This is not your typical bloodbath horror film with cliche or predictable jumps and scares around every corner. This slow burn film escalates from eerie to creepy to horrifying and does not defuse. The opening act is a great introduction to the troubled family with a mysterious presence lingering about. The second act is filled with horrifying images, the tormented family breaking down and uncanny past coming to light. The final act reveals a fire that cannot be put out and wont let go until closing scene. The story holds a great pace and well put together to keep the mystery and suspense flowing throughout the film.

This has the most divided audience. The people either love it or truly hate it, I personally loved it. It's more psychological horror until the last 30 minutes. The 4K is beautiful and adds to the film.

This has the feel of a movie like Rosemary's Baby and Don't Look Now. It is a slow burn film just like those two films. But it is overall one of the better horror films to come out in quite a while.

Toni Collette is amazing as always! Definitely some spooks in this film so watch out 4K version is great!

I was surprised by how much I liked this film. The plot isn't that original as horror films go, but it makes the most of it and the actors are great in their roles.

This film is probably one of the most creative horror films of the past twenty years (along with others as "Let Me In," "The VVitch," "Mama," and a few others.

Man oh man is the beginning of this movie slow... and littered with red herrings. Typical A24 fair, beautiful cinematography and staged shots, overlapping extreme unease. I would do a movie-meets-movie matchup but I’m afraid every attempt would result in spoilers. If you liked The Witch, this is the exact same thing. So many aspects of this movie seem to have no purpose. If you think something is going to play into the plot of this movie, it won’t. What you will get is classical horror tropes, few jump scare tactics, and a major ending payoff. If you gave up half way, dive right back in.

This is one horror movie that fans of the genre shouldn’t miss. It’s slow burning, yet fills you with dread that creeps up underneath your skin and doesn’t let up until that crazy finale.

2018 has been a great year of horror for me between this, and Halloween. Saw this in theaters and had to pick it up. There’s one scene that stuck with me for weeks after first viewing.

Hereditary doesn't rely on jump scares or anything that modern horror movies do these days. It tells a story that creeps you out and that'll stick with you awhile. Love this one.

The title says it all. This is an extremely engaging, tense horror movie that grips you from the beginning and never lets go. Creative and original, it will not disappoint.

If you want a movie with more of a psychological scare more than jump scares for a movie this would defiantly be the movie for you.

Heard and read reviews that this movie was very scary and the Rosemary's Baby/The Exorcist of this era but that hype didn't live up at all. Was ok. nothing special.
