Customers are overwhelmingly positive about Horizon Zero Dawn's graphics, story, open world, and combat, with many praising the game's fresh gameplay and responsive controls. However, some customers expressed negativity regarding the voice acting and side quests, finding them to be mediocre or repetitive. Between a great female lead who is not over sexualized or weak of heart, and the great storyline, I am very happy with this game. Many side quests that don't just feel like busy work and the main quest that is very in depth with both content and character development.
Graphics are at an A+ (I play on PS4 Pro in 4K) with no real noticable drop in frame rate. A few shrubs pop up in the distance when using the long range bow and zoomed in.
Controls are snappy quick and well thought out as far as placement.
Open world exploration is always a plus.

Horizon: Zero Dawn is one of the best games on ps4. It has breathtaking graphics, a very good story, phenomenal combat, & tons of things to do in this beautiful world. It's a very hard game to put down once you load the game up. The challenge of the game is very approachable; Beginners to advanced gamers can enjoy the game. Minor flaws is side quest voice acting is subpar in few instances. In conclusion, this game is well worth the full price as I have played over 80 hours & I'm having so much during my playthrough. Key word in this game is fun.

Horizon Zero Dawn offers a compelling story that should appeal to many. The game length can be around 40+ hours; which offers many side quests, engaging main story, great dialog, and stealthy / action packed combat. The graphics are pretty impressive; the game could challenge the graphics of uncharted 4. The game play is similar to the Tomb Raider reboot series, but with added RPG elements. You can modify and craft weapons, armor, and craft items and ammo. Horizon Zero Dawn is an unique experience, and is worth playing for every PS4 owner.

There are very few games out there that as soon as you start playing , you realize its an instant classic. Games like the Last of Us, the first Gears of War, Red Dead Redemption... games that are not only stunning graphically but also offer so much more in gameplay and story. This is one of those games, HZD is epic, One of if not the best looking console games I've ever played. More than once I catch myself pausing the game to go into the PS4s Photo mode to take a screenshot of the action. And that's it the action, not only does it look good but it plays better.. Tons of things to do in this massive open world game, figuring out different ways to neutralize all the different kinds of Machines is a lot of fun. I have invested 40 hours into the game and not even close to finishing. So pick it up and enjoy!

I just want to say that this game blew me away. The story really makes sense and keeps you interested. The gameplay is a combination of tomb raider, uncharted, and the witcher. The open world is beautiful and easy to explore by either foot or dinosaur. There are lots of different weapons and armors. Im in my second play through and still just enjoy looking at the worlds its so beautiful. Honestly one of my top 5 ever favorite games for ps4. if you haven't picked it up do yourself a favor and get it, you will not be disappointed.

I must confess that I suffer from horrible Open World Paralysis Syndrome. The overwhelming amount of places to go and things to see always eventually leads me to stop playing open world games for games that are more naratively focused, but Horizon Zero Dawn is an excellent example of the genre and certainly worth your time. The setting is excellent and well developed. The story, at least when it focuses on the Old World, is good, and the main character is sympathetic and likable without being super-human. The ranged combat is satisfying with the ability to use traps and a variety of ranged weapons, but the close combat is little more than an afterthought. The game looks great, and is a shining example of what the PS4 hardware can do in the hands of the right developer.

This is a great open world game with many elements of The Witcher while remaining mostly original.
This is one of the most beautiful games ever created. The gameplay is fun and the story is interesting but not amazing. My main complaint is the human AI leaves much to be desired and the camera can be too close for most people's comfort. None of this detracts from the overall great experience this game provides.
This is one of those games that reinforces how dominant Playstation exclusives are over its competitors.

I really loved the primitive future storyline. I think it's a refreshing take. The graphics are phenomenal and the controls are tight. The game does a good job of holding your hand when needed, but not being too much. It's a great time (I haven't finished it yet) and I like the simple RPG elements. It's not too overbearing for people like me who don't have a ton of time to invest in games but like to pick up and play when you can.

This game is a solid experience for PlayStation users. It's a visually stunning open world game with very few bugs. The story keeps you intrigued and wanting to stick around to finish the game. Each character feels unique and the voice acting is great. The controls are fluid and intuitive, and the game is challenging in all the right ways. Truly a masterpiece by Gorilla Games.

While I don't agree with every decision Guerrilla made regarding the mechanics of this game, it's absolutely gorgeous and fun to play. The exploration is rewarding, the combat is challenging, and the story is engaging. Only the climbing (limited climb points) and quest (certain quests do not get tracked unless active and you can only have one active quest at a time) systems could use some tweaking, but even then they don't detract terribly from the gameplay.

If you have a UHD 4k TV and a PS4 Pro, you owe to yourself to see Horizon Zero Dawn on it. The graphics in this game are breathtaking on it (and still are even on a regular PS4). Equally nice is that the game performs well at a steady 30 fps.
Gameplay wise, Horizon is an enjoyable open world game that can take about 50 hours to complete if you do all the side quests and collect all the collectibles. The various machines you fight require different strategies, which make combat enjoyable along with the different weapons you have at your disposal other than your bow and regular arrows. Killing a machine by using its own weapon against it is very gratifying.
There's a good amount of stealth in the game, but it's never forced upon you. Horizon thankfully isn't the type of game where if you fail to be stealthy the game automatically ends. Human A.I. does show its stupidity a little bit when you use dead bodies or an animal call to lure them over to tall grass for easy stealth kills.
Horizon's story and characters are interesting enough without getting into spoilers about the world with why it is inhabited by animal-like machines and why technology has retrogressed so much. Throughout the game, your playable character Aloy has dialogue wheels similar to Mass Effect. Dialogue choices generally don't change the game too much, but it's a nice touch. Completing side quests can however affect the main story quests as sometimes there will be dialogue references to them if you complete them. Moreover, characters you help on side quests might help you later on, which is something to keep in mind.

Horizon provides many levels of difficulty to play so even casual gamers can explore and enjoy this game. There is a large world open for exploration. Curiosity is rewarded by finding places with history (e.g., a representation of the Air Force Academy). Looking for data elements fills in what has happened in the past and how the world came to be as it is in the story. If you are a person that needs constant change in interaction and challenges then you may find that the side quests are somewhat repetitive. If you're patient and want to find out the story, then you'll likely enjoy the game. It is a beautiful game that features a female protagonist that isn't whiney and needy. You meed NPCs of various ethnic backgrounds. A nice change in large games. I'm enjoying this game and will continue to play and discover what's ahead.

Note: Game played on a 500 GB Playstation 4 on a 1080p display. 4K display owners with a PS4 Pro system have options for better visuals and performance, including HDR.
Visual and Audio: Some of the best lighting, if not the best, I've seen in a console title. World is well detailed, with some low textures appearing once in a while. Pop-in is infrequent at worst, as the world seems to load rather well. Character models and animation are great, though a number of the minor NPC animations are a bit stiff and conversations seem to always take place just standing and gesturing in place rather than interacting with the environment nearby. Music is good and the chirps and operating machinery of the dinosaurs is on point.
Performance: Runs rather smooth at around 30fps, and seems to hold even with a lot of action and models on screen at once.
Gameplay: World is easy to navigate despite its size, and seems to have been designed to pull you to interesting places. Combat is fun and can be challenging against the variety of machines. There's a lot of options available in how to tackle situations. Two minor issues with combat are that the human enemy A.I. is terrible compared to the machines and that the rolling dodge mechanic (like in The Witcher 2 and 3) can be a bit boring and doesn't cooperate with the camera as well as I would have liked. Story and quests are solid, with main character Alloy being quite likable.
Verdict: Buy. If you're considering getting a PS4, this is worth the plunge (with other games of course).

Horizon is one of those games I can't see many people not enjoying. If you like video games, I doubt you won't find something in Horizon to enjoy.
Aloy, Horizon's leading lady is an excellent character. She's likable, and very believable.. her journey kept me engaged from beginning to end. The world, and the reason for the world being in it's current state is a very entertaining story, surprisingly so... in fact I would love to see Horizon's story adapted to film one day.
But enough about the story and character, lets get to why we play video games, and that's the gameplay... and i'm happy to report it's just as good as Horizon's story.
The combat has plenty of options, you can play the game mostly stealth, or decide to just tackle Horizon's creatures and enemies head on... or do a little both... you can just focus on shooting, or mix a little melee in there with your bow.. Everything here is very satisfying to use, and traps you can set for enemies is very intuitive to use. The XP Aloy gains is dished out at a nice pace, you seem to be always leveling, which constantly gives you a feeling of progress throughout Aloy's adventure.
I have almost nothing bad to say about Horizon... my only negative is the human A.I. can be very dumb at times, especially if you use stealth. However that doesn't hurt Horizon, it's an issue, but in the grand scheme of things a small negative in an otherwise excellent game.
Horizon is one of the PS4's very best games, buy it ASAP, you won't be sorry.

I picked this up because I had seen a few YouTube reviewers endorse it, as well as CD Projekt Red (the team behind The Witcher 3) having some fun with this game over Twitter with Aloy and Geralt pics. I immensely enjoyed The Witcher 3, so I thought I'd give this game a try as well. I play mostly computer games, and it's sometimes difficult to adapt to using a controller to aim, but picking up some of the perks makes it a bit easier to play as you progress through the game. So far, it seems like it has a decent story, and the quests aren't boring. The acting and animation quality can be spotty at times, but overall the game looks pretty fantastic. Decent open world game, an awful lot of icons on the map though, and far too much crafting for my taste. I'm mostly interested in where the story goes.
