Reminds us of the old days. It works well. It is fun to use the old time percolator.

I would have given this a 5, but agree that walls of percolator are thin. Makes GREAT coffee. No problem using off-the-shelf grounds that state on the can 'for all coffee makers'.

Disappointed, Got a bad feeling when I opened the box because it had a very cheap feel to the build of it, i.e., the way that it met at the seams -if you will. After I plugged it in, the light blue light came on (there's no on/off switch). Then maybe a minute later I heard a pop and the light went off...it was smoking..suppose a circuit fried.. Worst part, I've got to pay shipping to return it or go back to the store (it was an online purchase originally.). Even if I go through the warranty from the manufacturer, I've got to pay Shipping and Handling both ways. I'll think twice before buying a Hamilton Beach product as long as I can, and yes I'll be sure to tell others the same.

I bought this percolator as a gift from my mother to my husband for Christmas in December 2015. He always loved the coffee at Mom's house because it tasted so good and it was always piping hot. I selected this model because of the volume feature, making it easy to see on the outside how much water had been added to the carafe. My husband drinks coffee all morning and he cherished this gift. The unit worked wonderfully until just recently. Now, the heating element has apparently stopped working and it will not perk. So disappointed.

Did a great job percolating our coffee however there was a metallic taste to our coffee even after using it for a week.
