Customers are saying

Customers enjoy the unique gameplay view and the fun Firefight mode in Halo 3: ODST. The immersive story and varied weapons also receive positive feedback, although some find the campaign too brief and the price point high for the content. Many appreciate the inclusion of new maps. A few players mention concerns about the character's lower durability compared to other Halo protagonists.

    Split from the series...but temporarily?

I received ODST about a day after it came out. Disappointed in the purchase and not worth its full retail price. The campaign was alright, sub-par effort i would say on the games part. The ODST soldier was pretty cool, but died easily. Realistic? Yes. Annoying, yes as well considering every step you take, a bullet follows nearby killing you. Its just Halo 3's characteristics put into another game alike Halo. If you are a die-hard Halo follower and want to know the story behind it, I would say buy it when it goes down in price. Other buyers, do the same. Full Xbox360 game price is not worth this title

This game is awesome, I admit that the story is broken but I enjoy the flashbacks. The games most prized feature is Firefight I could play this all day. Whats better then wiping out hundreds of enemies with three of your friends. Oh yeah thats right wiping out hundreds of enemies with your friends while Skulls are slowy being activated making Firefight very hard, Brings me back to Halo 2's Legendary Mode. Oh and the bonus disk that comes with it holds Halo 3's Multiplayer with all 24 maps including the new mythic maps which is a nice bonus to the game itself.

Most HALO fan will like this game. It is new and different and FPS fans that previously did not like HALO will like this better than previous installments. Playing as a human (non spartan) is what makes this game. There is a feeling of survival that you didn't get playing as the MC. The new weapons are sweet and firefight mode is hours of fun, alone or with friends. The story mode is fun and there's plenty of exploring to do, but the levels could be longer and larger. This game is a must buy for most FPS fans and a definite rent.

A Very Good Expansion, but not worth a full price

Halo 3: ODST was a very good expansion, especially for multilayer if you do not already own Halo 3. Campaign Disc: This was a very good but short campaign with a decent replay value. Firefight is the only reason to keep this game if you don't have Halo 3. Firefight you can play with you're friends online, (though not many people own this game anymore.) Multilayer: THIS WAS THE SAME AS HALO 3!?!?!?!? WHAT? Everyone who owns an Xbox 360 has at least played Halo 3! So why include the SAME multilayer? Hopefully Halo Reach will torn out better. Overall, this a decent game, but definitely needed some work in the long run. Not worth a $ price tag far an expansion. This game should have been on the Xbox Live marketplace for 1200 Microsoft Points.

    ODST is not so great

The game was anticipated to be great, but to me i thought the game was terrible. The Campaign was to short and boring. They could have made the Halo series more interesting by lets say having a scene where Rookie from ODST finds a Spartan Suit and becomes Master Chief. For Firefight, its fun, but only for like twenty minutes. Just like in Gears Of War Horde was only fun until you beat it.

Firefight is a great addition to Halo and the campaign was interesting and fun, but the campaign is too short, and firefight has no matchmaking option. I believe that is a huge mistake, and if they had a matchmaking option for firefight, this would be game of the year material, but without it, it feels like an expansion. I still recommend this game, but you may want to rent it first.

This game is ok, I can't really justify spending 60 dollars on it though. Take it from a Halo fan, this game is really short and the mulitplayer is just from Halo 3, which makes this game a total bummer. The graphics are insane and the weapons are great. I would either rent this game or wait until the price drops which probably won't be until reach is about to launch.

I have been faithfull to the Halo line since the start, I have always had fun playing the games, and this one is no different. With that said the story line is a little lacking if you like the story part of the other halo games than you will be let down by this one it is kinda like the makers just didn't really have a good direction on this one. The gameplay is enough to make it worth the money in my opinion it goes fast and it is a challenge to play

The game adds another dimension to the halo universe. Fire fight is a lot of fun in co-op and the game has a lot of elements that make it unique and keeps the main story moving with a sub plot that has nice twist. The game has several difficulties whether you’re a noob or a vet and with the challenge skulls keep it entertaining. Good luck and continue the fight.

First and foremost, I find it quite upsetting that Grifball is not available for matchmaking at all times. I purchased a game, I found a style I like and I can't have access to it five days out of the week? Why? My only other qualm is with looking around in the game (Halo 3 Multiplayer): It takes way to long to look down at the ground to throw a grenade then look back up to shoot. By the time you look back up, the opponet has destroyed you with their weapon. If you increase the sensitivity to a comfortable x axis then the y axis flys too fast for comfort. Essentially, it's feels as though the sensitivity is not the same for x and y. There's also seems to be a delay in speed, instead of immediatly panning vertically at full speed, there appears to be a transition. Try it yourself. Set the sensitivity to 10 (insane) and press the thumb stick as far down as possible to look at the ground. It's a comfortable speed fully depressed, you can actually time it and stop when you see the ground. Now try to look left and right by applying the same amount of pressure (fully pressed left/right). You can't see anything, it just whips by. Maybe I'm just use to using a mouse for PC FPS gaming, but I feel I would play considerably better if I could play this game with a mouse.

I bought this game to extend my Halo collection and to also get all the Halo 3 DLC which is included on a second disc. The storyline is very in depth and easy to understand when you get farther in to it, gameplay is fun(if your favorite type of games is shooters) and challenging. Certain times I had to stop and think how to get past a level after trying and failing several times but still had a lot of fun.

I rated all 3's beacuse who knows how amazing this game is gonna be[other than testers] the graphics look nice keeping with the halo theme the new Hud looks really cool and thire giveing a whole new experience now other being the super man Master cheif you play as a sorta regular human thats an ODST[Orbiral Drop Shock Trooper i do beleve] and they are makeing the game more realistic you could say with health packs and what not. hey are also adding the Halo 3 multiplayer to all copies wich has all the halo 3 maps on it including the 3 comeing out so people whe dont have Halo 3 can play the multilpayer[no campahin mode] i dont know about if you get eny of the unlockable armor with the disk i doubt it[probley have to unlock it yourself] but the person below me said Halo was unrealistic full ow 5 year olds and to play Cod 4 or somthing. Halo was never ment to be a super realistic game just a fun 1st person with some amazing artwork on guns. and Odst itself has no pultiplayer except i think Fire fight witch is just basicley a horde mode were you fight hordes of enemies that will progresovley get tuffer like Horde mode in GW2

This game is ok. The story line is mediocre. The game play is good. It was hard to get on board with this game from the start. None of the character personalities were anything all that special. Get one of the other Halo games before you get this.

Well, Bungie did it again. They managed to grab every little dollar out of our pockets to buy their maps. When you bought Halo ODST, you just bought all the Halo 3 maps, a 6 hour campaign, and a Firefight Mode. So why is this such a bad thing? As many Halo 3 players know, you CANNOT play online without buying Bungie's new maps. By including this into ODST, they make it sound as if your buying a new multiplayer. Well, your not. Your buying their maps and playing the same multiplayer Halo 3 owners are playing. The 6 hour campaign is just okay, nothing to love there. Firefight mode is a new addition to the Halo universe, though, it doesn't make up the games flaws. If you love Halo to death and want a short campaign, you'll be pleased. For the reasonable gamers who know that Bungie just ripped us off, think twice before you buy.

First off don't listen to the guy who says its terrible. He thinks that COD is so different when it really isn't. Anyways I played Firefight at Comic Con 09 and fell in love. This game is great. The gameplay was perfect and the story looks amazing. If you are a Halo fan BUY THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!

At first it seemed fairly fun, but in the end your character is Master Chief from Halo 1 with different armor and a different name. Graphics were fairly well done, though there are glitches with vehicles, for example, the wheels on the Warthog do not always turn while it is driving. Also, playing through on the normal difficulty, the game lasts only about 5-6 hours. With higher difficulty it may take an extra hour or two. The whole idea that your character is supposed to use stealth and not just run and gun was a fail. You will find that trying to use stealth often gets you killed because even in darkness you get seen by your enemies, and your weapons are just as accurate while running and gunning, even when using heavy weapons like missile launchers, chain guns, none of which I add will weigh you down really. You can carry weapons and flip a warthog or tank just as easily as the Master Chief, and take as much damage as the Master Chief could in the process.

If you played Halo 3 (or 1 / 2) and you wanted to fill in more of the story this a good place to start. It is similar enough to Halo 3 to be familiar but not so much the same as to feel like a rehash. Find the audio logs since the story there is almost as good as the normal story.
