Review From a Traveling Catastrophe Adjuster

I really wanted to love this device and everything it promises. As a catastrophe adjuster who’s often deployed for weeks at a time, my goal in purchasing the Hatch Restore 3 was to create calm, slow-start mornings to set a peaceful and proactive tone for long, high-pressure days. The concept is beautiful—sunrise alarms, soothing soundscapes, meditations, and customizable routines. It felt like the perfect addition to my wellness journey and professional lifestyle. But here’s the frustrating part: the Hatch Restore 3 requires WiFi even just to operate the alarm. Unfortunately, during deployments I’m often staying in hotels—typically Marriott properties—and my device has refused to connect to the hotel WiFi. This completely defeats the purpose of investing in a wellness device meant to support me when I need it most. What’s most disappointing is that a sunrise alarm clock should function regardless of internet connection. I wasn’t expecting all features to work offline, but for the basic alarm and light functionality to be inaccessible without WiFi makes this feel impractical for frequent travelers or anyone without consistent, private internet access. Until there’s an update that includes offline usability, I sadly can’t rely on this device for what I originally intended. I still believe in the Hatch vision and hope to see improvements in future versions. For now, it’s a beautiful idea with a frustrating limitation.

    Not super impressed

I've heard great things about this alarm clock, and while there are some benefits, I do feel the cons outweigh the pros. I am not a heavy sleeper by any means, but I struggle to wake up from the alarm, even if it is on the highest volume. The sound is very gentle, and for some that might be great to start the morning off not jumping out of bed because your alarm scared you awake. However, it just does not do the trick for me. In addition, I was hoping to be able to use more of the features, but so many of them are behind a paywall. Personally, if I just spent $170 on something, I don't want to have to also pay for a subscription to use it. The basic features are fine, but there are minimal alarm options, you cannot use the mindfulness activities, and the wind-down is not a usable feature. I do like that I can set the light to turn off after a specific time. I like to read before bed, and the light on this clock is strong enough that I can use it to read. I also tend to read all night, so having the light shut off definitely helps me to actually go to bed and not read all night. It's fine as a clock, and I do like some of the features, but overall, I was not super impressed.
