by clicking the button on the mic itself quickly three times, or holding for five seconds to enter bluetooth pairing mode. While in bluetooth mode, the light on the mic is blue. In USB connection mode, it is green. This same button will also activate DNR (dynamic noise reduction) with a single press. Once activated, a small white light will appear on the opposite side of the mic indicating DNR is active. This kit also includes the typical furry wind screens for each mic if you are recording outside in windy areas, or holding the mic close to your mouth. Keep in mind that only one microphone will work at a time while using bluetooth. If you want to record two people at once, you will need to connect the USB receiver to the device that is recording the audio. **** SOUND **** The new GoPro wireless mic records via bluetooth at 32kHz. If you choose to use the USB-C receiver, or the included TRS cable connected to a larger camera system via the TRS receiver, the audio bumps up to 48kHz. These mics utilize an omnidirectional recording pattern, so they can easily be used on your shirt, or clipped on your hat while speaking normally. In my limited tests, I have found that these mics work exactly as expected and sound great. The clarity of your voice is pristine for a microphone that is this small. GoPro states that the range via USB-C receiver is up to 150 meters (almost 500 feet), or 100 meters (just over 300 feet) via bluetooth alone. This seems correct as long as there aren't a lot of obstacles between you and the subject, or the camera and yourself if you are recording solo. I am honestly shocked at how well these perform and sound for the size. I have used them with my Mission 1 Pro, as well as my Android phone and the results are excellent. **** DESIGN **** These are really small microphones, so be sure the magnet is aligned and secure before you let someone run off with the mic attached to their shirt. The magnets are also very small, but they do provide plenty of strength to hold the mic securely while wearing a dress shirt or t-shirt. If you are using these in the winter, the clip can easily and securely attach to a jacket, or any type of thicker material. The charging case that holds the TRS and USB receivers, and both mics, is super rugged and everything snaps into place by magnetics, then starts charging immediately. This is a great design that I have seen lately for other mic systems and earbuds, which effectively gives you more than enough charging power for weekend trips. The case is also the perfect way to contain all of the pieces when tossing it into your travel bag. **** IN CONCLUSION **** The new GoPro wireless mic system has everything you need to connect to an action camera, mirrorless camera, DSLR, or a smart phone, making it a truly versatile and compact microphone setup for just about anyone that is on-the-go. It is small, light, and fits into a small camera bag, backpack, or purse, easily. The charging carry case is also super rugged, providing all of the extra juice needed to power the mics for days of use. This entire package just works. The versatility between use cases is almost limitless. In the past I’ve never really felt the need to have a wireless microphone when doing recordings or videos, however more recently I’ve found myself reaching for better audio on the videos I do and of the several systems I have used in recently this setup from GoPro has probably been one of the easiest to use. Having recently gotten a Mission One camera that made getting this Wireless Microphone kit even better since I can now have recording and audio all in the same family of hardware devices (instead of having several different brands who all handle software updates or other things differently from each other. Overall audio quality was great, and in most of my use cases with each adapter type I found I needed to run the gain about mid-way, the low gain setting when using the USB adapter and the TX pod was too quiet but I guess that’s good though since you have a comfortable range to work with depending on the environment you’re. Bluetooth operation of the mics themselves was good and in my use, I did not seem to have any sort of rage or dropout issues. Although admittedly I was operating them within ~20 feet of the camera when Bluetooth was used. In the past with some other wireless microphones, I have had large issues with the Bluetooth connection dropping quickly even when close by so it’s nice to not have to worry about that. The range of the USB adapter and the TX pod was very good as I was able to operate on at least 2 different occasions over 100ft away from the receivers. I used one of the mics heavily with the new Mission One camera also from GoPro and the two operate together well, although it’s still using Bluetooth the process of pairing them together was super simple. I would have liked to have seen some interoperability with the same wireless radio that is used for the USB adapter and the TX pod (the transmitter pod is what I’m calling the main receiver, the one that has the dial for more gain control and the line out jacks.) But when operating with the camera directly it’s nice to not have to carry around the extra hardware, and since you can only connect one Bluetooth mic at a time with this kit you basically get twice the runtime before charging if you swap between the two microphones. If I could request anything it would have been a good way to pair both microphones with the camera at the same time to get two different audio channels that where not the cameras mic but it seems like when using the Bluetooth connection it’s limited to just one receiver and the onboard mic. You could use one of other receivers but then you have to run the camera without the grip to have it plugged into the USB port, so Bluetooth was the better normal operation option. The only thing I did notice (although I think this is kind of a normal thing with Lav style mics) is that you really need to make sure you use the windscreen that is provided in the kit. While there is some adaptive noise reduction that works decently well if you’re in direct wind of any sort or talking directly into the mic the windsock is a must use. I also love the charging case. It makes it super easy to keep everything together and ready to go since the case is also the way you charge all the bits. The kit comes with a soft bag that has the windsocks and cables in it that also fits the hard case to keep everything together. The only real issue I’ve found with the hard case is that you can’t have the windsocks attached and close the lid of the hard case at the same time, you must take the windsocks off beforehand and that can be a bit annoying. But overall, I feel that’s a small downside in an otherwise nice bit of kit.

I have been using the new GoPro Mission 1 Pro for about a week. It is a fabulous compact, cinematic camera for mobile journalists and content creators, and is perfect for filming or taking photos of just about anything. The camera's functionality is tremendous, but when vlogging and interviewing 2 people, the audio lacks the clarity the camera's pro-level features offer. It has four built-in stereo microphones: a pair on the front, one on the rear of the camera, and one on the side for wind noise reduction. Together, they provide stereo audio and improved noise cancellation and do a very decent job. But this camera can produce pro-level video quality and needs its own wireless speakers with transmitters that enable 2-person distance audio. At a price point of around $150, one is now available that has a limited lifetime warranty. GoPro has just introduced the Wireless Mic Complete Kit, which comes in a perfect little storage pouch that holds everything together, including the rechargeable case and USB-C charging cable. The case includes the complete GoPro 2-Person wireless microphone system. The mics can be blue toothed directly to the camera or with the use of one of two included transmitters. The shoe mount camera transmitter even has an adjustable gain control, and the USB–C plug–in receiver can be Bluetooth-paired with both of the clip-on wireless mics using 2.4 GHz Bluetooth mobile devices. The transmitters each feature dynamic noise reduction. Super-wideband Bluetooth connectivity is built in from the mics to the camera if you need to use the mics while filming without the use of the transmitters. Depending on your filming objective, It does shorten the audio distance from 492’ to 350 feet. I tested the shoe mount transmitter at a distance of approximately 350 feet, and the audio was clear as if the subjects were directly in front of the camera. My use of direct Bluetooth pairing to the camera has been limited to under 150 ft. But in all cases of using the wireless microphones, they work great and provide clear and crisp audio. The clip-on mics each have a strong magnet that might be particularly useful in certain situations, and each has a furry windscreen which is always a plus to muffle wind noise. The transmitters are designed to deliver 24-bit 48 kHz audio up to 492’ away, but audio is still delivered at 16-bit 32 kHz through Bluetooth direct to the camera alone with no transmitter. Included in the kit is also a 3.5mm TRS Cable. The charging case has a total of 20 hours of battery life without recharging the wireless microphone system. The transmitters each have 80mAh batteries and keep their charge a little over six (6) hours. The camera mount receiver has a 230mAh battery which will retain its charge for around thirteen (13) hours. The beauty of the rechargeable charging case is it acts as storage too, allowing components of the system not being used to retain their battery charge, or be recharged. All parts of the microphone kit fit neatly into the little storage bag that is 3.5” x 2,2” x 1.6”. This is a really nice accessory to take your filming to the pro level, and to take it on the go. The kit comes already paired between the microphones and the receivers. However, I caution you not to waste time figuring out how to Bluetooth the microphones directly to the camera without reading the simple instructions in the literature. Pairing it the first time directly to the camera is a little different in the steps you take and once you know the difference it is a quick and straightforward process. You will find the direct steps to take in the manufacturer’s information.

This GoPro Wireless Mic Kit is a pretty great value at its price point. It's easy to use and works excellently with either my mirrorless camera, GoPro Mission 1, or phone. The kit is compact and easy to carry or pack with other gear. Great audio quality, range and battery life. But there are a couple of features that I wish it did have. Mostly, I wish it had on-board storage to keep recording, in case the signal is interrupted or dropped. -- Setup This couldn't be much easier. You either connect with bluetooth, or just connect your 3.5mm cable to your camera and pull the mics from the case. They turn on and pair with the receiver, and you're good to go. Or, you can use bluetooth to pair a mic to your phone or GoPro. I used the receiver the most, and just plugged it into my camera, mounting it on the camera itself too. The receiver is very small and light, so it doesn't add unnecessary weight or anything either. -- Hardware Everything is very well designed, and very compact. Which makes it excellent to use. Battery life has been excellent in my uses so far too. GoPro claims you can get two full charges for each piece from a fully charged case. I haven't even needed to fully exhaust the battery yet, since the battery life has been great so far. The mics themselves are much smaller than other wireless mics I have used too. And having the option to clip or use magnets to attach them to shirts or other places is great. The included wind screens seem to work very well too. I have a couple of things I wish this mic kit had. First, I really wish it had onboard storage for the mics. Just as an additional safety net. Some of the other mics I have used have this feature, and it has saved me before. Like if the signal happens to drop for some reason, or if the receiver battery wasn't fully charged and died, the mics would still record. With the GoPro mics, if the signal is dropped, you would just lose the audio. I also wish they had 32-bit float to prevent audio clipping. However, they do include a feature to record a secondary "safety" track that is recorded at -6 db. This definitely would help solve any clipping issues, and is a great addition to help offset the lack of 32-bit float. Along those same lines, I do wish there was some sort of visual way to monitor audio levels. Sometimes when I'm recording videos, I am trying to talk to someone and not always able to have headphones on to monitor the levels, so a visual indicator would have been nice. -- Performance The audio quality from these mics is excellent. Things sound great, and experimenting with the dynamic noise reduction did produce nice results as well. I am curious how they would perform in a more difficult situation though, like maybe a construction site. The connection has been rock solid so far for me. Range seems to be excellent as well. Battery life has been another standout for me. They last for quite a while. Easily getting the 6+ hours GoPro states. And the receiver seems to last forever. I haven't managed to have it die on me yet. GoPro claims 13 hours for it, and I believe it. Overall, this is an excellent, versatile wireless mic kit at a great value. Works nicely with nearly any other gear, and only makes a couple of sacrifices to keep the price point lower. Pros: Compact, well-designed, good audio quality, safety track is a great feature, great battery life, nice case Cons: No 32-bit float, no on-board storage

Verdict: The GoPro Wireless Mic Complete Kit is a quality, versatile, and convenient mic package you can use with professional cameras, smartphones (USB-C or Bluetooth), and some GoPros. I am very impressed with GoPro hardware and I appreciate that they continue to the boundaries of video and audio capture in action sports and everyday life. First Impressions. Thank for including a pouch! The kit is small enough to bring anywhere, even just in a pocket. The components feel premium, well-made, and well-thought-out. GoPro makes really nice equipment! Setup. While this mic kit is largely plug-and-play for different scenarios, there are a lot of advanced features that require reading, memorizing press sequences, or accessing settings on your camera, GoPro, or Smartphone. This is not a bad thing! It’s easy for those that need plug-and-play and it has advanced features for those with more robust requirements. Operating the mics. Overall, they are easy to use day-to-day, with the easiest ways being to capitalize on the factory pairing of the mics with the two different receivers. However, you can pair the mics on their own to a GoPro (only one Bluetooth at a time) or Smartphone, and then you can toggle between the connections (triple press on the receiver). The instructions can be a little tricky (and will be hard to remember in the future) so read the manual for this part. You can also turn on noise reduction by pressing once on the mic, which is a feature we always use. Use case. We do regular live social media sessions and record a lot of videos for social media (mostly educational). Our application is not extreme or does not involve large distances, so our results have been consistent and excellent. I tried the two mics with my smart phone and I tried one mic with the GoPro Mission 1 Pro to record some conversational content with all devices within 6 feet of each other, all in line of sight, mix of indoor/outdoor, with noise reduction on. Whether using Bluetooth or through the receiver, the GoPro mics sound significantly better than the built-in mic from a smartphone. We have used different wireless mics before but they were not worth the hassle, and for the last year or so, we have been using Bluetooth earphones as mics. This kit is a significant upgrade for us. Things I love: - Portable kit to setup quality audio recording anywhere - Thank you for including the pouch! It’s a perfect addition to protect the case and from preventing accidental open and items falling out - Very fast connection once removed from the case - Easy to setup and use, and it just works - The kit includes two wind filters - Versatile application… perfect for GoPro Mission 1, any USB-C Smart Phone, and other professional camera gear through a 3.5mm cable Things I don’t love: - I am definitely going to lose the mic magnets at some point. Maybe two spares would have been great - I wish the case interior was slightly larger so I could close the lid with the wind filters still on the mics Overall, this is a very nice mic kit that will please the vast majority of users, beginners through advanced. We love all our options to capture audio and we highly recommend this kit.

I’ve honestly used the GoPro Wireless Mic Complete Kit more than I’ve used the new GoPro camera I got with it, and that says a lot. This little kit has turned out to be one of those accessories that is way more useful than I expected. The biggest thing for me is how versatile it is. It connects wirelessly with the GoPro Mission 1 Pro, but you can also use the included USB-C receiver with a phone. That has been fantastic. I’ve used it at a splash pad, during a 4th of July parade, around the zoo, and even just recording things around the house with my kids. Being able to put the mic on the person I’m recording makes a huge difference. The audio quality is the real standout. It gives video that “reporter with a microphone” sound, where the person speaking actually sounds close and clear instead of distant and buried under wind or background noise. With a regular phone or camera mic, if someone is 10 feet away, you usually lose a lot of what they’re saying. With this mic clipped on, the voice comes through clearly, and it cuts down on wind and background noise really well. Setup is about as easy as it gets. The mic connects automatically, and when I plug the USB-C receiver into my phone, everything just works. Taking the pieces out of the charging case turns them on, pairs them, and gets them ready without needing to mess with settings. The charging case is also excellent. It charges over USB-C, keeps everything together, and the magnets inside the case have just the right amount of hold. The pieces snap into place without being hard to remove. Build quality is also impressive. The mic is tiny and easy to wear, and I like that GoPro gives you both a clip option and a magnetic mounting option. The magnet setup is especially handy if someone is wearing a T-shirt or doesn’t have a good place to clip the mic. My only real concern is that the little magnets could be easy to lose if you bump the mic or are using it with kids. Thankfully, you don’t have to use the magnetic mount if you don’t want to, since the regular clip works well too. Overall, this is one of the best small tech accessories I’ve used in a long time. It is simple, well thought out, easy to charge, easy to connect, and it makes a huge difference in the quality of everyday videos. I’m not a GoPro expert, but this mic kit has been incredible, and for the price, a great value.

GoPro is going from action videos to a cinematic device company, and the wireless Mic kit is crucial for this shift. Performance of the Wireless Mic System is excellent, it captures great audio and you can pair it to just about anything that has bluetooth, USB or a 3.5 mm head jack. I was easily able to get 140 feet of range without any distortion, this was through a wall and some trees, and slightly above 200 feet distance within a clear line of sight. The noise/wind isolation for the wireless mics works wonderfully and it is super easy to increase gain/lower it as you need through the transmitter. The transmitter is battery powered and the included charging case is be more than enough for my use. I have been using the transmitter and mics for over a week now and haven’t needed to recharge. When it came to testing the quality, I cross referenced it to my Mission 1 Pro and the mics from MBP M4. The wireless kit captured much more detailed audio and USB C attachment allows recording to any device with USB C plug. The whole system is super easy to use, the case keeps everything charged/safe. When you first use the transmitter and mics, they are pre-paired. GoPro takes a single button approach for adjustments, so read the instructions. GoPro utilizes a light combinations to differentiate what connection mode the mics are in; you can toggle from transmitter to bluetooth by pushing the button 3 times on the mic you are using. Now if you have a Mission 1 pro you will have super wideband speech audio, so everything is recorded using more bandwidth gives you greater clarity, this is also perfect incase you need to make corrections after. This wireless mic kit is a must for all the creatives out there. GoPro provides everything you need, transmitter, Mics, windscreens, USB-C receiver and charging case/cables. Everything is well built and simple to use, I will be using it for weddings during speeches. I have no had no issues with the mics at all and highly recommend them.

I'm relatively new to this vlogging thing. I've tried the gimbal cameras from other makers, and it just never clicked with me. It would be fun at first but as I went I gradually went away from using it. That is mostly because my experience and expertise is in still photography, mainly landscapes, so managing audio and coordinating shots has been a steep learning curve and I've stumbled quite a bit around that curve! I wanted the GoPro Wireless Mic Kit to go with my new GoPro Mission One Pro: Grip Edition. I think this kit is going to be a MUCH better mesh with my style because using the Mission One Pro is more akin to using a small rangefinder/compact camera than the 'camera on a stick' mode. Walking the streets of medieval towns in Europe is going to be much more low-key with this set-up than ones I've tried in the past. Ok, with that said, the GoPro Wireless Mic kit is probably more than I’ll ever need and given the price of other kits out there, it’s a virtual steal! Given that my wife has also found an outstanding additional use for this kit makes it a no-brainer. I’m not doing interviews or anything like that so I’m not as worried that I can only use one microphone via a Bluetooth connection to the camera. If I ever need dual mics, that is easily rectified with the included TRS Receiver (which can be used with darn near any camera with a cold/hot shoe), though you will need a media kit for your camera to plug it in. That all being said, the sound quality from the GoPro wireless mic is SO MUCH nicer than the onboard mic. So much nicer that it actually makes me hate hearing my voice on a video clip a bit less than normal. That is an incredible accomplishment! The rest thing is that by having two microphones, I have ALL DAY coverage because I can swap them out from their case and after draining one, I can use it’s partner while the other one recharges. Oh, and that reminds me to say, that the microphones themselves and the entire kit is also so compact that it is super easy to transport! The mics are incredibly tiny and unobtrusive, which is something I value since I’m trying to be as unobtrusive as possible while filming. The tiny transmitter and its fuzzy wind guard just make it look like I have a tiny mouse in my shirt pocket! BTW, I don’t recommend letting your cat see these wind guards. I left one out on my desk and later found it licked to death by my cat on the other side of the house. The additional benefit that my wife found, is that instead of just sitting on the shelf when not traveling (which unfortunately is most of the time until she retires), she can use it at work for her AI transcription program! She’s a doctor and one of the few places I’ve actually seen AI do a decent job is with audio transcription. Her system has the program built in and normally she would just place her work phone in the examination room but now she can keep it next to her laptop while wearing the transmitter and using the USB-C receiver. Again, this is less obtrusive, AND has the added benefit of providing a better audio track to the AI system. I don’t think she it going to be using my system for very long, because I’m pretty sure she likes it enough to get her department to buy these for themselves! You’re welcome GoPro! No matter what your need is, I have a hard time imagining that the GoPro Wireless Mic Complete Kit won’t be able to meet that need. The fact that it does it at such a reasonable price, is just icing on the cake.

The GoPro Wireless Mic Complete Kit is one of the more useful additions I've made to my GoPro setup, adding exceptionally clear audio to my GoPro Mission 1 Pro (which has solid onboard mics already). This wireless mic kit has a ton of flexibility in terms of connectivity, a well designed charging case, and a very compact form factor, making it a very solid option for anyone looking to up the production value on their videos, whether on their phone or on their GoPro. The connectivity options of this kit are the top feature for me. The Complete Kit comes with two transmitters, a TRS receiver, and a USB receiver, which covers virtually every scenario you'd be able to throw at it. You can connect the TRS receiver through the Media Mod's external mic port, hook the USB receiver up to other devices, or, my preferred method, pair a transmitter directly to the camera over Bluetooth with no receiver needed at all. That direct connection works with the aforementioned Mission 1 series, as well as recent Hero cams, and smartphones. On the Mission 1, it even supports hi-fi super wideband speech audio. In usage, this kit adapts to however you want to use it instead of forcing you into a specific usage scenario since it plays just as nicely with non-GoPro hardware (phones, computers, cameras, etc) as it does with GoPro's own gear. The form factor of the mics themselves is another win for this kit. The transmitters are very compact and stay out of the way, so they can be used while staying light and mobile. I've used this kit in a couple of situations: family activity videos, a few random vlogs, and to record some acoustic music while playing out. This kit has been a game-changer from an ease of use and sound quality perspective, as I've traditionally relied upon on-board camera mics for a lot of these situations. Given the ease of use outlined here, adding this level of sound quality has been trivial and has paid huge dividends in my video output. On the topic of sound quality, I was also very impressed with the mics' ability to mostly handle wind and background noise, which again makes these a great option for those shooting with an active, outdoor lifestyle. The charging case they've included here has been a huge positive as well to round out the kit. Everything has a place, and because this is a charging case, the components all stay charged between uses. This is great, since the small components here could very easily get lost or turn into a loose pile of random components in a carrying bag. This just adds to the overall usability of this kit and the ease-of-use that makes this now a must-have component to go along with my GoPro. The only potential downside that's worth calling out is a limitation with the Bluetooth connectivity: direct Bluetooth connection only supports one transmitter at a time. If you wanted to mic up two people at one time, you'd need to add one of the receivers to the setup as well to accommodate. This is in no way a dealbreaker since the receivers are also easy to use and I generally use a single mic in my situations, but it's worth knowing prior to dropping money on a kit that includes two mics and supports Bluetooth connectivity. Overall, this is an easy kit to recommend for anyone shooting with a GoPro who cares about audio quality. It nails the fundamentals: flexible connections, clean sound, a compact form factor, and a case that keeps it all together. If you've been relying on your camera's built-in mics and are looking for a sound upgrade, this kit delivers in a big way that's well worth your consideration.

For the last week, I've been testing the new GoPro Wireless Microphone complete kit. Overall, it really is a complete kit that works great with my GoPro Mission 1, phone, and my other full-sensor cameras. Inside the box is everything needed to record audio on any platform. There is a rechargeable battery case, a soft carry case, a USB-C cable, two wireless/Bluetooth microphones, two fluffy windscreens, a USB-C receiver (for phones), and a TRS receiver and cable (for other cameras). I'll start by saying that for me, there was a bit of a learning curve to using this kit. The user manual did an acceptable job of explaining what all the accessories are and how to switch between modes, but in actual practice, I found myself unsure if I was pairing it correctly. Ultimately, I figured it all out. Using Bluetooth mode, I connected the kit to my GoPro Mission 1. After putting the microphone into pairing mode, I used the GoPro's on-screen menu to connect, and it paired instantly and flawlessly. However, I did discover that my Mission 1 only connected to one Bluetooth mic at a time. During playback, the audio clarity was excellent, and the signal remained strong even past 30 feet. Next, I used the TRS receiver and cable to connect to my full-size camera. I switched the microphones over to Wi-Fi mode, and they immediately synced with the receiver. Once again, performance was excellent, maintaining a solid connection from more than 30 feet away. I also really liked how snugly the TRS receiver slid into my camera's hot shoe. Finally, I used the USB-C receiver to connect the microphones to my Android phone. After setting the system to Wi-Fi mode, it connected instantly. The sound quality was great here as well, though I did have to turn the gain all the way up to max. With that said, the complete kit is exactly what it claims to be: a complete kit. It worked great with all my devices, and I definitely recommend it.

The GoPro wireless mic kit is a surprisingly versatile and full-featured solution for wireless lapel mics that borrows some of the best features of modern earbuds to deliver a high quality, extremely portable solution for audio recording for just about any setup. In some ways it may actually be a little cooler than the camera it's meant to pair with. The lav mics themselves are quite nice pieces of tech. They're small enough to hide and as one might expect offer a recording quality that's far better than what you might get with anything attached to a camera, particularly with the included baffles helping filter out any pops or wind noise. If that were all it did I'd be impressed enough, but they really went above and beyond in trying to make this a flexible recording solution for almost any scenario you might care to name. They can be attached either with a built in clip or using magnets for clothing where that might not be an option, and if you plan to be shooting with a GoPro camera they're really all you need. Both mics can be paired to the camera via Bluetooth and offer both a very good range and multiple channels to assist with editing. What impressed me more though is that they didn't stop there. You also have everything you might need to attach it to a more full featured camcorder via a mic-in port (cables are included for this) or recording direct to your phone with two dedicated receivers, both of which are pre-paired and come with independent volume control to help balance your audio. And all of it fits neatly into an oversized charging case that keeps the batteries topped up and all the necessary accessories in order. I've even used it for video conferences in a pinch.

I picked up the GoPro Wireless Mic Complete Kit to round out my setup after getting more serious about capturing decent audio instead of just relying on whatever the camera picks up on its own. Between shuttling kids around and trying to grab clean interview style clips or quick narration on trips, built in mics just were not cutting it anymore. This kit looked like a simple way to fix that without turning into a whole production. Setup was refreshingly painless. I was worried I would need to sit down and read through instructions for twenty minutes before getting anything to work, but that was not the case at all. Pairing the transmitter and getting audio flowing took just a few minutes, and once it was set up I did not have to think about it much again. That matters a lot to me. I do not have the patience for gear that requires a manual every time you want to use it. It also travels well, which was a pleasant surprise. The whole kit is compact enough that it does not feel like extra bulk when you are already juggling a camera bag, snacks, and whatever else comes along for a family trip. The transmitters themselves are small and light, so clipping one on or tucking it out of sight is easy and does not feel awkward or obvious in the shot. Where this kit really shines is in interview style setups. If you are sitting down with someone, capturing a conversation, or doing any kind of narration where the person is relatively still, the audio comes through clear and noticeably better than what you get straight off the camera. It picks up voices well without a ton of background noise bleeding in, which has made a real difference in the quality of clips I have been able to put together. For that kind of use case, I have been genuinely impressed. That said, do not expect it to be your go to setup for action scenes. This is not really built for fast movement or anything with a lot of physical activity involved. If you are looking to mic up while biking, doing yard work, or anything more dynamic, this probably is not the right tool. It is clearly designed with calmer, more controlled shooting situations in mind, and once I recalibrated my expectations around that, I stopped trying to force it into situations it was not meant for. My one real complaint is more about convenience than performance. The kit does not fit as well as I would like inside the GoPro carrying case. I was hoping to keep everything together in one spot so I was not hunting around for pieces before a shoot, but the mic kit ends up needing its own little home instead. It is a small gripe in the grand scheme of things, but it is the kind of detail that adds a bit of friction to an otherwise smooth experience. Overall this has been a solid addition to my gear bag. It is easy to use, sets up fast, and genuinely improves audio quality for anything conversational or narration based. Just go in knowing it is built for calmer shooting situations rather than action, and maybe plan on finding your own storage solution since it will not tuck neatly into your existing GoPro case. For anyone doing interviews, vlogs, or travel narration, I would recommend it without much hesitation.

the GoPro Wireless mic kit was a great addition to the purchase of our mission Pro Go Pro. my daughter went to camp recently and took the Go-Pro and the mic set. she didn't use the mic for a lot of things, but did use it when she did the talent show. her friend was able to record with the camera and she wore the mic. the dynamic noise reduction was really great. you can hear her voice so clearly compared to another video a counselor sent me. she didn't have to charge it at all, it work the couple times she used it. we then used it with my phone to record a self tape for some acting auditions she was doing. it picked up her voice so clear, but allowed mine to fade into the back ground. it left the focus on her, which is what we needed. We are really excited to try the mic attached to the go pro for those times she cannot wear the mic. All and all we are really happy with the quality of the Go Pro Mic. We would recommend this to anyone who does auditions, vlogs, performs and needs better sound quality!

The transmitter mics are super small, which is great for vloggers or amateur reporters who want to wear their mics in an inconspicuous, discrete manner. They can clip to just about anywhere on your person without readily being noticed if you use them without a windscreen. Due to good noise reduction, the transmitters hold up well against wind, specifically at less than 50 yards from your camera. Sound quality sounds natural and clear for the most part. The magnetized clips for the transmitter are strong, so the transmitter will be secure to whatever you clip it on. You can also wear the transmitter by using only the built-in clip on the back of it instead; the magnets are optional. I don’t like the fact that you can’t connect two transmitters at once through the Bluetooth connection to the Mission 1 pro camera. Instead, you can use the camera’s internal mic in conjunction with one transmitter to record audio. If you use one of the included receivers in the kit, you can connect and record on both transmitters, with less customization on the USB receiver compared to the bigger receiver. You can do stereo (left and right) recording on the bigger receiver and flat, simple recording on the USB receiver. As far as the signal strength of the Bluetooth connection using just the camera is concerned, it’s phenomenal; just make sure you’re only talking when you are facing the Mission 1 pro. You will hear A LOT of feedback, choppiness, and cutting in and out if you try to talk as you walk away from the camera. It’s weird, but the minute you turn away or turn to the side, you almost lose connection; however, the connection doesn’t drop completely and returns to full strength immediately. The Bluetooth connection stretches to about 100 yards at its farthest, but the quality sounds its strongest at about 50 yards or less. According to GoPro, the transmitters will capture clear audio at distances as far as 492 feet, which I think equates to 164 yards. I personally wouldn’t push it beyond 75 yards, but that is my opinion. The type of environment you are recording in, the audio level setting you select, and how you choose to pair the device to your camera will affect Bluetooth signal strength (which determines the sound quality), so results will vary. This is a minor pro that has nothing to do with the audio quality, but I love that the mic kit comes inside a small traveling case/storage pouch. The rectangular charging case that houses the transmitters and receivers is also secure and feels sturdy enough to me to sustain an accidental drop. These mics are delicate, so anything that makes traveling with them easier/safer, I appreciate. It is important to note that this specific wireless mic kit was intended to be paired with the GoPro Hero Black Cameras and the latest Mission 1 Series, so keep that in mind if you are thinking of purchasing this. While these aren’t the most powerful wireless mics on the market, when paired with the right conditions they get the job done and provide a solid, reliable performance.
