Customers are impressed with the cleaning performance and ease of use of this product. Many also appreciate its lightweight design, making it convenient to use. However, some users have noted that the water tank capacity could be improved, and a few experienced issues with suction or found the attachments somewhat difficult to use.

I have rented a rug doctor the past several years to clean my carpets. I thought it worked pretty well. I wanted to be able to use a steam cleaner at my own time and not have to worry about returning it on time, so I decided to get this Hoover. I was pleasantly surprised! It is light weight and did an excellent job cleaning my carpets. They were absolutely disgusting. I guess the rug doctor wasn't doing as well as I thought it had. I wish I would have purchased this cleaner a long time ago. I was a little disappointed though that it didn't come with the bare floor attachment that I read about in the manual. I am having a hard time finding it. :(

Great Carpet Cleaner - Exceeded My Expectations

EZ to following setup and instructions. I believe it does just as good a job as a commercial rental unit. While you fill and empty the tanks more often than a commercial rental unit - it is MUCH easier to do using the Hoover. First of all - to fill it you take the cleaning solution tank OFF the unit easily and carry it to the sink. This beats pouring hot water into rental and spilling water on the rug (always seems to happen with rentals). The dirty water tank comes off easily also and empties without spilling. You can get drips off the lid which you remove to empty - so set it in the sink (I always empty into the toilet since the water is too nasty to put in your sink).
Operating the unit is very easy and the recommended motion to use spelled out in the manual is the way to go. It is light-weight for the job it does and is not all that loud (almost anyone will be able to carry it up the steps to a second floor with its front handle). It does a very nice job of extracting the water from the carpeting.
The only thing I am a bit disappointed with is the fact that the stair tool sprays water in a very wide pattern rather than matching the suction area. This is why I gave features 4 stars. For this reason you should do the steps front to back and not side-to-side. In other words, start from the back of the step and pull toward the riser. When you do this, you will have to watch how quickly the spray pattern arrives at the riser before the vacuum.
All-In-All, I would absolutely recommend this unit to anyone looking for a carpet cleaner to use in their home and have the convenience of doing as much or as little of your house as you so desire.

Works great. I have a small puppy who is being house trained. Not to mention a lot of carpet in the house. So I started to clean the carpet in front of the door because of the heavy foot trafic and ended up having to clean the whole room because the carpet was a totatlly different color. It even got out a stain that previous rentals couldn't get out. It is very easy to move across the floor. The clean water tank is easy to fill. The built in measuring cup is nice and the fill line is easy to see. The dirty water tank is a breeze to empty. The attachment hose is easy to connect. Not to mention my dogs don't seem to mind the noise which is smiliar to that of a vacuum cleaner. Last but least your carpets dry pretty quickly. Takes less time than a rental does. Over all I am very happy with this product.

We just bought this steam vac a few days ago and we used it in our apartment the past 2 days. For starters it is very simple to put together. It takes maybe 5-10 minutes to put it all together. Be sure and read instructions on how to use it and you will be fine. We ran it over our bedroom and dining room twice and we were very pleased with the results. It's not going to magically spring new life to your carpet itself but it will definately clean the dirt out of it. Being in an apartment the carpet is old and matted down in a lot of places and we didn't think it would change that and it didn't but it did clean it very well. We did the living room and hall today and we are extremely happy with this steam vac. The living room had stains and was very dirty and it looks great now. I highly recommend this if you have little kids that our still crawling around on the floor and especially for apartment renters who deal with old dirty carpet. We can't believe the filth that it picked up and to think we let our kids crawl around on that filth day after day..It's very scary and I am glad we finally decided to make this purchase. This is a very good investment for anyone to make

Bought it to clean up after one dog and one cat and worked great. The house smells much better and I could see in the water I was throwing out just how dirty the carpet had been. I don't think it had been cleaned before by the previous renters.
The brushes really get in there. The attachment to get along the edges of the carpet and the wall worked wonderful and it had the same amount of suction as cleaning the floor. The upholstery attachment was just the same. I could see the fabric brighter as the cleanser and brushes got out the dirt.
Was definitely worth the investment.
Some light assembly required but nothing major. All I needed was a screwdriver.
I like that both the clean and dirty water containers both hold quite a bit of water. Lasts enough to go over a room twice.
The bottle of carpet cleaner it came with was ok. Got the dirt out and didn't leave an overpowering scent.
Drying didn't take long at all either. Cleaned in the late evening and by morning it was completely dry.
Easy to switch to use the attachments once you've tried it once. Easy to get the hang of.

I purchased this machine after my old canister type carpet cleaner pump died after many years of service. I am very pleased with the Hoover SteamVac upright. Although it does not hold as much water as the old canister machine, emptying the dirty water and adding clean water and solution is much simpler! Also, this machine has spinning scrub brushes, an advantage over my old machine. And the suction is VERY good! Nice design for the on-board tools (although I have yet to use them). Overall, this is a GREAT value for a very good machine. It takes a lot of time and multiple attacks on spots where our dog has soiled, but with a little patience and persistence, this machine does a VERY GOOD job on these!

I don't normally write reviews but this one deserves my time. I have used my fathers $250 cleaner in the past and it has nothing on this Hoover.
I have a 7 month old who recently started crawling so having clean floors is a must for me. I am a "clean freak" so it takes alot to impress me. After buying this last week and cleaning my carpets I was amazed and have told all my friends about it. I will NEVER pay for professional service again. I believe this cleaner does a much better job. Even more so, yesterday after using my swiffer to clean my kitchen floors, my little one was in her walker in the kitchen and her feet were so dirty after walking on my newly "cleaned" floors. I was like...okay, i'm going to try the carpet cleaner on the hard floors. I didn't use the special attachment, just used it like I do on the carpet and only used hot water on the hard floors. I cleaned them and afterwards my husband asked if I was going to swiffer again to see if it was clean but I just put a papertowel on the bottom of each of my feet and scooted around the kitchen and the papertowels were totally white!!! I told you I was a clean freak. =) I was shocked and even more sold on this product. I had to share my experience and I highly recommend!!!!!

This machine is great! Very easy to assemble, and figure out how to use. With 3 kids and their spills, and a dog that, for over a year has been constantly using the bathroom (#1 & #2) on my carpet everywhere, there were so many stains it was utterly disgusting. Just short of ripping out all the carpet & replacing it, I found this machine on sale, after assembling & cleaning the carpet, in only about an hour and a half, I could not & still can not believe how clean my carpets got w/this machine. It looks like brand new carpet when they are really 7 yrs. old! It got out every stain! The bad stains I did have to go over more than once but otherwise it was one push/pull of the vac. I didn't even double the product solution that they recommend for heavily stained carpets. I saved a couple of thousand dollars thanks to this machine. The best part is I can continuously use this machine when I want at no charge, as opposed to renting one.

I read all the reviews and decided I would try this one. I made the right choice. This is a super unit. Assembly was easy, but pictures instead of drawings would be much better.
It really sucks up a lot of water and the carpet dried very quickly.
I used the Hoover liquid and the rugs looked as good as the professional.
We had our rugs cleaned a few months ago and vacuum a couple times a week. Was surprised when I started to clean up the machine,
there was a 1/4 inch of mud on the undercarriage.
There are a few things changes that could easily be made that would make it even better.
Have the power cord mount about half way up the handle. Get it off
the floor.
Make the waste tank bigger. It fills up with the solution tank still 1/3 full.
Use a warning light to let you know when you run out of solution.
I figured that if I cleaned my rugs six times in the next two years, I will be at least a thousand dollars to the good.

This isn't industrial grade but for what it is it is great. It was simple to put together. The tank doesn't hold a ton of water and when you haven't used a cleaner in a while you will change the tank often. Still it does do a good job at cleaning and getting the water out so the carpet dries fast. I just wish it came with hard floor attachment. One thing I would suggest to help keep it clean. After you are done cleaning your carpet for the day put some hot water on a hard surface to suck up through the system. This does a great job at cleaning the fuzz and gunk out.

We were tired of renting Rug Doctor units, and wanted a carpet shampooer that we could use a few minutes at a time. This top rated unit lives up to its ratings. It's easy to move around, not all that noisy. It cleans well on our light colored carpet. The clean surge feature is a definite plus for the heavily soiled areas. We are finding that going over the carpet again using just clean water helps it feel soft and have a natural appearance. The carpet is still damp after cleaning, but no more so than Rug Doctor or commercial cleaners. And the extended warranty is only $19. We're glad we bought this model.

I have used this steam vac twice since receiving it on Christmas eve. I love it. It is so easy to use. I don't have pets or kids but am a smoker and wanted something to brighten up the carpets. This steam vac is just the right one. I started out with just hot water to pick up some initial dirt and then went over it a second time about a month later with the shampoo. It is incredible how much brighter the carpet looks and how disgusting the water is! There are some spots on the carpet that it did not pick up, but I am still 100% satisfied with the product. It is extremely easy to empty the tank and operate the vac. I recommend this to anyone!

I have always hired professional carpet cleaners to clean my carpets however I relocated out of state and no longer have my inexpensive carpet guy anymore. The local companies in my new locale are big name companies that charge hundreds of dollars for a room or two. I decided to invest in this machine and wasn't expecting the wonderful results. Years ago I borrowed a family member's carpet cleaner and it was complete mess and hassle. It also left the carpets saturated. This machine exceeded my expectations.
I have two types of carpets in my home. A shaggy berber and a plush. The shaggy berber was new when we moved in 3 yrs ago. It became matted down and we had several dog accidents. I didnt have much hope for it as the spot bot we own doesn't seem to work well on the berber. The light gray plush carpet in our basement has serious signs of traffic dirt on the steps. I figured if the cleaner at least lightened the dirt somewhat I would be happy. I was amazed that all the carpets in the house look new again! Tough stains that I thought were permanent are now gone. I love this machine!
If I had to make a complaint its that the instructions on assembling the attachment for stairs was a bit awkward and the instructions didnt seem clear. Once I figured it out, it was easy but I was frustrated for a bit trying to figure it out. Also when done using the machine, water get trapped in it and will leak for a bit. I put the machine on a thick towel and let it drain out. I am glad I was not in a hurry to put the machine away as I would have had a puddle in the closet. This may be common with carpet machines but this is my first so I wanted to point this out.
I think the biggest thing for me besides the machine working so well is that the carpets are not saturated. This machine does an excellent job of picking up the water out of the carpet. The plush carpet was dry within 20 minutes. The berber was dry 30-45 minutes later. Really a great investment.

I haven't had the carpets in my apartment cleaned since I'd moved in...5 years ago, and lets assume that I've spilled everything from Anchovy Dip to Zucchini Hummus on them. This thing cleaned em!!!!! I couldn't believe it, figured for clean carpets I'd just move. I passed on the Hoover brand Cleaning Solution and used LA's Awesome the first run with Pine Sol to finish the job, looks great, smells great, was 3 bucks \o/. Assembly was a breeze, only needed instruction to figure out where the 3rd nut went. Its extra. Bad thing is it 99.8% Plastic (0.2% being the screws and i'm guessin there ain't a whole lotta metal in those) so you need to avoid crashing into furniture while gently installing tanks. I saw a lot of complaints about suction, I can see why. You have to make sure your tank seal is free of debris and properly seated, if not it doesn't work. All-In-All this machine is great.

Really Good Steam Vac

I had bought a Bissel 4 years earlier and had been pretty happy with it but over the last year it was not cleaning as good. So when the Bissel stopped dispensing the solution properly I looked at the reviews for the Hoover. This Steam Vac works just as the other reviews said and is much easier to use then the Bissel for about half the price. I like the two tank system and it is easy to remove both tanks during the cleaning process. The only thing that I would say is an issue is the solution tank goes really quick when steam cleaning your carpet the way the instructions recommends. I had to remove and refill the solution tank about 6 times for a smaller sized living room. Also for bigger stains I had to go over them many more times with this Steam Vac then my previous one. But the ease of use and good job it does cleaning my carpets makes it a easy recommendation to anyone who wants good value for a good cleaner.

I read many reviews on this product before purchasing it and I must agree with most of the customers that wrote reviews. This product worked great! I have used it for about 2.5 hrs and love it so far. I have a puppy which is very playful and leaves droppings on ocassion but this product worked wonders. It will remove old spots and clean your carpet deep. I also cleaned my moms house with it (the entire house) and never had a issue or problem. My mom was amazed with all of the dirt it pulled from her carpet (muddy dirty water...ugh). She is now talking about buying her own. The only thing I noticed that I didn't like was that if you don't secure the dirty water tank it will continue to put water down but it won't pick it up. If you notice that happening just go back and snap everything down securely and it will work again perfectly. If you're looking for a good steam vac you cannot go wrong with this item.

We have 3 large dogs, cats, and a energetic grandson who manage to bring the outside yard in. We were going to rent a carpet cleaner to shampoo the 3 area rugs located under the dining room table, under the couches, and at the front door, but you never know "what" the machine you rented cleaned before you got it. With that in mind we decided to purchase one and even if we only used it, say 4 times a year, it would pay for itself. After reading the reviews posted we decided on this model. It was easy to both assemble and operate. It cleaned the rugs well and they were all were dry within an hour! We have wood floors and followed the directions using a blue tarp (kept in case of hurricanes) under the rugs. The only drawback is the frequent filling and emptying of the containers. The supplied shampoo only lasted only for the 3 area rugs.

I had done a lot of research on this product and found the best reviews on this steam cleaner when considering overall value, preformance, etc.
I was skeptical that it could really do that good a job but since I needed an entire 2nd floor and several pieces of furniture cleaned, I decided to buy the steam vac versus hiring a professional because I would have paid more for just 1 visit by a pro and now I can use this anytime.
I couldn't believe how easy is was to put together and to operate. The dirt it pulled from the carpets and furniture was amazing, actually disgusting!!
With two kids, a dog, a cat and a husband, I never realized how truly dirty carpets and furniture get. There weren't even many visible stains on my carpet...a lot of invisible dirt & soil that we couldn't even see!!
I would highly recommend the Hoover SteamVac to anyone looking for a carpet/upholstery cleaner.

After using these reviews for my decision on a carpet cleaner (Mainly which one --I was stuck btw a Bissel 9500 or this Hoover)-I felt it only right to write one on my experience...
I ended up with this Hoover because of the reviews and the price. I didn't think it was worth another $100+ for "heated water". I used my hottest tap water and it worked great!!
This is an awesome cleaner! It picked up dirt I didn't think was there and it did a better job for me than Stanley Steamer or the Rug Doctor ever did. The water/solution that went on the carpets was pretty much all extracted out. Carpets were a little damp after but dryed fast and dryed beautifully clean and bright.
The only con I can think of is that the tanks maybe could have been a little bigger to hold more water but then if they were bigger they would be heavier and it might be more difficult for people to lift.....

Well, I hate to admit it, but due to illness in the family and a crazy work schedule it has been 5 years since my carpets were cleaned! Vac'd twice a week but cleaned...no time! I have a busy household with kids and grandkids who are in and out all the time.....I don't make them take their shoes off...may change my mind now! Have had 2 older dogs and 1 cat with "problems" as they got older...and there were some stains I could not get out. Overall, carpet looked ok (Berber) but I KNEW how dirty it was!
After researching carpet cleaners and reading the high reviews on the Hoover I decided to purcahse on.....And I JUST LOVE IT!!!! Have only had time to one room and a high traffic hallway......but it does just what it says! Carpet looks like new...smells good...and is practically dry when I am done.
