At time of review, I am about 30 hours into the game.
Graphics:
Pros: Some of the areas are really pretty looking and comparable to a AAA game.
Cons: On the PS4 it does not look great 50% of the time. Lots of pop ins and texture rendering. Facial animations and cutscenes are sometimes painfully bad(think Mass Effect Andromeda).
Story:
Pros: Pretty interesting premise. Not similar to another storyline I can recall ever playing before in an RPG. Lots of the side mission story's play into the main mission story. Several ways to approach missions. Dialogue will change depending on who you bring in your party and can effect your relationship status with party members.
Cons: The poor graphics unfortunately sometimes affect my enjoyment of the story. The camera is super janky when in dialogue scenes(going through people, odd angle on characters faces, no mouth movement, etc). Also, super repetitive dialogue (the natives repeat the same lines over and over at each tribe you visit, and so does your character). There are some fetch quests before you get info out of people-typical RPG stuff.
Gameplay/Combat:
Pros: Several ways to approach missions and how you approach will sometimes be dependent on what skills you are building your character with. Warrior, mage, and a mix of gunslinger/rogue/scientist?, are the general classes, but they all really bleed into one another, and can mix it up. I enjoy the so called boss battles. That is when combat feels the best. Lots of armor and weapons to choose from. Can customize them to an extent.
Cons: Combat is not that fun to me and got old quick, even with the multiple traps, bombs, swords, magic, etc that can be used. Not a variety of enemies; has more to do with armor rating that enemy type. It just does not feel right when connecting with an enemy and sometimes delays. Sneaking around is not enjoyable. Companion AI is not good, and they will die quick.
World/Exploration:
The map and how you explore between areas is similar to Dragon Age: Origins-which may be a pro or con for some people.
Pros: I like that you can move pretty quickly through an area by running-vs. in Dragon Age: Inquistion where it felt like you got nowhere fast. A couple of the cities do look nice(from a distance). Interesting set up that where you can go is dependent upon what attributes you have, but this also falls into a con...
Cons: The exploration is not interesting enough for me to want to go back to areas I was previously unable to due to my attributes (nor do I remember where). Exploring the world can be frustrating; running into invisible walls, not being able to make short hops off areas, but instead having follow the path, then randomly being able hop off another area that is higher up. The only pay off for exploring is finding shrines with a skill point or a random chest (that you may not be able to get into). Most places you find you will probably end up at in another mission, so not a lot of incentive to explore. Minor side missions to find camps and notes on beasts does not feel worth it. The cities are copy and paste, then slap a new skin on it. How you traverse the city changes, but once you step inside a building they are duplicates with new skins from one to next.
Things to Note-Bugs Aplenty:
Serious frame drops during gameplay on occasion and sometimes dialogue scenes freeze. Lots of graphic issues-seriously. I have not had hard crashes or data erased though.
I would recommend as long as you understand this is a AA game and comes with all the issues you could expect from one, and is not going to have the polish. It feels a bit like a PS3 game.

Greedfall is the story of a French-looking colonial kingdom in search for a cure to a plague currently ransacking its populace. In this game you will play as a character who is in search of any answers for this sickness, leading your original created character to a new continent never before seen by colonial eyes, hoping beyond hope for help.
If you've played Dragon Age, Mass Effect, or any other old BioWare role playing game, you've essentially played Greedfall before then. All the old beats are there, with such fun as character romancing, class choosing, story and world building with deep, rich writing, it's all there.
Battle system is a little linear but still a lot of fun, with a fast-paced action tilt reminiscent of PS2 era RPGs, like Star Ocean or the Tales Of games. You and your two partners will be slicing, exploding, and bashing your way all through a beautiful island countryside.
The story is a little predictable, but it's still full and rich, a decided contrast to most RPGs nowadays that just throw you into the action without giving you any reason to fight to in the first place. Writing will never be an issue with Greedfall, always throwing some delightfully devilish story detail your way.
Plot driven and full of action, Greedfall might not be the biggest game you'll play, but for a double-A caliber title in 2019 it sure doesn't disappoint. Worth a purchase!

I really enjoyed the game, enough to finish it and almost get the platinum trophy (that would require multiple playthroughs).
Pros:
Beautiful environments and sound design, characters and companions are fleshed out and interesting—I wanted to help them and cared about them. Skill tree and abilities ...
Greedfall is a complete triumph. I'm about 18hrs in as I write this and I am blown away at the story, side missions, factions and 1700s style fictional setting.
Im gripped and eager to play more and discover the end to this story. The depth in all characters, missions, weapons, armours and skill tree are fantastic. The environments are stunning and you get attached to the towns, cities and open areas. The characters I've encountered so far are all purposeful and have heart.
The soundtrack by Olivier Deriviere is a feat in itself! He's a fantatsic composer and the music breathes even more life into the game.
I feel Greedfall is going to be held in high regard as time moves on. I haven't played any RPG this good in a long time. This is right up there with some of my fave ES games.
*side note, there are some glitches and rough patches in the gameplay and graphics, but if I'm honest, I've played AAA titles that are FAR more problematic than this game.
Amazing, RPG/Fantasy fans get this game!

This has a great, unique story. The gameplay reminds me of the older Dragon Age games and the Witcher 2. It has a number of bugs and could use some polish, but it doesn't significantly detract from the game.

I adored this game! The story was really good and even the side quests were more than a bunch of fetch quests like you see with many other RPGs. The NPCs were interesting and well voiced.
Combat was about average and some building layouts were reused a lot but coming from a small company this was an amazing effort. I finished the game after 48 hours so you really get your money's worth and it is less expensive than other PS4 games of this scale.
Really well done and I hope Spiders has much success with this so they can do even more with their next release.

This game has all the great elements of Dragon Age Origins, Dragon Age 2, and some elements of the game Fable. If you like any or all of these games, you should get this game. Event if you don't know those other games, try this one! Some small bugs, but nothing game breaking. A lot of side quests, missions (which are like bulletin board optional missions from Assassin's Creed Odyssey). A true RPG, no multiplayer at all. The only thing I want, is more story, some add-on's, paid expansion, and a sequel would make me very happy. It's a great game, I can't say that enough. So go ahead, buy it, enjoy it!

Featuring a unique setting and the ability to diplomatically solve quests, GreedFall is great for those who want more than meaningless fetch quests in their RPGs. Each quest in the game is more than meets the eye--a simple request to find someone can turn into a murder mystery. The dialogue options have weight to them, and you will spend time carefully considering the best course of action, which I deeply enjoy. The combat is decent, though guns are overpowered. There is plenty of loot to find and equipment to upgrade. The story is also interesting. Overall, if you love RPGs, I think GreedFall is one that is not to be missed.

Surprisingly good game that I have never heard of before. No parts of the game disappoint and there is an immense amount of replay value (4 different factions you gain gain approval or disproval with - similar to Fallout 4 in that regard).

Still haven't got to the end which is nice in that I didn't beat it in a day. Story is simple and the carnage is cool. Not an excellent game but I am glad I got it. Others have spent some time with it also and have good comments. Not an addictive game.

This game was pleasantly surprising for me. While it may not be setting the world on fire with graphics and it has fun combat systems but nothing innovative, this game sets itself apart with its storytelling and development of characters. So if you want a game where you can get lost in the characters in the story of the world this is the game for you. It also has decent replay value as your choices actually do feel like they have weight to them

I actually like this game a lot so far. I have played a few quests and have ventured into the new main game territory. I will probably update this later if I have any different opinion but wanted to get this out to offset the 1 star review so far.
I can say the start is a slow burn but I think the main story and side quests are actually very well thought out and can conclude in a number of ways which I like. There is also loot, character customization, and "Fashion Souls" if you like that kinda thing. The clothing and jewelry you wear can provide benefits to your character which is good.
Unfortunately, it does lose 1 star for a few reasons. The game does not have a jump action which I think is a bad choice for an open world game in 2019. Vertical navigation is usually done by falling or moving up stairs or ramps (usually rock debris in a ramp form) but geez Louise jumping would be nice. Furthermore and like the other reviewer here, the combat controls are wonky and a little hard to get used to. At this time in video game evolution, if you are not incorporating Souls-like button mapping with your similar Souls-like combat design, you are stuck in the PS2 era. To add insult to injury, you cannot customize the controls on the PS4 either. Blurgh!
Anyway, it's Eurojanky but I do think the graphics are very good, quests are good, loot is good, but controls could be better.

Very solid game from smaller studio. Me and the girlfriend enjoyed the story, as we found out more as we played we had those moment of, that person did it, or I bet they are the guilty. You will notice a lot of the skins on the AI's were recycled as a lot of people look the same and the towns are all very similar. The game started out slow but picked up the pace and we enjoyed the ending of story of what happened to all the characters. Overall it was repetitive at times and ran back and forth 8 times but we had a lot of fun playing the game. Well worth the price point.

This game is amazing! The graphics are stunningly beautiful and will grab your attention the moment you start the game. The gameplay is not at all repetitive, and it has a solid storyline to follow as well. This is a must play game of 2019, you do NOT want to pass on this experience!

I put in quite a few hours into this game and enjoyed all of it. The story is well written and often blends the lines of "black and white". The game play is reminiscent of Dragon Age, which is another series I'm fond of.

This is spiders latest title. You may know some of their other games like Technomancer. Greedfall harkens back to a time of rpgs like the first dragon age or mass effect.
There is a minor amount of bugs to the game but they're overshadowed by the deep character customization that actually has an effect on the paths you can take. Talking your way out of a situation is just as effective as drawing a sword and allows you to take on quests in different ways instead of just go to x and kill y.
Builds have complete freedom where you could make a warrior, thief, and mage if you wanted to go the vanilla choices or you could dabble into a little of every tree to make a hybrid that's able to tackle the toughest challenges in a unique way.
Overall I suggest this to anyone that was a fan of rpgs that put more of a focus on quests being about a freedom of choice instead of being railroaded into one option.
