This is a decent CD, I guess. I mean, what else can I say. Of course it does not have the excitement of Master Of Puppets, which is probably my favorite. And of course it does not have the widespread commercial appeal of The Black Album, because they already did that. Whether or not you believe that they sold out with that recording, is of course your opinion. Some people hated that CD because the band became part of the commercial machine that they always claimed to hate. In 2017, I believe they are just trying to maintain. So many of my favorite artists and groups have either died or disbanded, I am trying not to be overly critical of anyone that I have enjoyed over the years. Between downloads, you tube, pandora, spotify, itunes, poor CD sales, and the fact that Kill 'Em All is almost 35 years old, I would imagine that the band itself may be a little unsure of how to stay relevant. But I knew (or hoped) when I bought this CD, that it would probably be aggressive, distorted guitar, hard rock riffs at its core. That part is true, in my opinion. Have they broken any new ground? Are they repeating themselves? Are they just going through the motions to make a buck off their name/ back catalogue? I do not want to argue those points with anyone. Everyone has their own opinion. I knew what I was going to get, and I got it. However, when I want to enjoy Metallica, I will probably always cue up: Sanitarium, The Four Horsemen, Fade To Black, Hit The Lights, Anesthesia, and Master of Puppets, before I reach for this one. I don't think they will ever match their past glories, I guess that no one does, but I'm glad they are still out there, just the same.

With 8 years between albums (Death Magnetic in 2008) the need for new Metallica was at a high. This album delivers. All songs pull from various aspects of previous albums. I enjoyed it so much, had to eventually get it on vinyl just to have more. Favorite tracks: Now that we're dead, confusion, spit out the bone. Honorable mention to Lords of Summer since it's only on the deluxe version.

Ok all you aging Metalheads, wake up! Here it is, the big hurrah. You have to wonder how hard this was for the guys. They go through bass players like water, they're all older and wiser...well, ok OLDER and you just cannot top something like The Black Album. But man do they try. If you're new to Metallica, Start with Black, go back and hear the earlier stuff, then check this out.

    A return to form

Metallica always manages to release interesting albums with an undeniable attitude. This album is a glimpse at their entire career while keeping the heaviness they became famous for. The majority of the album will have you banging your head in rhythm and if you ever had doubts about Metallica losing their thrash, the album's closer "Spit Out the Bone" will wash them away.

On the first cd you have a wonderful mix of old meets new with songs that remind me of Death Magnetic, the Black album, and Load. The second CD is a more eclectic mix of their "newer" sound. The stand-outs on both are Now That We're Dead and Halo on Fire for a more "mainstream" sound and Spit Out the Bone for the epic trash metal that Death Magnetic never really reached.

Well I bought the deluxe CD which comes with an extra CD (live clips). If you're a Metallica fan then this CD is dedicated to you. A latest CD album from the king of metal band and for those hardcore Metallica fans. I heard this CD, its more hardcore/old stuff jamming when they have their first album in the 80's, I wish they (Metallica) make some music like One song. None of those in this CD's, but still it won't disappoint those younger gen fans where they're selling music. There you have it, Metallica rocks.

After death magnetic I had little hope of another great metallic album. While there wasn't a single song to rival the likes of the black album or any from the Ride the Lightning --- And Justice for All... era of albums there are a couple of good tracks. The bonus extra live stuff really makes this album worth the purchase. If your a hard core Metallica fan you'll like this offering especially over the awful sounding death magnetic (i call the speaker magnet death album). To the fair weather fan... Shrug... Idk.

    POSSIBLY MY FAVORITE METALLICA ALBUM

Most all of the songs, except the title track, follow this formula. Long intro, a couple of verses/chorus, 1 to 2 bridges, 1 to 2 guitar solos, chorus. That being said, the formula works very well. Each song has its own unique sound and story. The music and vocals sound well polished. My only question is why this is on 2 discs instead of 1.

Absolutely love it. Seems like a perfect mixture of all albums from "Kill Em' All" to "And Justice for All". Do yourself a favor and get the deluxe version, it's worth it. The covers of "Remember Tomorrow" (Iron Maiden) and "When a Blind Man Cries" (Deep Purple) are amazing, as is "Ronnie Rising Medley" (4 song medley tribute to Ronnie James Dio/Rainbow).

Went to my local record store and they were out of the album, so I went to Best Buy and got it with the bonus 3rd disc. This is a solid album, and a major improvement from Death Magnetic (especially production wise). The bonus disc nearly gives the main album a run for it's money, with covers and live tracks aplenty. It was a big seller according to the employee that helped me find it, and it is good to hear people are still buying physical copies of music, regardless of what place they buy it.

Metallica is back! Every song on the two discs are very good, most are amazing. The third bonus disc includes songs that are not essential for the full experience of this album. Metallica sounds like they're having fun recording this, which makes it an enjoyable listen. My only complaint is that each disc runs about 40 minutes, which feels cut short.

    Best Metallica album in years

Like the summary says, it's the best thing they've put out in years. It sounds like an album they wanted to make, not one that the record company wanted. Slower than Master or Justice, but just oozes with heaviness. It's not often that I find an album I can listen to without skipping tracks, but Metallica have managed to fill 2 cd"s with no filler.

Metallica finally has a new studio album after 8 years! I was so excited that I simply had to buy it as soon as it was released. This 3-CD Deluxe Edition is incredible. The album features 12 new tracks (my favorites are "Halo on Fire", "Hardwired", and "Confusion") as well as a third disc with 14 bonus tracks. I'm seriously impressed by this album!

I am really enjoying this new Metallica album! I'm finding it to be very much along similar lines as Death Magnetic. If you enjoyed Death Magnetic, I think you will enjoy this. The 3 disc version is the way to go. It's got some extra studio cuts, as well as an incredible live set. The $9.99 I paid at Best Buy was worth it for the live set alone!

I'm an old school Metallica fan. I have almost everything they've recorded but I prefer the original sound. It bugs me when people compare this album to Kill, Ride or Master. They've never recorded anything remotely close to those albums. That being said ... I didn't buy this album expecting to hear a return to past glories. I love what they did in the past and I respect them for it but this band is a different animal now. I got what I paid for and I'm not complaining.

"Hardwired...to Self-destruct" by heavy metal band Metallica was definitely worth the wait! Filled with amazing guitar riffs, heart pounding drums and hard hitting lyrics, the band has shown that they still have what it takes to make any hardcore heavy metal music fan rock out. Great mix of ultra fast upbeat songs and instrumentals!

After a long wait of 8 years Metallica has finally released a new album. All around it's a very solid album. It's better than Death Magnetic and is packed with several very strong songs... Hardwired, Atlas Rise, Moth into Flame, Confusion, Now that We're Dead, Murder One, Spit out the Bone.. if your a Metallica fan you'll be pleased

Going back to the days Metallica and The Cult played a double bill, this Metallica rocks. No doubt about it this Metallica CD delivers in the true Metallica sound. Elements of old school, with a hard driving beat and vocals. I bought 5 CD to give as gifts and each person appreciated the CD. I hope Metallica has many more to follow.

Ok, so I am an old Metallica fan. listened to them in HS and grew up wit Kill em all , Ride & Puppets. That was many years ago. They are still Metallica just have evolved. This is def not my fav but a worthy effort. I will never put down their music as their music has got me thru some tuff times. It is different but they are still talented and much respect for these ol dogs. They are not the Metallica of old, but they are making a mark with the new, STAY HEAVY!

All in all, I dug this big time. Metallica is one of the few bands for which I buy physical CDs, and this was worth it. I'm not sure, however, why it was spread across 3 discs (2 of six songs each, and one of live shows. It could have fit on two. One issue I had is that the "cracked" typeface made the lyrics hard to read.
