After using another tax preparation software for many years, I decided to give H&R Block Tax Software Premium 2020 a shot. The guided questions and useful tax tips made for a relatively painless process. I was a little disappointed to learn that while federal e-file was included in the purchase price; state e-file required additional fees. I would have happily given 5 stars had this not been the case.

I have used an online service for the last 10 years but decided to give this a try. It was a complete package because I have a 1099-NEC and a W-2 so that part was very easy. Others you have to pay for in advance. You still have to pay to file your state but apparently that is the state charging not the program. Very easy to navigate and gives good guidance.

This is my second year in a row filing my taxes using H&R Block’s software. Easy to install, and easy as it can get for filing your own taxes even if you are a novice. H&R Block makes it very easy because of how simple The user interface is, you can go at your pace, save any time and then come back to finish later. If you need help there are help buttons that explain pretty much everything. Since I filed last year using H&R Block’s software, all of my previous information automatically get input it like my name, address, work details etc. all I had to do was input the new numbers from my W2, 1099’s etc, thats it! Pretty solid like always, I would definitely recommend using this program if you are new to filing your own taxes are have been doing them a different way in the past.

I have used TurboTax for several years past. Though I am not a business owner, do not have rental properties neither, my tax situation is somewhat complex. With TurboTax lately I had some challenges with their questions flow and the subsequent review before filing, where I had to manually enter answers on specific forms. The H&R software is much faster to install, quicker to load, simpler to operate. Seems as fewer ambiguous questions. Works with the prior TurboTax files. Less stress, faster process. Looks good to me. We have a new winner for the 2020 tax season. You might enjoy it too.

The downloaded app version that Im currently using is very smart and helpful. I like how it adjusts to only display the pertinent information in your particular context. This really cuts down on my confusion as I am an independent contractor by classification. I have a lot of write-offs and deductions that require a much more in depth review before I submit. I am still looking for the rebate credit from the CARES Act in the software but if all else fails I can print that off separately. Highly recommend this straightforward approach!

Wow, I've used competitor products for years, so this is my first year using H&R Block software, and in comparison, I have to say it's not significantly better, but it doesn't mean that it's not good and reliable! It's solid software as I expected. Works great, and filing taxes is super easy with this. I've filed taxes with H&R Block in person before, and I feel like they just use the software too!
