I have petite hands and I even find the Switch's joycons to be too small and uncomfortable. My first impression of the Hori Split Pad Pro is that it's bigger than I thought. The joystick is big and high and probably meant for bigger hands. I don't mind that it makes the Switch longer but I find that my hands would need to travel quite a bit just to reach all of the buttons. The Split Pad Pro is light and I like the feel of the buttons. It was very easy to set up and it feels secure when it is connected to my Switch. The biggest disappointment for me was that the Switch won't let me remap the buttons in the settings. The Hori Split Pad Pro is more comfortable than the Switch's joycons but does not have the same versatility. You lose all of the features of the Switch's joycons. The Split Pad Pro does not have rumble or it's own battery source so I think the price is quite expensive for what you get. With that being said, I prefer using the Hori Split Pad Pro on handheld mode over using the Switch's joycons and I'm very happy with my purchase.

If you like playing the Switch handheld but don't think the joycons are comfortable, get these. Can guarantee you will not regret it. The most comfortable, ergonomic controllers I have held. And they have a couple of programmable functions as icing on the cake. THEY NEED TO MAKE THESE ON THE SWITCH 2 ASAP, I AM WAITING.

This is my second split pad pro because I started to get drift on my first pair. NOW WAIT!!! That’s not a knock against these things at all. I play my Switch A LOT!! Eventually things wear out, so I blame me more than the split pad. I play 100% handheld so these were my only go-to controller. The fact that I am buying them again is the plus. These are comfortable for me. I have medium sized man hands and my thumbs rest perfectly on the thumb sticks. The buttons are nice and large. I just felt these were great.
Okay, if I’m being honest there were a couple negatives but they didn’t bother me much. The is NO rumble, NO gyro controls and you can NOT use these detached from the screen. There also is NO amibo support. None of those I care about so no big deal to me. There is one thing that did annoy me; the A, B, X, Y lettering on the buttons wore off. If I didn’t have them memorized, I wouldn’t know what button is which. So some of that is my fault because I play so much but really, the shouldn’t not wear off at all.
So overall, I love these things. For longer play sessions, these won’t cramp your hands like the joycon will. I gave it a 3 star on value because there are some othe controllers online like the binbok controllers that are the same size, same price and work just as well, but they have rumble, gyro, etc…

I think this is a good gaming Joy-con alternative because it’s very good for competitive games like fortnite, apex gaming, Mario cart and it’s good for soft games like Mario games and Pokémon games. In my opinion I didn't really like the feeling of the joysticks but I still liked the controllers themself and it’s affordable.

My hands aren't particularly large, but the standard JoyCons are so uncomfortable, im surprised anyone except for children can use them to play a game for longer than a few minutes. I was unable to use the Switch in handheld mode because my hands would cramp trying to use rhe JoyCons. Once I saw this SplitPad was available and read others' reviews, I knew I had to have it. It certainly doesn't disappoint. It's almost as comfortable as the Switch Pro Controller, and the addition of the extra triggers at the back, which can be reassigned, is actually useful and I now find myself wishing the Pro Controller had the same feature. The only negatives are: 1) each of the extra rear trigger buttons can only he assigned to a button its resoective side. For example, you can't assign the left rear trigger as A,B, X, Y, R, Zr, or R3 (or whatever the button is called by Nintendo - the right stick button). 2) No rumble 3) They can't be used without being attached to the Switch (although Hori does sell an accessory that allows you to use them as a wired controller , though its around $25), and 4) No motion control - (though I'm not exactly a big fan of motion control anyway)
