    A True Original Tale

Whether there is a disclaimer for this being based on a true story or not, this really is a very close take on life growing up in the Midwest and yes, Indiana. I know, I am a Hoosier. Those from either Coast of the U.S. and everywhere in between have asked how much of this is true to everyday life. Take out the Hollywood, which there is not a lot of in this film, and you have a Hoosier lifestyle. Though people in the Midwest are not always the first to follow a new trend or catch up with the rest of society when it comes to overcoming issues, this film was a great take on the laid back life of it.

Probably one of the better basketball films that have ever come out, Hoosiers tells the tale of a small town community that builds a team and takes on giants. Gene Hackman is a tough coach that brings a group of kids together and builds up confidence in them to become men. It is based on a true story of the 1954 Hoosier basketball team from Milan High School that wins a state title. The music score is really iconic and reminded me of The Natural/Field of Dreams. A great 80's sports film.

gene hackman is a great actor and shows it as the coach in this movie...esp when he gets angry---just like in the Crimson tide ----When he has one of the best lines in movie history---they're fueling their missles we dont have time to f### around hahaha or when he says mr hunter im captain of this ship- not shut the f### up...ok different movei but same great actor... always enjoyed this film ever since i saw it back in day check it out---

One of the greatest sports movies of all time. I start to realize how old I am getting when I hear how many of the young people I work with have never seen this movie or even heard about it. Great movie to watch as the college basketball season kicks off and then again come tourney time. Love this movie!

This movie is not just about basketball, but the story is classic underdog. You will have to ignore some obvious goofs, especially related to the score and one of the players shows back up out of the blue (see the deleted scenes that explains that). This does not take away from a great sory and feel good movie.

It's simply the classic story of the underdog against overwhelming odds. But yet, it's based loosely on a true story from before Indiana separated the high school basketball tournament into divisions, and all teams in the state participated to find the ACTUAL best team in the state.

What makes this one of the most popular sports films of all time isn't just the sport, it's because it's such a human-interest film, such a wonderful story of giving people second chances in life. Add a true-life David beat Goliath story and you have an appealing film.

Hoosiers is one of the greatest sports movies of all time. It's up there with Brian's Song. The 1954 basketball team from a small Indiana community that won the state championship shows how they overcame a multitude of obstacles. You will love it!

Hoosiers is one of those timeless movies that always gains popularity during March Madness. The customer service I received during this trip to the Best Buy on North Academy in Colorado Springs was spot-on. The movie was well hidden but the store showed inventory. The BB associate easily spent 20 minutes helping me look for this movie. That is above and beyond, thanks!
