Almost great.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Two things that I have always wanted on my Switch since launch are a proper d-pad and better ergonomics. I tried a few different grip cases and those d-pad caps that stick onto the individual arrow buttons but those grip cases never were dockable (even when claimed to do so) and the stick on d-pad cap always felt pretty cheap. Then there's the giant sea of third party joy cons online - many with mixed reviews. I came upon this one as it has been the most promising. I've had it for less than 24 hours but the dpad is excellent and the ergonomics are greatly improved. All the buttons have a satisfactory tactile push and click to them. The analog sticks are wonderful and leaps and bounds ahead of the standard joy con sticks. I played a few hours of Dead Cells and Shovel Knight and having the d-pad feels like a game changer. I also tried the analog sticks out on the retro FPS game DUSK and it was a lot of fun and felt a great sense of precision and control. The biggest thing keeping this from being a 5-star review is no rumble. That haptic feedback can be not only satisfying in games, but feels crucial in certain first party games where rumble is used to indicate a hint (i.e. Super Mario Odyssey or Breath of the Wild). It's also fairly wide so you'll need to buy a case specific for these if you plan to travel with and want to protect them. I tried removing each side and putting them into the upper zippered compartment of my large Fintie Switch case with the screen seperate on the bottom but they are too large. Since these are not wireless or battery powered, I suspect this is why they had to add the Assign & Turbo buttons on both sides which I never plan to use and take away from what could have been a sleeker device. In summary, if you're someone like me who has been wanting a proper d-pad or improved ergonomics, this should be at the top of your list. The analog sticks are large and very fun to handle. Just know there are some sacrifices. For some that will be gyro aiming or portability, for me it's not having rumble. With those omitted features, I feel this product would be more fairly priced at $40, not $50 as $50 starts to encroach into joy con pricing territory.

Comfortable handheld controllers.
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great, comfortable grips. They feel infinitely better than the normal switch controllers. I don't like that they do not work if they aren't plugged in nor do they have rumble, but as a controller for plane rides and handheld mode they're great. I wish they came in more color ways. They don't feel quite as premium as the switch joycons, but feel solid and rugged; I toss them in my bag and dont need to worry about them breaking.

Small upgrad and a good split pad for switch.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The built quality is good and light. Button is feels very nice, color is appealing too. You can expect a small upgrade from the previous Hori Split pad pro, but in a smaller size.

More comfortable JoyCons with some disadvantages
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are an excellent alternative to regular JoyCons. They feel much better in the hand and are more comfortable. It’s not a 5 star review because I ended up missing motion controls and NFC amiibo support when playing Tears of the Kingdom in handheld mode. Game works perfect without these two things, but I just wish it had the feature set.

Great Casual gamer Controller
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ability to change buttons works great. Configuration is comfortable. I found the buttons to not always work when punched the first time. Otherwise great controller for casual gamer whose hands can cramp with other controller options.

The controllers i was looking for
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Perfect size Hori pad Controllers . The originals were far to chunky, these compact editions are much better.

Nice with 1 flaw
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love these as a nice addon for the Switch. Much more comfortable than the standard joycons. Feels like a good quality and the buttons are solid which is a nice upgrade from the Split Pad Pro that feels mushy. My only gripe is how in the world does Hori still not have rumble? I wanted to buy the HORI Steam controller as well but decided not to because no rumble. Come on HOR, give us rumble please!

Best options for playing switch games!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are second and latest versions. Thumbsticks are great but notice slight delay in movement with multiple games. First version did not have this problem. Overall comfort is good, love how it changes the look when docked. Overall great controller, buttons have good bounce to them, dpad is good as well. No issues with the dpad or buttons. Great buy, definitely know that these are not wireless controls and only worked as attached. So far these are my preferred controllers when playing the switch. Worth it when they go on sale.

Must-have for handheld Switch gamers
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the Hori Split Pad Compact's smaller form factor compared to the Pro (as well as how it's flush with the Switch's screen). If you love the Nintendo Switch Lite's mushy face buttons, you'll love the ones on the Compact. The analog sticks are larger than on joy-cons but not quite as large as on PS/Xbox controllers. The rear back buttons work but are limited to mapping to a button on the same side (left or right). Unfortunately, there's no rumble/gyro/amiibo support either so if those features are dealbreakers for you, then you should look elsewhere. Overall, the Hori Split Pad Compact is a must-have for handheld Switch gamers.

Solid alternative
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are a bit bigger than the standard joycons. The extra real estate makes it more comfortable to olay in handheld mode. Wxtar back buttons on each are another plus downside being there is no rumble or gyro

Hori
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is one of the best add on for the Nintendo Switch accessories I’ve bought I had ordered others on amazon but not the hori and the one on amazon stopped working after a few weeks or I get really bad stick drift. This one I bought from Best Buy, I had this for a year now I don’t have that problem from the amazon brand or third party brand

Feels good in your hands.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great for handheld mode. I love the original joy cons, but they are uncomfortable for long play in handheld mode. I debated getting these as I never got "not" Nintendo joy cons. But I am so glad I bought them. These are great for just sitting on the sofa or a trip. No rumble, but you don't always need that for games. The trade-off is worth the comfort.

Unfortunate
|Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Controllers were extremely comfortable, build quality felt amazing. Buttons were super satisfying to press, joysticks were smooth and had lots of range. No rumbl isnt a huge deal but No Gyro controls is rough especially on games that use it like Zelda BotW or TotK. I also guess I just got unlucky and got stick drift on the first day so I returned them. I never re bought it also because it didnt fit in my portable case. Wish they here built a little tougher.

Way easier to hold
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Much more comfortable to game now in handheld. Still fits on the dock with this on too. Dont have to be switching back n forth. Yes, some features are missing like hd rumble and gyro but i think its a good compromise

Have to wait longer than it takes to get delivered
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to wait about 7 day to get it delivered. It worth the wait. Somehow it ended up place in a wrong palette in shipping department fly all the way to California to North Carolina. But hey the controller made it without a problem no sign of tamper or damaged. The controller is Great but there some downsides it doesn’t have Vibration, Wireless and NFC. But it worth buying it if you looking for a controller similar to pro controller.

Can’t program across controllers
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. They feel great in your hand for when you want to play handheld mode. They feel pretty well constructed and are great if you want something more comfortable than the joy-cons. The reason I’m giving a star off, You CAN NOT map buttons from one controller to the other. They don’t have a battery in them, so not realizing, I bought them with intent to add both the “X and B” buttons to the programmable buttons on the left and right. You can’t do that. So that’s why I’m taking a star off.
