Received the updated "Complete" edition with all the DLC on the cartridge. It tells you on the front cover and on the back of the case that says "Includes 4 Giant Content Packs". Godmaster, Lifeblood, The Grimm Troupe, and Hidden Dreams.

I had this game on my nintendo e-shop wish list for months, but after discovering the existence of the physical version I couldn't resist. Without doubt, one of my favourite games of all time. A vast, atmospheric, detailed world to explore. Lots of secrets, different abilities and upgrades to discover. Plenty of challenging platforming and a huge variety of enemies and bosses, requiring skill and often persistence to defeat. The story is deep and cryptic and the characters you meet are unique and interesting. I love the art style, the haunting music and the sense of progression, as you come to learn the worldmap and master the enemies and controls. Not to mention all the DLC is included, adding countless more hours of gameplay to an already large game. Team Cherry have lovingly crafted an intricate, expansive world with it's own distinctive and intriguing aesthetic and lore. In addition, I knew about the existence of two print versions of the game: an incorrect one, where there were only 3 dlc in the cartridge (the fourth one needed to download it) and the exact one where the 4 dlc was already inside the cartridge. This difference in print was known from the back of the cover: the exact one, that is, the one that came to me, has one of the thumbnails (the most right) with golden colors. In the wrong one, instead of that thumbnail there is an image of a fight on a bridge with bluish colors. A true masterpiece and a must play! I can't wait for the sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong.

One of the best independent games on the switch, maybe even just one of the best games overall. The art style is splendid, the music and atmosphere were beautiful, and the gameplay is crisp and responsive. I would recommend this game to everyone, and have. Especially for the price, it's a must have. The only reason I gave it four stars and not five, is because I am an amateur video gamer, and this can be too challenging for me at times. Admittedly, I did get a little better at it, as I went deeper.

Hollow Knight is really a long adventure; if you like exploring huge beautiful caverns and trying to defeat enemies, within a nice soundtrack, you will love this game too. :) The graphics are unique and excellent. Hollow Knight is so much fun! :D There are so many helpful items that can be found or bought with in-game currency. Your Hollow Knight will get more effective at defeating enemies as you progress, new skills, in-game maps, and equip-able items. And if you find certain creatures you can travel to and from those locations quickly. This switch bundle comes with the 4 dlc upgrades, an interesting instruction manual, a map, and a 15% off of all Hollow Knight products promo code. Note: when you get close to perishing press the + button and select the third lowest menu item, something about saving and quitting. If you do that: all progress will be saved, you won't lose all of your Geo coins collected and have to fight your shadow to get them back, and you will start sitting on the last bench you sat on. (This is also very easy to do bc the game is made extremely well; almost instantaneous loading time.)

Where do I begin? This has been one of my most played games ever. I originally tried it out expecting to hate it due to difficulty, but I quickly fell in love with the difficult but fair gameplay. Truly a masterpiece of game design, art style is impeccable, and the soundtrack will stick with you long after you’ve beaten the game. It’s rare to find a game, especially an indie game, that nails every aspect of the experience. This is worth owning physically, digitally, and on every platform you have. Only downside is you will be anxiously awaiting the sequel that was announced five years ago and still not released.

Everything about this game is flawless. The level design, the controls, the bosses, the amount of content, the music, the atmosphere, the story and lore, the characters, etc . . . I could go on and on, but let me just say that this is the single greatest Metroidvania ever made. Hands down. Unless you can't handle difficult games, you owe it to yourself to go out and try this immediately.

Hollow Knight is a metroidvania with a Dark Souls styled combat system. The gameplay is tight and responsive, and it has a great soundtrack. The story is cryptic, being told only through certain NPCs and various tablets scattered throughout the kingdom of Hallownest. The game encourages exploration and gives the player new abilities the more they explore. My only complaint is that it is easy to get lost if the player doesn’t have a map.

This is one of the best sidescrolling games in the switch.

If you're an old school gamer like me growing up in the 80's playing on the original NES playing platformers. Then this is a must own game. Soundtrack is amazing, the art work is all hand drawn, and the difficulty is like dark souls series. Basically this game is a mixture of Metroidian, Dark Souls difficulty, side scroller platformer.

Hollow Knight is the masterpiece that everyone has already claimed it to be. It's the type of game that slowly digs it's claws into you while gradually feeding you crumbs of sustenance while you beg for more. It's strength lies in how well it conveys emotion through it's areas and npcs. From calm brooding areas like the City of Tears to Deep Nest which will make even horror fans uneasy it always nails (Ha) exactly the mood it needs to. The NPCs are so similar to NPCs in a game like Dark Souls where they are in and out of the game fairly quickly, but their designs and especially the "voicework" are so fantastic that they stick with you throughout the playthrough. It's difficulty can initially be a barrier for some, but then you git gud. A truly enveloping experience for all gamers, not just fans of the metroidvania genre. Very cute games that provides no direction. You must have good memory because maps are limited until you find them. Story is found in objects and statues with a few cut sceens. Love the game its a great challenging side scroller that i am getting more game play time out of than i expected!

A while back (before Dread was real), I was complaining about the lack of Metroid on Switch and a friend recommended Hollow Knight as a game to scratch that itch. Turns out, they were right. :-) This is the first game in a while to capture my attention. I bought it in the middle of some vacation time and spent hours playing it each day until vacation ended. The visuals are fantastic and parts of the soundtrack give me shivers. I can't recommend Hollow Knight enough. My only complaint is that I found gameplay a bit twitchy using the native controllers. Once I started using my SNES-style controller (and its d-pad instead of the joystick), things improved dramatically. If you like Metroid/Castlevania type games, buy this.

This is my first platform game since playing on the Gameboy Advance, and I instantly fell in love. There is a learning curve, but overall the game is challenging and engaging.
