Netflix has come out with some of the best original programming in recent years. Of these shows, House of Cards is the best. The political drama showcases spectacular performances from the always great Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright. The entire 1st season being available on DVD for $20 is an easy way for anyone wanting to see this magnificent show to see what all the fuss is about. The price for this show is more reasonable than just about any other TV series i can think of. Definitely worth it.

U.S. Rep. Francis Underwood of South Carolina starts out as a ruthless politician seeking revenge in this Netflix original production. Promised the post of Secretary of State in exchange for his support, his efforts help to ensure the election of Garrett Walker to the presidency. But Walker changes his mind before the inauguration, telling Underwood he's too valuable in Congress. Outwardly, Underwood accepts his marching orders, but secretly he and his wife Claire, an environmental activist, make a pact to destroy Walker and his allies. As the series progresses, Underwood ascends through the ranks of the government -- until his death, at which point Claire gains power. Based on the U.K. miniseries of the same name, the U.S. version offers a look behind the scenes at the greed and corruption in American politics. A number of real-life media figures make cameo appearances.

I have greatly enjoyed watching this series, intrigue and political dirty tricks.

There is a rumour that a group of Congressional aides gather every week to watch House of Cards and discuss the show. I can only imagine what is talked about and what is fact or fiction but I just hope that what we are watching in House of Cards is make believe. The acting cast is phenomenal and the best part is when Kevin Spacey engages the audience with these sideways commentaries about what is going on and why the action is following a certain direction. It's like a tutorial on Machiavellian politics. I put this on by accident one day and now I'm hooked on House of Cards.

I enjoy buying TV or Cable series on DVD at a good price. Good bang (hours of watching) for the buck. This was reasonably priced and really surprised me how good it was. It has a great plot, acting and cinematography. I head something about it getting good reviews but was not expecting to be as entertained as I was with the series. Each episode outdid the previous one. Anything goes in Washington. I would recommend buying it and may join Netflix to see it next season before it comes out on DVD.

Wish the series was on something other than Netflix but worth the price for the DVD's. Spacy is as always great. He brings his character to another level. One problem that I have is how the DVD's are packaged. They are in cardboard sleeves and in doing so they get scratched very easily. Two of mine were scratched when I took them out of the sleeves. Very poor idea whoever it was that came up with it.

This show grabs you by the throat and just keeps surprising you the entire way through. The level of selfish manipulation is shocking, and that's part of the charm.. It's honestly the first show I have really enjoyed that is based entirely on greed. The acting is impeccable (Whenever Kevin Spacey gives the camera one of his glances I chuckle). Robin Wright is fantastic as his 'just as manipulative' counterpart.

I can't wait until Netflix drops season 3. It comes out sometime this month. This is a great show...the scoring is good and the story-line is very interesting. Kevin Spacey is amazing and his wife in this show is hot. The wheeling and dealing and southern charm make for a hell of a character in Frank Underwood. For me, House of Card is not only a must see, but a must have in your collection.

Who would of thought a show about politics could be so interesting? Spacey and the entire cast are perfectly cast. Sox, backstabbing, and all out vicious. Makes you realize. politics are likely more corrupt than we could possibly imagine. I realize the show is a little over the top, but makes you realize that there are many reasons why government no longer works on behalf of the common man.

I was riveted to the first season and have subsequently purchased the 2nd and third seasons. Spacey has created a jewel with incredible performers in a believable setting. It seems at times to almost be a documentary. If you have not seen this you have missed a great production. Be sure to watch in sequence as it is sequential... ENJOY AND CONGRATULATIONS TO KEVIN SPACEY

We're late comers to the House of Cards fan club, and not netflix subscribers, but after getting this as a Christmas gift, we found ourselves wanting to watch episode after episode but also not wanting to run out them. So we bought season 2. Episodes are dependent on having seen previous episodes but since they are addictive, so you won't mind starting at the beginning.

This 13 episode (s) season is one of the best drama I have seen to date. Kevin Spacey's charismatic and devious portrayal of a congressman, leaps through no bounds. He will not stop for anyone or anything to get what he wants. I suggest if you are looking for a show that will place you on a train of deception, mystery, and explicit emotional abandon; this is a show to watch.

I had no desire to watch this series because I'm not a fan of political dramas. But once I gave it a try at my sister's urging, I was hooked! Kevin Spacey & Robin Wright are absolutely fantastic in this series. The plots are well written and the characters are so deep and thought out. I absolutely cannot wait for the next show to watch.

This show is an overall must-see. I breezed through the first season in less than a week (a few days actually) and I cannot wait to watch season two and three. Priced at only $20 for the bluray version made it an even better purchase. I definitely recommend this show to anyone who enjoys a sincere but interestingly dark drama.

I've given this as a gift to a couple people Normally not something I do with shows as individual tastes are not always easy to predict. However everyone enjoyed it so much they went beyond season 1 and watched the rest of the series to catch up and are now fans , hooked to this terrific show

I am the absolute last person to indulge in political entertainment, but I love this show. It's not about government politics and more than politics behind the scenes. The show isn't out to make a political statement or persuade voters, which I appreciate. It allows you to truly be aware of how brilliant Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright (and supporting cast) are in this production. It's further proof of how Netflix can live up to HBO in dominating the TV landscape. After watching a show like this, most network shows will struggle to satisfy.

Coming off of Breaking Bad and Fargo, this is an EXCELLENT drama series. I would recommend just buying the series instead of getting a Netflix subscription. This way, you actually OWN the series instead of paying the same price to RENT it for a month. Outstanding performance by Kevin Spacey.

I always thought politicians were corrupt but Frank Underwood takes it to a whole another level. He lies, deceives and even kills to gain power and status as Vice President. Wonderfully written and Kevin Spacey does a scarily good job at playing a man who will stop at nothing to get what he wants.

Great show. Plots unlimited and they do not always work out the way you expect. This show is not the figment of someone's imagination. It is based on what you can actually observe in D.C., only in a much faster time line.

This show is one of the best ever shown! Netflix has hit the jackpot with this superb show starring Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright. The first season is incredibly and very addictive! The DVD set has all the episodes plus some extras. Bought on sale, definitely worth the price!
