I have the 3-disc version. Value for dollar was great ($10). As for the music itself it mostly rocks. The real standouts are title track, "Atlas," "Moth" and "Spit Out The Bone." The others are good but are not as memorable. It may be b/c the other songs are not as fast. The aforementioned favorites are also the ones that sound closest to "Death Magnetic," so read into that what you will. I am a Metallica fan and love all the band's output (except Lulu). The negatives are that some of these sound like slightly revved up "Load" tracks. Not every one is a total winner but this album grows on me. I listen to it when I work out or run or need to stay awake while driving.

After a long hiatus Metallica return with another slab of hard hitting metal. This time they split the songs across 2 discs (or 3 vinyls) clocking in around the 80 minute mark. The emphasis is on simplicity...and less aggression versus their last outing Death Magnetic. The production is solid and crisp. Long time fans will dig the final track Spit Out The Bone...it's as good of a thrash tune as anything on their first three records. It's always good to hear new Metallica material!

The new Metallica album is definitely one of the BEST metal album that the band has put out within recent memory! Sure, the couple last of albums (an LP and EP) were VERY good, but this one actually captures everything that a true Metallica fan could want! An old raw sound coupled with a new heavier one....this combination truly delivers a fantastic heavy metal album that is sure to please even the most die-hard fan of the band and Metal music lovers alike. Buy it and ENJOY!

As a huge Metallica fan I was patiently awaiting a new album. They did not disappoint as each track is a masterpiece with crushing riffs, solos and epic long tracks. It may not be on the same level as their 80's albums but Metallica has matured and evolved, like it or not.

I have seen a lot of back and forth on whether this is a thrash album or not, or whether the non-thrash songs should be there, etc. This is just simply a really good album and it should be left at that. If you like Metallica's early days, then there are great songs for you. If you like their on-thrash stuff, well there are great songs for you as well! I think it's great that Metallica doesn't limit themselves to just a single genre; for those it bothers, well, get over it!

Metallica is a band that has reached legendary status, and often times I feel like they get a free pass from their fans as a result of this. I do enjoy this album, but if this had come from any other band I don't think I would put on my best of 2016 lists or anything. Surprisingly, I actually think the best track on this album isn't even one of the album tracks at all, but rather the bonus track "Lords of Summer" featured on the deluxe edition's 3rd CD. If you're a fan of the band of course you'll like it, but don't expect them to venture into any uncharted territory here, and as such no reason why this should've taken them 8 years since the last album to deliver.

This album is like a progression on Death Magnetic. The same kind of melodic thrash reminiscent of late-80s Metallica with bit of the Load-era sound and modern production. This record sounds better that Death Magnetic, for sure, an album which suffered from having a mix that was too "loud" for CDs to reproduce. Not as good as Master of Puppets, but better than (Re)Load and an order of magnitude better than St Anger. Possibly their best album since ...And Justice for All.

They still have it but it's almost like they are trying too hard now. Most of the songs on here are pretty amazing and some are not so great. To be honest I have always been a huge Kirk Hammett fan and he actually let me down in this album It's almost like he doesn't even try to solo anymore which is pretty disappointing for a long time fan but James Hetfield is using his old and justice for all singing voice which is the only thing that makes this album over the top!

Hardwired certainly isn't a bad album. It just doesn't offer anything particularly interesting musically. If you are a longtime Metallica fan, you'll probably enjoy this, but to me it sounds like more of the same. The title track is probably the strongest song of the twelve, and I can't help but wonder why they didn't cram the whole album onto one CD, as the songs aren't particularly long. It almost seems like they want fans to think they're getting more bang for their buck. While the material on the bonus CD is excellent, and worth the price alone, overall I think Death Magnetic is a better record than this. For the completist, worth the purchase.

Was kinda worried about this disc/ lp . I'm a hardcore fan and the last couple of disc really did'nt get it for me. But after hearing the first couple of releases on Youtube I was hooked. This is Metallica in full swing! Just like in the old days! The complete disc kicks a**! i got the 3 disc set while it was on sale and it was worth every penny of it. Great to hearthe boys rocking again. NO short songs on this disc. Truely hard rocking Metal Mayhem!

After 8 years Metallica is back, and still rocking just as hard as they always have. Hardwired feels like a tribute to Metallica's 33 years as Rock Gods, with a great selection of songs that feel like they cover Metallica's entire career. The Deluxe version also comes with a 3rd disc of bonus material consisting of 4 additional studio recordings (3 covers and 1 original Metallica song) as well as an entire live show, very well worth the few extra bucks.

Sure, there are the old school fans that want another 'Kill 'Em All.' That ain't gonna happen as the guys are in their 50's now. Some want another 'Black' album. Well, even before Hetfield said it in an interview, this IS a mix of the two...and it's 2016. Not a bad song on there. The bonus disc is cool too with a few other unreleased tunes and their Record Store Day performance. This is a must have if you are even remotely a fan of MetallicA.

In the 8 years since their last album, Metallica have crafted a masterpiece that was well worth the wait and will stand the test of time. This album is definitely one of my favorites from the Metallica catalog. I have been listening to it nonstop since I purchased it over a month ago. It has a mix of styles to appeal to all tastes, from old school thrash to Load/Reload era. There is not a bad track on the album. Highly recommended!

Metallica has always been my number one band. This release hasn't changed my mind. This is solid; not their best as I feel there are some filler tracks on here, but overall it's good stuff. Spit out the bone is easily the highlight here and dream no more is also great. If you're a Metallica fan you probably already have this. If you're on the fence, get it. It's not their 80's material but it shouldn't be either. They still rock.

Some brilliant songs and some filler

Metallica have always been my number 1 band and that is not about to change any time soon. Eight years is a long time between albums but I can kinda understand the hiatus. They are in their 50s now. This album has a few brilliant songs but it also has too many filler ones. 'Murder One', 'Confusion', 'Dream No More', 'MaUNkind' and 'Am I Savage' are poor songs. Slow, boring and un-interesting. I really think they should have kept it shorter. The first 4 songs plus 'Halo On Fire', 'Here Comes Revenge' and 'Spit Out The Bone' would been enough for an album and it would have made for a brilliant album.

This CD keeps coming out it's sleeve and into my car CD player. It is a double sided disc of some classic Metallica and a mix of some of their newer stuff. However, unlike the last album the songs are a "bit" shorter on this one which makes more accessible. There is not one song that I do not like. It starts fast and works it Metallica magic until the end of over 80 minutes. Hopefully, it won't be another 8 years for a new CD!

Anyone who likes Metallica should have already bought this. People will find anything to complain about (It's not fast enough, it sounds like Load, why did they change their sound?) but that's always the case for any band that makes music for 30years. This CD rocks out start to finish, explores some styles from every album before it, and it should be in any fan's collection. Spend a few more dollars and get the extra CD.

I can't ever convince my old school Metallica fan friends that anything they do these days can compare to Puppets or Justice, and while I feel the same way (I always liked their progressive side more), I try and judge their new stuff on it's own merits when I can, and this is a pretty good album with enough moments of pure thrash and twists and turns during the breaks that keeps the longer songs exciting. I think I liked Death Magnetic a little better overall, but this album is not a complete break from it. And it isn't Load II or St. Anger, so hey it can't be all bad.

Hardwired takes me back to the days of Ride the Lightning and Kill 'em All, with a taste of Master of Puppets and the Black Album. Hardwired is worth picking up, and make sure to get the deluxe copy from Best Buy to get the 3rd CD, which is packed with live versions of tracks that aren't even a part of Hardwired. Excellent CD. If you're a Metallica fan, do not hesitate to add this CD to your collection!

I have really enjoyed this album more so then I thought I would. There are moments when I hear old Metallica and I love it. I'm not talking old, like the self titled black album, I'm talking old like Kill Em All or Ride the Lightning. There is also some that obviously has a newer sound to it. The album is pretty heavy all the way through. Only really one song I don't care for. They got rid of that tin can sounding drum also, which I am so happy they did. Good album, not good like old school, but for sure one I will continue to put in the old cd player.
