Heat (1995) is probably one of the greatest best-action crime drama films ever made. As a collector, this is a must-own if you love the original Heat and want a copy of the 4K version as well. I see a lot of negative feedback about the 4K transfer being too dark in certain scenes. For me, this wasn't the case. The 4K transfer actually looks much more realistic, plus the details are amazing compared to the 1080p version. I watched it on a Hisense U8G 55" 4k TV, which has a peak brightness of up to 1500 nits! So, dark scenes weren't an issue for me since my TV is extremely bright. I could confidently say that with the right equipment and a TV with a good brightness setting, the dark scene would not be an issue for you. With that being said, buying this 4K copy is worth it for me. This Heat 4K SteelBook version includes three discs: a physical and digital code for the 4K version of Heat 1995; a 1080p Bluray version; and Heat 1995 extras such as behind the scenes and the making of the film on another disc. A must-have for collectors and fans of the classic Heat 1995! I would buy it again! Highly recommended.

Michael Mann's "Heat" is a very good crime drama. I'm not sure what else to write about this film that hasn't already been written. The 4K transfer seems to have received a mixed reception. On my 4K Hisense U6G, the film looks great. However, others have complained at how much darker the transfer looks. The audio encoding is the same DTS-HD from the previously released Blu-ray disc. I still highly recommend this 4K UHD of Heat. The SteelBook looks phenomenal, too!

“Heat” what more is there to say great movie great transfer IMO if you see other reviews you might hear that’s it’s too dark I don’t think it is I think it looks great definitely a great buy for any fan of the movie or film enthusiast it’s a classic.

Love this film ! One of the best heist movies ever and amazing Dolby Vision HDR Grading- loved it! Only wish the audio was in Dolby Atmos, but DTS HD Audio was great !

First thing is a great looking steelbook. Thank you Best Buy for using a box to get it shipped to me. Second the 4K HEAT is a much better presentation than 2017 Blu-Ray. I know there is a lot of debate out there about it being too dark, but that is Dynamic Range part of HDR. If you have a properly calibrated TV that can display Wide Gamut Color and gets bright enough with good contrast, this 4K is definitely much better than bluray. In lieu of a great TV, if you have Panasonic U820 4K player (You can get one at Best Buy) you can use the HDR optimizer to make sure to tone map to your preferences. But yes on low end TVs or poorly calibrated TVs this will look darker than 2017 bluray which is much brighter, but you will not get the true 4K.

Blown away by this transfer! Movie looked amazing! And the audio blew me away! That gunfight...man!! Steelbook is great too!

This movie isv one of my favorites of all time. I can't even say it's DeNiro in his prime because of everything that he's done prior (not so much after). Michael Mann puts together this 3-hour timeless epic that pits the 2 greatest actors ever against each other in a game of cat and mouse. If you haven't seen it yet, what are you waiting for? This 4K steelbookl is stunning (and looks so much better in person). The transfer is top notch and the audio, although it's the same as the one from the blu ray, kick serious butt.

Great movie & nice steelbook, I just wish the runway was incorporated SOMEHOW into the artwork. I have not yet watched the 4K disc, so I can't speak to its quality.

A Masterpiece that has aged VERY well. Do not hesitate to watch this movie. Its an epic crime film.

Finally Heat was released on 4K-UHD. Makes the scenes especially the action sequences stand out.

Oh, Heat… How many times have I bought you? Let me count the ways… If I would’ve started my collection with VHS, I would’ve started with the 2-tape VHS set of this movie. However, being too young I wouldn’t pick up my first copy until the release of the special edition DVD. Then came the ‘Definitive Director’s Edition’ on Blu-ray. And now we get the same edition in 4k with a sleek, gorgeously appropriate steely blue steelbook case. I bought’em all. And never with a moment of doubt that I wouldn’t. It’s Heat. It’s a classic that’s influenced the likes of Christopher Nolan so how can you not appreciate it?! Don’t bother with my Best Buy review if you need to learn more about the film, that’s what the rest of the internet is for. If you know and love this film, then from one diehard to another, take my word for it: take the plunge and preserve a classic in its best looking release yet!
