I purchased this recorder to take on a road trip to a guitar camp. We were allowed to record the workshops. The sound quality and clearness of the recording was amazing. It took a little practice to learn all the controls, but it was worth it. The recorder is compact in size but does a great job. I recommend getting the accessory pack since it have a hard shell case and a tripod. Recording to MP3 format, the 32GB SDHC card can record forever. I recorded over 10 hours of workshops on the same set of batteries, so it's pretty efficient. But it's always good to carry extras. I did not use the AC adaptor yet since I used this for field recordings. Transferring files to my laptop was easy. Overall a great value

This is a very nice mic. All 5 mics on this piece record in great quality. All of the settings and options are very easy to use and maneuver. The guitar tuner on it could be fine tuned a bit better, but I think the fact that it has one at all is pretty amazing. It hooks up to my DAW w/ no problem. Field recordings are synch and sound fantastic. The batteries never seem to run out. This is a fine Condenser and Dynamic mic combo unit. The body of the mic does seem as if it could break easy, but I have yet to confirm that as a problem because mine is still working fine. I will update my review if I ever run into any issues. Until then I would say look no further. This thing rocks for multitudes of uses. It gets my award for sound quality and versatility.

For the money, it's a pretty good digital recorder. I've used it as a field microphone for videos and the sound quality and stereo separation is quite good. It's very sensitive to wind, though, so you'll want a wind screen. For narration, I think the sound quality is a little tinny, but it's easy to adjust for that in post. It's very easy to use for the most part, though the sensitivity pattern indicators are a little confusing. The diagram on the microphone for the X+Y setting points the wrong direction. The manual is correct and is worth reading.

It's a really good recorder. It can be used to record to 2 files for the surround recording, which means that you can have each microphone as a separate channel. Also, you can connect to your computer via USB to use as your computer microphone (also as a USB sound card)

This recorder is small, seems rugged and works well for my limted needs which are two: 1) Music rehearsal recording 2) Transcribing interviews. (By playing at 50% speed but at same tone, making typing transcripts easier) The reason for 4 rather than five stars is because the software for editing which is t be downloaded was impossible for me to install. I was very disappointed. Most of the controls are intuitive but, still after a month of using this recorder, I still have to mess around a bit, guessing, in order to get to the function I want. Recording is a breeze, one button and it starts. There are a number of functions that I don't yet understand. They may turn out to be very helpful

The H2N is highly recommended for any mobile recording situation from simple interviews for pod casting to recording some riffs from you acoustic guitar. Low noise, high quality recording is easy as pushing a button. Great for the novice or professional. Super device!

The Zoom H2n is a great portable audio recorder for beginners and professionals alike. I use it mostly for recording piano and it reproduces the sound exactly as I hear it. I even used it for recording a Lamborghini Gallardo, and it worked amazingly well. I would recommend this recorder to anyone who is looking for great sound at a good price.

I have used this to record research interviews, The recordings are crisp and clear. I have also used it to record rehearsals of my band and it performs like a champ.

I bought this on the spur of the moment to record a Christmas concert. The singing was multiple harmonies and the playback stereo through the headphones is great. The instructions were a litlle complicated but once I started using the recorder it all made sense.

I have had limited use of this new recorder having only recently bought it. I was afraid it would be difficult to learn but it is surprisingly intuitive. My only complaint is that the accompanying instruction book is printed in type that is hard to read. After less than an hour of reading and experimenting, I was making recordings. Although I bought it to do interviews for a book, it turns out to do music recordings of my string band very nicely. I am only giving it four stars because I haven't fully tested it. If possible, I will return after using it and edit this review in light of more experience.

Having used the ZOOM H2 for years, I picked up the H2n, which is a nearly identical machine in terms of quality and functionality. First of all, the recording quality, with the built-in microphones, is nothing short of amazing. The quality is far beyond anything I have ever found in the little hand-held Olympus and Sony memo recorders. This is a professional-quality instrument. Who is it for? I would say that anyone wanting amazingly high-quality recording will enjoy this device. It will capture the voices and sounds around you for future enjoyment. It is excellent for the musician wishing to get a high quality recording of jam sessions. With an input jack, it is easy to record directly from countless sources, creating mp3 or wav files of any bit rate you select. With the ability to use a 32GB SD card, you can record countless hours without the worry of running low on memory. In addition, the fact that it is powered by two AA batteries, means that you never have to wait while the device recharges. You never have to worry about an internal rechargeable battery losing its ability to recharge. I wish the unit was just a bit thinner and a little more rugged but cannot complain. Amazing device worthy of anyone's gadget bag.

I started capturing sound with the Zoom H2n for an outdoor concert video. The capture was amazing and I've since used it for every single video I've produced. The fact that it gives you a choice of sound coverage patterns is particularly useful. In addition to music videos, I now use it as my microphone when recording Camtasia screen captures for training videos. I'm very, very happy with the quality and versatility of this microphone/recorder..

Overall very good audio quality however Zoom's construction leaves much to be desired. Flimsy plastic is everywhere especially the threaded tripod connector. That too is plastic and the threads stripped the first time I used it on a tripod. Unfortunately, it was 3 months into my ownership. UIt should have been metal.
