Its great if you are a company who just needs a bit of a mic to be louder then the air conditioner out on the plant floor. Echo feature- even on the lowest setting-still is annoying. Otherwise - I can't complain for what we use it for!

I use this to play accompaniment music for sing-times in several convalescent care centers each week. There are times when I would like to have more volume for CD replay, but am unable to get it from this machine. I use the microphone to enable folks to hear me more easily as I lead a Bible study; this works very well.
It is very portable (I use a shopping bag to transport it). Overall this is a good, inexpensive machine for my purposes.

Very disappointing device.

Biggest complaint is that it says it takes MP3/ipod input, but doesnt have an input jack. You need a special cord that takes ipod output to rca left/right jacks. Baffling why this wouldn't come with device, since it isn't a common cord.
Screen quality was fine for a black and white screen, and the output to TV was nice, but only failr quality, like original Nintendo game system quality.
comes with one mic, but accepts 2. separate sound levels for each. Even at highest cranked levels, you could hardly hear the singers voice, both with the mic that came with the unit and the one I already had. Even when sound was coming through TV. device had an automatic setting to lower song level when someone was singing, but it bearly made a difference to the output level of the singer. You could always hear the singer directly more than what came out of the unit or on the TV.
Unit may have been defective.

My daughter loves it! It's a perfect starter karaoke machine for elementary age kids.
Easy to use. Sing with the lyrics on screen.

The unit and performance is good for our purposes, a toy for my daughter and friends. Ours is flawed because the power button is maddeningly difficult to get to stay engaged when powering on. After we get it engaged, it is fine, so we plugged it into a surge protector and use that to turn it off and on. Otherwise, it's fine, although it would be better if the screen was color, higher resolution, and a bit more interesting overall.

The karaoke machine works just fine. The words show up properly on the screen with the CD-G CDs and even works great when connected to the TV. The sound self adjusts the volume of the music to the volume that comes through the microphone. The problem we have is that it states on the box and in the manual it is a "Boombox for iPod with Radio". After talking with a BestBuy Associate and with Radio Shack, there is an adapter out there but it costs another $40. No where does it state you need another cable and we are still not sure that will work. If you are not planning to hook up an I-pod (which was a main reason we bought this item) then this is a good product. You do need CD-G CDs or download special graphics songs for the ipod(from reading other reviews some may think differently). We are planning on returning the product and take our chances with the karaoke machine with the docking station.

A good unit for the price

First, I bought another model from Best Buy -- small, refurbished, cheap, maybe suitable for young kids. I returned it and bought this one. The volume is more than ample for home use. The sound quality is reasonably good for a low-priced unit and I made it even better using my own mics superior to the one supplied. Operation is straightforward. A remote controller would be nice to have, along with a color monitor (it can be connected to a TV) but all in all, for a modestly priced fun unit it does the job.

Good quality for parties

This product is great for those casual parties where your friends just want to play around. The price is reasonable and the product seems sturdy enough. The sound output is actually really good, but I bought it with the intention of hooking up to my TV and surround sound. While the connection to the TV is great, the sound quality from the microphone through my surround sound speakers has a delay. This is quite disappointing. To resolve it, I connected some computer speakers to the karaoke machine to amplify the sound - that worked out ok, but it was an extra step and equipment I didn't expect. I'm going to do some research to see if a different caliber of red/white audio cables resolves the voice delay through the microphone.

The Screen is the weak point

I bought this machine for my 8 yr old grandson for Christmas. It worked out of the box but the screen would not come back on after the first supervised use. My daughter exchanged it for another with some in store hassle and the screen rolled until she adjusted it many times. The other features seem very good for the price, but the weakness is definately the screen.

This Karaoke unit is ok for beginners. Sound quality is average for a small unit by itself. It sounds really good through a pa system with better mics and looks good on a tv. One complaint is the system won't do the graphics from an mp3 player (ipod touch) it will do only the sound; a little deceiving from the picture on the box. I haven't had it long enough to see how it will hold up.

Bought for my 14 yr old daughter for Christmas and she still can't figure out how to get the words on the screen. We put the disk in, but the words didn't show up. We can hear the sound.

There were more cons than pros on this product. The quality of the product is poor. According to the box you could hook up an ipod player to it, but you couldn't with the cables that came in the box. Depending on where you sit the machine, the screen is hard to read and it seems like the speaker would be on the opposite side of the machine so that the audience would be able to hear it. Instead of just putting the disc in the machine and hitting play, you had to hit program and a number. After about being used for 3 songs, the machine stopped working properly and kept going back to the 1st song and there was no way to forward to other songs. Singing karaoke is a lot of fun and being able to do it at home is a great idea but this machine needs a lot of improvements.

Disappointment

My mother bought this machine for my children for Christmas. What a disappointment when we got it all set up and the words would not show on the screen. The CD will play and the microphones work, but the whole point of a karaoke machine is to have the words displayed for you to read. Also, the instruction booklet was worthless and when I went online to get help I had to call a number and waited 8 minutes for someone to answer and finally hung up. I, too, am disappointed that Best Buy would carry a product that is such low quality.

Very easy to use and set up. If you are looking for something that sounds good as a stand alone this is not. The kids are ok with the sound but I am not.

My daughter has used this 7 or 8 times since Christmas. It works great except it sometimes freezes when forwarding through songs. Also the mic must have a short in the wiring because one day it will work and next time it won't.
