I thought this was a great product based on the reviews, but when placed the full tank back on and turned it on water started coming out of the front. I checked the cap and made sure it was firmly in place. I ended up returning it and buying a different one.

This humidifier is easy to fill and setup. It allows the user to set the humidity level and mist level independently. I use a separate hygrometer and place it close to where I want the humidity level to be. The indicated humidity on the unit is always higher than the separate hygrometer because of the mist cloud around the unit. The humidity is still regulated but at a higher indicated humidity.

Threads for the cap to seal the water broke within a few days. Glad I could return it. Thin plastic at that area.

Still working after 7 years

I believe I originally bought this for my tortoises about 7 years ago. Now I use for myself in the winter so I can breathe better. I have read other comments from people who had issues, and I think I can provide some tips on how to keep this lasting as long as I have.
Someone said it would turn off as soon as you turn it on. This happened to me before and I realized it would happen after filling the tank. Turns out I had to wait for the water from the tank to settle and then it would turn on and stay on no problem. Make sure you are letting it do this (takes less than 30 seconds) before thinking it is broken.
Do not leave it without the demineralization capsule. I didn’t change mine for years, but sure enough as soon as I took it out, the minerals built up all over the pieces that keep it working. It was easy enough to clean off and as soon as I cleaned it thoroughly it was working again. Clean machines really do run better.
I would buy this again considering it has lasted me so long and the only issues I had were human error, not the machine. Will be buying another demineralization capsule to keep me from having to clean it. Also, have never used distilled water. 7 years and I have only used tap water.

I'm so happy the few negative reviews did not dissuade me from purchasing this humidifier. I LOVE IT! I used it yesterday and for the first time in several weeks I did not wake up with a scratchy, sore throat.
While it is not totally silent, it is very quiet -- one reviewer called it a "calming, white noise sound". I am also glad I bought the Geek Squad protection plan so now I can have this for two full years! (Unlike other humidifers/air diffusers I've purchased on Amazon that quit working.) My vet thinks this will be beneficial for my dogs' Brachycephalic Airway Syndrome (various upper airway problems found in short-nosed, flat-faced dog breeds). I would buy it again in a heartbeat!

I bought this for my nursery, works very well! The humidifier has many features: adjust the amount of humidity, lighting and timer function. Really helped with the baby’s cough.

No warm vapor and counterintuitive design.

Instructions say to wait 20 minutes for warm vapor. An hour later, vapor is still the same temperature and is not warm. Drove many miles out the way to find one in stock, so not particularly pleased at the waste of time and money on fuel and wear and tear only to have to return it. Also, having to invert and sit the finished top of the water tank down on a surface to fill it is not a good design and is an instant recipe for scratches and rubbed off paint on a primary, very visible design element. You don't sit your glasses lens down on any surface, so one would not expect to slide around a polished plexiglas and painted assembly on a hard surface while filling. Forget hanging on to it under the tap since it is conical in the inverted postion and will most likely get away from you as it gets heavier. Use a towel to protect the "top" of the reservoir when inverted and filling if you want to maintain its good looks. I undersand that the tank angle when inverted may be necessary to fit under conventional sink while giving some additinal capacity, but other manufactures choose to use split tanks to solve this design issue. There is another review reporting a fumble, as it were, when handling the less than ergodynamically designed tank since it is tapered and potentially slippery in the inverted position--opposing team: 6; consumer: 0. The extra point is good! The night light might have been a cool psychedelic feature for parties, but I i will never know.

Worked perfectly for 35 days. Naturally a 30-day return policy. There is absolutely NO HoMedic Customer Service. Emailed them twice-No reply. Called their 800 number only to be put on hold every time. I waited about 30 minutes and gave up each time. Pitiful customer service.
DON"T BOTHER WITH THIS ITEM.
