I have this for 1 year and 1 month and a brush fell off after 5 uses. Our house has carpet in 4 bedroom (11x11) and living room (17x13) and dining room (12x12). It cleans carpet which dries in 30 to an hour, depends on the weather. Stains you have to clean first before using this cause it does not clean stains with the detergent u use. The water tank was leaking during 3rd use. Maybe my fault cause i put hot water instead of just luke warm. Good thing i got a protection plan, BestBuy replaced it and i got a protection plan for the new one also for 30 bucks it is worth it.

Got this machine based on the reviews of other people and am glad that I did. This does exactly what it is supposed to and better then expected as well. My floors were getting dirty with my sons juice that he has spilled, and with a once over from the steam cleaner, the spots were gone. We are happy we got this device!

I listed a couple cons - it's not perfect. The water supply is quickly used up, and it doesn't heat up the water... but for the price, you expect a couple shortcomings. I put in hot water, so I don't need the vacuum to heat it, and it's quick and easy to prepare more solution, so I don't mind if it runs out quickly. The vacuum itself works well at picking up dirt - I keep my carpets pretty clean, but this has always managed to pick up large amounts of dirt and the water testifies to the fact that it does its job. One of the nicest things about the vacuum is how well the water suction does - the carpets are nearly dry when done, and a couple hours with a fan blowing on them will finish drying them.

I don't own one - YET!! I borrowed my neighbors and fell in love with it within the first 5 minutes of use! It works great! I love the fact that if you go over the carpet a few times with just the machine (no cleaning solution dispursed), it dries the carpet so that you can walk on it within minutes of cleaning!

I read all of the reviews before making the purchase. The pros definitely outweighs the cons. A must if you have pets. The vacuum steamer really gets the dirt out of rugs even old stains. Adding fabric softer to the water makes the carpet smells really fresh. You won't be disappointed with this purchase.

I just bought and used this steam cleaner today, and I love it!! I live in a rented townhouse, and my puppy had diarrhea all over my upstairs hallway. It smelled TERRIBLE, and left stains that I was afraid would never come out. Fearing the worst (having to replace all my carpet) I researched cleaners and this one was reasonable in price and had attachments for upholstery which I like, so I bought it. (I used the in store pick up option and was in and out in like two minutes! It was awesome). Got it home, put it together in under 10 minutes filled it up, and carried it upstairs. Turned it on, and almost immediately I could see it getting the stains up. I followed the directions (pull and push it slowly, use two wet strokes then two dry ones) and THE STAINS ARE GONE!! You would never guess that my puppy had made a mess. I highly recommend this product to anyone that has a pet/kid/husband etc that makes a mess. If you are thinking about it, get one!! You won't be sorry! And it will probably save you hundreds of dollars in pro services and/or replacing carpet.

We have a dog and two cats ,and I have paid over $100 to have the house steamcleaned by professionals...so at that price, I decided to pick up one of these steam vacs to see if it would do the job. I researched a good bit, and decided on this one based on the reviews and its cost compared to some other models. Set-up was fairly easy as was actually using the vac itself (if you follow the directions of course). I noted that some people stated that it is easy to break and has plastics, but honestly all of the steam vacs I looked at were like this. The machine did a great job of cleaning the floors and I really couldn't believe how much dirt it sucked up-the carpets look great again. It took about an hour to dry completely. I would recommend one of these steam vacs - it will pay for itself in a couple of uses.

Great rug cleaner...easy to use and does a great job. I would highly recommend this cleaner.

I was skeptical that a small carpet cleaner could do the job. But this carpet cleaner has made a believer out of me. The carpet shampoo works great. But I sometimes use just plain hot tap water and I get fantastic results. Traffic areas, pet areas, coffee/wine spills--all come clean. Worth it!

I am a review junkie and when I read the reviews on this hoover, I was excited to purchase it. I paid $159 and thought that it would be well worth the money. I did buy a 2 year warranty through BB for another $20. I got home, and shampoo'd my living room. I thought it was good. My favorite thing, the carpet dried SO fast. I tried many different cleaning solutions in it to see which I liked best, and still love my Bissell pet one (smells so good). I did find I had to go over things a lot more with this machine than with a regular shampooer, but, I was fine with that for the price. Until I went to use it the 2nd time a couple of weeks later to do a bedroom. The suction would not work. I tried everything ... it just wouldn't work. So went back to Best Buy and I was within my 30 days so they just exchanged it out. I thought surely that I just happened to get a dud. I got home, put the new one together... and the brushes don't work! Really??? So, this is today and I already have the box in my van and about to load this one up. I really don't think I should even try for a 3rd even though it's said that "3rd times a charm". I think I'll go rent a rug doctor on the way home!

After reading the reviews, I decided to make the purchase. I'm very happy about the product. It's not that heavy and does a great job of cleaning the stains. The carpet drys in a short period of time.

This is a very easy machine to use for everyday dirt. This does not take the place of or compete professional-grade machines

I have cream colored carpets and haven't washed them in 4 years. me & my fiance talked about replacing them but I wanted to try using the steam vacuum before I did it. I no longer need to get new carpets. This steam vacuum gave the old carpet a new life!!!

cleans excellent, my rugs smell and look great. The rugs are dry to the touch right away, my last cleaner left them too wet. Very happy with the results

Cleaned white carpet that had not been cleaned for over 5 years and this cleaner made it look like new! You must do the baseboards by hand as the brushes do not go up against the wall, nor does the hand brush...but this machine does the job! No complaints!

I really love how it cleans my carpet. I have two boys and a dog so my carpet is pretty dirty.

I have never owned a steam cleaner for my carpet, so I read a lot of reviews before I took the plunge. I decided on the Hoover SteamVac with Clean Surge and my husband and I both love it! It almost makes cleaning the carpet fun. It was very easy to put together and use. I was worried that the water containers would be too small, but that wasn't a problem at all. In fact, they were perfect - not too small that you had to exchange it too often; not too big to carry. I loved being able to see the water getting sucked up - I could tell exactly where the wettest spots were. Rentals leave behind a swamp, so that was another concern of mine. Not an issue - the carpet doesn't feel soaked and it dries pretty quickly. Also, it was evident that it was doing a great cleaning job. Overall, it does a great job and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

I love this carpet cleaner. My carpet came out cleaner then when I paid someone to do it. I used the deep cleaning hoover cleaning solution and my carpet is clean,fresh and soft. I don't know how I did without it all these years. Thanks Hoover.

Did a great job cleaning the floor rugs in our apartment and for much less than the professionals would have charged. This way we can use it many times more as well!

As a previous owner of a Hoover Steam-Vac (15 yrs +/-) I was happy with the old machine and it's design, even if a few components were fragile, or needed "tweaking" to be great. I had high expectations when it finally came time to get a new machine. This machine's design is a big disappointment. Cleans well, but it is much, much, more difficult to use. The waste collection container is extremely awkward to carry to/from the sink. Some newbie designer apparently thought the old handle was simply too much cost to keep, and while they were at it, they shortened the power cord by a few feet and decided the user should have to plug in the hose for hand wand cleaning. All were false economies that make this new machine much more difficult to use than the original. It still cleans very well, but by the time you're finished with a room or two, you're either cursing, or concluding the newly hired designers were straight out of grade school and didn't appreciate history. Missed opportunities! The new is not as easy to use as the old.
