This carpet cleaner is great. It is relatively lightweight, not too noisy and cleans very well. I bought the Hoover over a Bissel product because other reveiwers felt it was better at extracting water from the cleaned carpet. Boy were they right. Just three passes over the wet carpet left it virtually dry. I use distilled water, heated in the microwave, because our city water is very hard and leaves particulate crud anywhere it is allowed to evaporate. I don't bother with the clelaning solution, just spot clean with Oxy-clean. My five year old, cream colored carpet looks great. This cleaner is easy to assemble and use. Tip: use cold water and enzymatic cleaner on pet stains.

This cleaner is great. My wife says it's the best household carpet cleaner she has ever used that is non-commercial. Her only 2 minor complaints are that its relatively heavy if carrying up/down stairs when full, and hand tool setup is a bit tedious. As a straight-up carpet cleaner, she is 100% satisfied. She even finds that it does an excellent job on the kitchen floor and other hard surface floors in the house without any additional attachments. Everything we read about the hard floor attachment says don't waist the money and just use the machine as-is on hard floors. - she agrees. Just use the right liquid cleaner for the right floor type and away you go! The built in brushes scrub the floor and the dirty water is sucked away. A couple of additional comments: we don't believe this unit actually heats the water as you put hot water in the tank. We believe calling this unit a "steam cleaner" is a bit of a liberal use of the word "steam". Lastly the "heated drying" feature is essentially the motor's exhaust directed at the carpet to aid in drying. We believe it definitely does work, but is the result of smart engineering that directs motor airflow towards the carpet, vs. any special feature designed specifically to dry the carpet. Bottom line is the cleaner works great and was worth the $99 we paid from Best Buy.

I have used this a couple times and really like it. I have not used it for cleaning upholstery, however. Works great, easy to use, easy to move around, carpeting dries quickly after use. I have a pet and want to keep my carpeting clean and fresh. It easily pays for itself and is not that loud to use.

I have spent $60 renting a steam cleaner, and $370 on a professional cleaning service to steam clean our carpet in 4 areas. The Hoover Steamvac was recommended by a friend, so we bought it. I absolutely love it!!! It did as good a job as the professional service, but the dry time was 10 times as fast. I have cleaned our dinning room, living room, family room, couch, and stairs. It was very easy to put together, use, and everything clips into place on the steamvac. We have 3 kids, a cat, and I babysit 3 other children. Needless to say every drip mark from leaky cups and the high traffic my carpet has endured has come clean with this great product. I will be watching an infant in 3 weeks, and will now feel okay about letting her be on the floor. I have read the other reviews, and everything everyone says is true.

This steam cleaner is awesome!!!! I have several stains that I have tried & tried to get out & nothing seem to work. In ONE try, stains are GONE!!!!! My house is fresh & clean now. Very easy to use & does a great job!!! My only complaint is the sprayer on the upholstery cleaning tool should be closer to the suction nozel(sp?) area....it's too far back.

The machine really does a great job. I ignored my carpets for far too many years and this thing really sucked up a ton of dirt. We have hardwood floors through the living areas of our home and there is carpet only in the bedrooms. I didn't think that they were really that dirty. Boy was I wrong!! I was amazed at the amount of dirt that was in my carpets. The five brush system really seems to do the trick. I would recommend this to anyone. For the money, you really can't go wrong. The only drawback is the size of the tanks. I don't see how they could change this so it's just something you have to live with.

Did lots of research before deciding to go with this one. This Hoover replaced a 10 year old Bissel and obviously there was quite a difference in the suction power and features. With my new Hoover, carpets are almost dry in 2 hours, whereas before it would be 8-10 hours. That's important for so many reasons, but for me it was great because the carpets were dry before the rug rats came home from school. I cleaned an entire house full of carpet right before Thanksgiving (and gave the dining room chairs a once-over) and was very impressed with the results, especially on the stairs. I used Hoover carpet shampoo and the Hoover spot remover (spray bottle) and ended up getting rid of some tough (and I thought permanent) stains. The way the attachments are set up seems a little strange on this machine, and you really have to make sure everything's on 'right and tight' to get adequate suction when doing stairs and/or furniture. But once you read (and maybe reread?) the directions and fully understand how it works, you're fine. This machine seems to be a workhorse, and I plan on it lasting at least ten years and I clean the entire house at least twice a year, some rooms even more. I'm satisfied with the purchase.

Did research before I purchased this product. Read the reviews before considering to purchase this product. Bought it cause it was on sale and it works really well. It cleaned the carpets as it stated and from the reviews. Had to buy more carpet cleaning solution because the bottle was only good for about one room, depending the size of the room. I used the carpet cleaner on the living room and dining room. So far the product has worked perfectly. No problems whatsoever. The only downside to this product is that you have to empty out the bottom of the tank because it gets filled up fast.

I bought this carpet cleaner today and I am very impressed. My husband told me I would be wasting our money, but I went ahead and bought it anyway. It did a WONDERFUL job with some really touch stains. My husband even told me I was right and it did a very good job. I did do some of the recommendations by other owners and heated water in a tea kettle to make sure the water was very hot. I am not sure it made any difference, but my carpet looks new again. I didn't mind the smaller clean water and waste water containers. As a woman, it would be harder for me to handle anything much bigger by myself. In the past when I rented machines, my husband would have to help me or even do it himself because I could not manage the heavy machine. Not this time, I did it all myself and feel sure now that I can clean my carpet anytime I need to. Yeah!

This is the one. We did a lot of comparison shopping (which I tell you is not as exciting as it sounds) and frankly, we used a lot of Best Buy reviews to help form an opinion. We selected and bought this Hoover model and were really pleased when we used it on our carpets. It's was very easy to assemble and though it takes some work to get out tougher stains, they do come out. As one other reviewer noted, you can use the strokes as wet, extra surge wet or dry and this helps to get the carpet to dry very quickly. I would highly recommend this model for your carpet and upholstery steam cleaning needs.

One of the best carpet cleaners we have ever used. It does better than the rentals. This is the 3rd carpet cleaner we have had. We bought the 4 year extended warranty, which I strongly suggest. It does a great job but the plastic parts tend to wear out, especially in the hand held attachments. We have 3 dogs and are cleaning carpets constantly. Great for pet stains. For hard floors, you need to purchase an additional squeegee part, which does not come with it. After 2-3 years, the unit starts to break down but we have had it replaced each time under warranty. You will be greatly pleased in the job it does but don't expect it to last more than 2-3 years.

I previously owned a Bissell, you know, the one with the super scrubbing and heat. Well, big deal, after a few uses the scrubber belt broke, I fixed it, then after a few more, the clean water tank release wouldn't stop releasing water! So that was it, decided to replace but with such a short life it had, not a Bissell again. Tried the Hoover since it had great reviews and I am very pleased with it so far. For one thing, it sucks up way better than the Bissell and another the drying time is outstanding!!! I couldn't believe how fast the carpet dried after using this machine, didn't time it but it had to be less than 2 hours; the Bissell would take a full day minimum. Also, the tank on the Bissell had to be filled too often compared to this Hoover tank. This is the first Hoover I've had and so far I love it! Hope it lasts awhile.

Just tried this out on some very dirty carpets and it works great! It was super easy to put together and use. Even the attachments were easy to get going. The first thing I noticed was how well my carpets smelled and then how clean they look. The water in the bucket was pretty black and gross, so I guess they were in need of a cleaning. We have 1 dog, who tracks in a lot of dirt. This was way better than renting the rug doctor as well. Worked better and was easier to use.

After quick & easy assembly I put this SteamVac to immediate use. The instructions were easy to understand and clearly explained the proper use of the machine. I have two large dogs that can make a mess of the carpet and this machine worked fantastic. I no longer need to use an outside professional to come in to clean my rugs. I felt that the two tank system (clean & dirty) was very easy to use. I cleaned my entire home (4 large rooms, hallway & stairs) in less than 8 hours. The stairs are more difficult to do, you may want someone to help you by holding the unit while you do the cleaning with the hose system.

I purchased while on sale and use it every few days since we have a new puppy being house trained. It picks up the accident and I can even use dog cleaning products which contain enzymes to remove any odors. I ruined my Bissel using the dog cleaning product so I put the product directly on carpet after sucking up the accident and so far have no problems doing it this way. Then after using that product, I clean the carpet using the hoover solution. I actually like this cleaner better than my much more expensive Bissel as this weighs less so I tend to use it more often. It really seems to suck up the dirt. I wish the scrubbers were a little harder but then that might damage some types of carpet.

I brought this thing home the other day and finally got around to cleaning the carpets today. My wife and I had two carpet companies come out and give an estimate for new carpet. After looking at the proposals, I came up with a proposal of my own...STEAM CLEANER! Instead of spending over $4k to get new carpet, we took full advantage of the after Thanksgiving specials. I have used steam cleaners in the past (and more "expensive" ones, too). They don't compare to the features and power of this little blue Patriot! The power surge feature was a nice bonus for those stubborn stains in the carpet and for treating high-traffic areas. I think this steam cleaning thing may become a regular ritual in our household. With a baby on the way, clean carpet is something that cannot be sacrificed. Do yourself a favor, stop reading these reviews and pick one of these carpet savers up today. You won't regret it! The only downside to this thing is you can see how much dirt you've been missing with your vacuum cleaner! ...oh, and you have to keep emptying the compartment (HA!). That means it is really getting all of the water out. While typing this review, the carpet became mostly dry (1 hour later)!!

I live in an apartment with three dogs,one is newly adopted and not completely housebroken. In addition, lots of mud has been brought into this house from the rain and snow. Unfortunately this apartment has white carpet and shows every little stain. The Hoover Steamvac truly has changed my life. I use it frequently and my carpet looks near to new. It has gotten the dog odor out of the carpet. I love it so much I purchased one for my mother for Christmas. Well worth the price. Easy to use. Does an excellent job cleaning. Thanks, Hoover!

This was my first carpet cleaner. I considered a Bissell but decided on the Hoover because of it's price and the reviews I read. I would highly recommend it. It is easy to assemble and use. I would suggest more dry strokes than in the directions to reduce the drying time. I had not had my carpet cleaned in over five years. With two cats the carpet was in need of cleaning. It did a very nice job. The solution and dirty water tanks are a little small which means dumping the dirty water tank and refilling the solution tank often. It is easy to clean.

I have 2 long hair dogs, and all other cleaners eat up belts and the brushes get so tangled up with dog hair. This product has rotary brushes that I can detach easily and don't get tangled with hair, plus there's no belt to burn out! It's so easy to use, and takes out old spots easily. I was amazed at how effortless it was, and what a good job it did. I actually enjoyed cleaning!! It's easy to clean after use, and didn't leak a drop. I'm thrilled with it.

I am very pleased with my purchase of this product. I read many great reviews before deciding to purchase it, and it pretty much performs to the expectations I had. This is the first steam cleaner that I have ever owned and used, and I was able to put it together myself, and figure everything out in the instruction manual. As long as you read carefully, and all the way through, the machine is very easy to put together and operate. It cleans the carpet very well...only thing I wished is that it cleaned set in stains better. Overall value and price, this is a great deal! *BE CAUTIOUS with the dirty water tank though! When you remove to empty it, make sure that it is locked back in properly, I dang near flooded the bedroom because I didn't realize it wasn't in right, and therefore wasn't sucking up the water!
