    Red Dawn in game form...

This first shooter game reminded me of the old Red Dawn movie. When Korea invades the United States and a handful of people (kids in the movie) are fighting back in guerrilla war tactics. It keeps you on your toes on what you are tasked with doing, but I say that is well worth it. Give it a try if you like first shooter games and enjoy story lines that have you a center part of the rebel force.

This game is better than the lame movie remake about an invasion on American soil. Love this game!

The best thing that happened to Crysis2

The long FPS dry spell continues. Nothing since CoD Black Ops, which was only good not great. Homefront had the potential to be a great game. Great storyline, which made me pre-order it. From the beginning, the AI seemed to get in the way. You only get to go through a door first throughout the whole mission. Most of the time, you can't go through until all the AIs have gone through. You get use to it. The guns shoot true and you have to scavenge for ammo at times. The campaign is REALLY short. I'm not a good shooter (being 50 and all) and I finished it in 4 days, plus I work full time so I only get 1/2 to 1 1/2 hours to play each night. The story is good. I'll give it that, but it has an incomplete ending. They (THQ) could have added a lot more to the game but did not. Also, having to have a code for multiplayer? Come on, I already paid $60 for this, both me and my kids should be able to do the multiplayer (we play on seperate xboxes with seperate IDs). In the end THQ will join Teryarch as one of those companies I will avoid. I hope Crysis2 is good because now I have to dump another 60 to try to get a decent FPS kick.

    I Want a Refund-I Feel Like a Victim

I do not know where to start. I'm an older gamer who loves a first person shooter, especially those which have vehicles(and I'm not a COD fan). I pre-ordered this here at BB because of the free headset. The headset is a noise-cancelling chat only headset, which means you can hear your friends just fine, but you can not not hear the game. Who thought this was a good idea?? No game audio??? As for the game, the graphics are poor, probably some of the worst I have seen on the 360. I don't really care about the length of the single player, but it just sort of ends out of nowhere. The voice audio/prompts in the single player seem to lag with what you are doing, so it can be confusing. The AI partners also block you from going through doorways quite a bit. There was only one good scene, and that was involving you flying a helicopter, and for some reason, the graphics seemed to be better for that mission. The multiplayer is a mess. I've had the game for almost a week now, and I have only been able to get into a game a few times, and that is after waiting forever in a lobby. My co-worker and I tried to get in as a party, and never were able to do so. When you do get in, you have to buy the vehicles (which usually get destroyed in seconds-and then you have to save to buy another one), so if you are not a top-notch player, good luck with that. I know they were trying to give everyone a chance at getting different types of vehicles, but in my opinion, they failed. I have never written a review for a video game before this, but just wanted to warn others. I am trading in it tomorrow, and my co-worker trade his today. I'm so bummed, I was really looking forward to this game. I buy a lot of games, and this was easily the worst........sigh.

    Amazing storyline!

I absolutely love the story line on this game! Its phenomenal! I really got hooked into it like if it was a movie! Really bad that the campaign was REALLY short. I beat it in the first day and i dont normally beat games in one day. As bad that is like i said I definitely enjoyed the campaign. As for the multiplayer, the first day was absolutely terrible due to the fact that servers were really bad and was for 200,000 people when they sold 375,000 copies alone the first day. However now its a lot better and very fun and I like that its team based. Another thing i dont like though was the graphics. Seems like im playing something off of ps2. Pretty bad graphics! If this game turns into a series then it definitely has a lot of potential to turn around their mistakes. If you like shooters with a good storyline and fun multiplayer then pick this up.

In a nut-shell: This game is a 6 hour interactive movie experience. This isn't a normal 20 hour FPS game with story. You are a silent action hero that witnesses and helps the movie plot along. I've been playing for several hours, and I'm just not impressed from the gameplay. The story is well put together, and really tries to pull on your heart strings to show the downfall of America and what it's like to live there now. You are an escaped POW that was taken by the Korean military for "re-education". And now you fight along side the Rebel Resistance. The world is very immersive in the beginning. The settings are well thought out. The combat is fierce and fast. But the downside: Invisible walls, so you want to explore, but your guy comes to a stop up against invisible boundry lines. Bad scripting events, meaning I'm going to collect weapons and ammo, only to trigger an "event" which means a tank rolls through a house but I'm too far out in the open, and I'm killed, or bombed by a scripted airplane event and killed. Retry the whole firefight again... And make sure you know where to stand so you aren't killed by a scripted event. The game holds your hand too much, and doesn't give you the freedom to explore and take the game at your pace. You are pushed by a guide (Connor) to constantly run and gun along him. So it's more like an interactive action movie experience, than a normal FPS game. The multiplayer allows you to earn points to spend on upgraded weaons and skills, like CoD. But rent this one first and then try a buy if you find this one is more for you...

Besides the credits being longer than the campaign play. weak graphics, and the occasional lack in responsiveness this game is just average. Campaign will take almost any level of player 3-5 hours. In addition multiplayer freezes up or may not even allow you to connect. Unless you just have money to blow, HOME-FRONT is definitely a rent me please...game.

This game was excellent at release. Interesting Story with awesome multiplayer. But now that has changed Pro's -Excellent story setting -Amazing Multiplayer**** Con's -dated graphics -FPS stutters at times -campaign is linear, short, and little replay value. The reason this game is now dirt cheap is because the Online Component is shut down. The servers for all systems are gone. You can play private matches but thats it. PC is the only way to fully enjoy this game now

I have been waiting on this game all year. I know it is getting lots of bad reviews too. The problem here is people are so scared to get used to something different other than COD or Battlefield. This game is not that bad at all. In fact the multiplayer is really fun if the connection is decent. I have noticed it has its problems with lag and not being able to connect to servers and getting kicked out of games. They will iron out this problem and the multiplayer will be solid. I really enjoyed my online experience with this game when it worked correctly. The campaign does seem to be fairly short but still way above average. The story is good too if you take the time to listen to it. This is definitely no call of duty game but it's definitely worth a try. I think this game is alot like battlefield in many ways. The vehicles are not as bad as people are saying they are once you learn how to use them. I think this game will be a solid mp experience for anyone once all the bugs are worked out but until then it will just be mediocre.

I was so geeked when I saw the previews for this game. i'm a real red dawn fan and love the premise. But this Game torqued my chain from almost the get go. i played with all the settings for the controller and video etc.. but felt like I was moving through jelly or quick sand, movement was just to difficult to interact with after playing BF2 and Ops, they were much smoother. Also, I like to pick my way through a level, i don't like feeling like cattle being pushed through a shoot. this game was the worst, from the get go the battle field seemed like a 10' by 10' cell i was fighting out of and with the terrible response to the controls I was dieing almost every level at least two to three times if not more. The Graphics stink, felt like wolf enstien or doom. the premise is good but the character development is bad there is no real attachment to the characters as in Red Dawn the movie. I hated this game, I'm going to try and bring it back and let best buy sort it out with THQ or who ever. I stopped playing after only the first 1/2 hour. i cant' image going 4 1/2 more hours as the reviews claim which is way to short in the first place, but for me it was even shorter. Almost wish I could remove it from my gamertag game history. Disslike it that much. . I've already told my xbox black ops clan to stay away.

One of the best stories I have played for a FPS.

I have played a lot of first-person shooters. This reminds me a lot of a Call of Duty title in how it controls, but it has a much more somber mood like with a Resistance game. I actually enjoyed collecting the newspaper articles that showed how the USA came to be invaded by Korea. Someone really put a lot of thought into this story. It is challenging on the Guerrilla setting, and similar to most COD games on veteran (not like COD: World at War). I did not get to play the on-line portion. I bought this new from Best Buy, but it didn't come with the on-line code that was supposed to be included. For the parents out there, there is a LOT of bad language in this game (rated M game). The F word is used constantly, and there are not content editing options like on Gears of War or some of the COD games.

A relaxer from Call of Duty

When I first popped in the video game disc, I didn't expect much. I was encouraged to buy this game by the looks of the single player. However, after beating the outstanding single player story in under 5 hours, I turned to the multiplayer thinking it was a rip off of Call of Duty; It was not! Though killstreaks are a bit overpowered, I found the multiplayer gameplay to be less uptight like Call of Duty and a bit more relaxing. It takes 4x as much team work as COD to win, and playing as a helicopter is just flat out fun. Graphics did not suite me as much however as well as the responsiveness of the gameplay.

When initially hearing about this game, and seeing the trailer, I was excited. They had the ability and opportunity to combine the best of Call of Duty and BF:Bad Company. However, they missed the mark in a big way. The graphics seemed like they were from early 2000's and the script lacked any real feeling and was way to corny. The multiplayer was also a big letdown. As soon as you spawn into a map, you either get sniped from across the map, killed by a predator drone, hit by a hellfire missile, or killed by a helicopter... and there's nothing you can do about it. You have minimal points, and it's impossible to gain any if you get killed repeatedly upon spawning. The premise of the game was good... and I think many people were excited for it. However, it turned out to be a pretty big flop in the end. I beat it and "played" a few games of multiplayer, then traded it in the next day before the trade value went down.

    Nothing Appealing Overall

Poor Graphics and Sound. Horrible problems with multiplayer matchmaking. Yes, dedicated servers were great for the few matches I was able to get into, but with bad graphics, jerky player movements, and limited customization, it's not a replacement for COD games, and can't compete against the BF games. It's about the same level as MOH. The campaign is ridiculously short. Overall, it's not worth $60 by far.

I was expecting more from this game. The game doesn't seem to have the plot and story to suck you into the game. The multiplayer also is a bit the same way. The multiplayer seems a bit laggy too. I may be comparing it to much to Battle Field Bad Company 2. I seem to favor BF: Bad Company 2 over this game but this game is fairly good. If you don't like playing with vehicles or if you like smaller battles and infantry only, I wouldn't get this game because multiplayer is practically all vehicles.

Don't even consider wasting your time on this game, it is almost as bad as Front Lines. The graphics are very poor, and not only is the voice acting bad, but the dialogue is cliched and so are the characters. The game makes no sense and develops poorly, nothing is explained and there is never a clear point to what you are doing and certain events just seem thrown into it. The attempt to make the game dramatic just makes it sloppy and poorly edited. You sprint slowly and tend to drift off to one side, and some pieces of cover are destructible, but you won't know it until you are dead...and there is no bullet penetration through thin cover. Enemy AI is unpredictable (not in a good way), and your counterparts are worthless and unable to shoot. Even the multi-player is mediocre and comes across as a bad mix between Call of Duty and Battlefield 2. The spawn points are ridiculous and the vehicles are absurdly difficult to destroy. Garbage.

So I dont know what these other reviewers were expecting but it was way beyond my expectation. At first the online was a little disappointing but I gave it some time and alternated game modes and became familar with the new system. Now its hard to get offline. While the campaign is short and most people are upset about that I enjoyed it immensely. If you take the time to enjoy the cut scenes and enviroment you'll be pleasently surprised. Overall I love the game and will be playing it for awhile. It doesnt by any means replace COD or BF2 but its not supposed to. I feel it can stand on its own despite the simlarities.
