To start off, I've never owned or even ridden a scooter before. When an opportunity to get this scooter presented itself I was pretty hesitant because I live in a pretty hilly neighborhood and the surrounding city around me is crowded and pathways aren't the smoothest. But, after some convincing from my husband, we decided to give this product a go. With the couple nice days of Spring weather, this thing has been a lot of fun to test out and I am actually glad we added this "gadget to the mix of things.
Upon delivery, you'll first notice the box is pretty heavy and cumbersome. I was a little surprised considering it's supposed to be a fairly compact scooter. Once I unboxed it, the scooter itself was pretty easy to assemble. You pretty much only need to attach the handlebars and you only need a hex wrench which they include. I will say, I did have a little bit of a hard time getting the screws screwed in all the way. For some reason it felt like they weren't lining up with the holes completely. I ended up giving up on trying to screw them in completely, but made sure everything was secure and still stable.
Admittedly, when I get a new device of any kind I'm a "figure it out a long the way" type of person, but because I've never actually used a scooter before I decided to read the manual from front to back and I highly recommend doing that because there's a few things that I wouldn't have thought of or known had I not read it. The manual notes that the scooter shouldn't be used in wet conditions, or on uneven surfaces and it suggests fully charging it before using it the first time. It didn't take very long to charge, maybe an hour or less than that and I was good to go.
Now the fun part...testing it. Not going to lie, it was a little hard finding a relatively flat, dry and uncrowded area where I live. My husband and I ended up going to a local park and it worked out well. There are 4 actual settings to the scooter. The first one you can go up to 3mph, the second one goes to 9mph, third one 15mph and fourth one 20mph. I worked up slowly to the fourth setting and boy is it a thrill once you reach 20mph. It feels like you're flying. All you have to do is give yourself a push and push down the throttle and away you go. I accidentally pushed the throttle down the whole way the first time and it gives you a bit of a kickback which startled me. I recommend gradually pushing down the throttle to build up to the speed you want. Overall, the ride is incredibly smooth. I weigh 130 pounds and and felt very stable and sturdy on it. My husband weighs about 185 and said the same thing. This scooter is very well made and doesn't feel cheap in any sense.
Once I got used to riding this thing, it was a lot of fun. The only thing that takes some getting used to is going around corners or in a loop. Cutting the wheel is a little hard and can make you feel off balance for a little. I've tested the brake plenty enough and it's very solid in stopping you, even when going the maximum speed. I wouldn't completely pull the brake though, I feel like you could easily go flying forward if you tried to abruptly stop. I would consider investing in a helmet honestly.
All in all, this thing is pretty fun. It's convenient to put in the car and go and I can see myself taking this with me on vacations or camping if the conditions are right. It also helps get my husband outdoors. He can use the scooter and I can rollerblade. A win win to me!

The Hover-1 - H-1 Pro Series Ace R450 Foldable Electric Scooter is so much fun! It folds up easily and has a kickstand to store it when not in use. The app was easy to install and when synched with the scooter, you can adjust the settings and speed with your phone. There are 4 different speed settings: walk, eco, drive and sport. Walk is the slowest (about the speed of someone walking), then it gets faster. Sport is the fastest that can go up to 25 mph. There is also a setting to push start or automatically start the scooter. I would suggest using the push start setting as the scooter has quite the take off speed and if you’re not ready, the scooter might get away from you. There is also a light on the front which can be turned on or off. I tried it at night and it is quite bright lighting up the street well. There is also a red light on the back. This is great for riding at night or dusk as it makes the scooter seen easily. I love that it has a bell too! Charging the scooter is very easy and when connected to your phone, you can see the percentage the battery has left.
Overall, this scooter is a lot of fun and goes pretty fast. The battery seems to last pretty good for going around the neighborhood, but not how sure it would last long enough for long rides.

I was kind of skeptical before I received this just what I was getting, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. It is not some cheap plastic version of a scooter, this is very well made but has a few flaws, hence the 4 star rating.
My son is a sophomore in college and was spending more in those electric scooters you see on college campuses than he was on off-campus food, so when I had the opportunity to receive this I jumped on it. Again it is very well made but the few flaws that I “dinged” it one star for is that you have to be very careful and Hover points this out in the owners manual of pinch points when you are closing or folding the scooter. Even though I was warned and I warned my son it has happened to both of us so be careful when collapsing it. The second flaw is when you install the handle bars onto the main frame you have to be EXTREMELY careful of not damaging the wiring that runs through the tube to the charger, one part of the wires are exposed and are very flimsy, I pinched them and just felt uncomfortable that I had damaged them so before I inserted the six screws I pulled it back off and put electrician’s tape around the exposed area, all of the other is contained in a black casing.
As far as performance I must say this is by far one of the best scooters on the market. It has 4 speed settings that you change by the power button, S is for sport mode and in sport mode this scooter will FLY!!! The manual says 32 KM/H (roughly 19.5 mph) I have an app on my phone that lets me know how fast we are going when we are on our golf cart and I used that as I rode this scooter and I hit 20.7 mph. D mode is for Drive mode and I hit around 15 mph consistently in drive mode. Eco mode is E and it’s more of a battery saver mode and I consistently was around 10 mph. Finally you have P mode which stands for walk mode and it did not register on my phone which means it’s below 5 mph. My son informed me that if he is on campus and goes to the library or to the gym that he will sometimes ride in S mode “just for the fun of it” but when its busy w/ class change that he uses it more in E or P mode so he can navigate the people. It really does save him time getting to classes and me $ on not having those $5 to $10 charges to our credit card.
I really wanted to give this scooter a five star rating due to its impressive feel of how its built but those two areas of having to be very careful folding this up when he is at the building he has class at and having to take his time not to be pinched and that one design flaw that they could have encased the entire wiring system in the black casing would have been the key.
I recommend wearing a helmet at all times but especially when operating this scooter in Sport and drive modes. The light at night is very bright and lights the way of where you are headed and the taillight is very visible from behind the scooter. It is sleek, and comfortable to ride, I forgot to mention that my son is 7’ 1/4 tall and the other scooters we had looked at that cost far more money that the Hover-1 did not seem comfortable to him w/ his height, the Hover-1 is PERFECT.
I would highly recommend this scooter

First I was shocked at the size of this scooter. I don’t know why I was expecting it to be the size of a scooter when I was a kid haha and should have expected more from seeing other electric scooters around the city. But it’s a hefty scooter. The upside to this is that it feels pretty sturdy overall. Mostly metal and hard plastic with rubberized cushions feel quality. I struggled to get the handle lined up with the screw mounts so one of them doesn’t go flush all the way. Mildly annoying.
It’s a fun ride though. I’m not used to riding an electric scooter and was surprised and a little intimidated by the acceleration power on the stronger D and S settings. I recommend starting with the E mode until you can get a better feel for it. As mentioned before, it is heavy so it picks up speed fast going downhill.
Speaking of hills, it super struggles going up any significant hill. The specifications recommend keeping it to 15* or less, which isn’t much wiggle room. If you have any kind of significant hills in your neighborhood or riding area, expect to be pushing this chonk up the hill or assisting with your foot.
One thing I don’t think is the super ultra glossy display screen. It shows any amount of oil on your fingers very clearly and I found myself constantly wiping the screen clean because that bothered me.
The handbrake functions well and there seems to be a nice shallow increase on the thumb accelerator that allows you to temper the acceleration and power. Overall I’m very excited to have this scooter!

A great simple scooter

This is a great basic scooter that is best suited for subdivisions, small towns, short trips, riding around the campground, etc. The 20 mile range is decent and I had no issues getting that amount of miles out of a charge. When it arrived, and I opened the box, it was simple to assemble the scooter. I only had to attach the handlebars to the steering column. All tools and hardware were provided. I then let the battery get fully charged up before I took it on its first trip. The instruments are basic, but provide all the info that you need. There is only a rear brake on this model and it is only rear wheel drive. When transporting or storing the scooter, it folds up nicely and the column latches into the rear wheel fender. There are several different modes for battery life, but most people will leave it in the fastest mode as the other two modes really slow it down. Overall, this is a basic scooter and will not compete with the other faster, bigger battery powered, all wheel drive models out there.

Our son has a Hover electric hoverboard, so we thought we would see what the scooter brought to the table. Turns out, not a whole lot.
This is a heavy beast. And by heavy, I mean having some type of handle, or at least handle cutouts in the box would be nice. Don't expect to move this by yourself for a long distance. As such, unpacking was cumbersome, as the unit is folded in half and twisted, so you have to unpack the whole thing all at once.
Assembly shouldn't have been as difficult as it was. Even though the only thing required was to insert the handlebars into the downtube and tighten six screws, it was almost impossible to get the holes lined up enough to start the bolt threads. Then, once they were started, one of the bolts was very tight almost immediately. I took it out, swapped it, and did everything I could to satisfy myself I wasn't just cross-threading it. I wasn't, but it took a lot of effort to screw in.
After assembly, I took stock of the situation. As stated before, it's heavy, and it looks heavy. Even though the battery pack is under the footboards, it's a big scooter, with none of the small, light feel that traditional scooters have. But, it's not all bad. The handlebars are comfortable, with the brake and throttle falling naturally into position. The footboard is wide, so even someone like me with size 11.5 feet can stand comfortably while riding. The weight limit of 260 pounds is also nice because I can swap out rides with my son. The tires have a good grip, and they're big enough to soak up some decent changes in the terrain. An LED headlight and taillight are nice touches, although it seems like the headlight only comes on when the scooter is in 'walking' mode.
Speaking of modes, the operation is straightforward, though it does take some getting used to. Foot power is required to get up to a certain speed before the thumb throttle is activated, and using the throttle sparingly until both feet are onboard is required. I would suggest starting in 'Eco' mode, as there is definitely less power available. Full-throttle in 'Sport' mode will allow you to easily pop a wheelie if you're not prepared. On a crushed-asphalt driveway, speed ramps up smoothly, and it's a comfortable ride, but, anything off-road, even a freshly mowed lawn, will drastically cut down on speed as it fights to keep going. The hand brake should be used well ahead of time, as I found myself having to squeeze much harder, much quicker, than I would have liked. Riding it is definitely fun, and I can see the appeal.
My son wasn't such a big fan. He expressed several concerns, among which were the acceleration being so quick that he felt unsafe. Keeping in mind the the recommended age is 16 years, he would be more than ready for this product by the time he reaches 16. At 11, he needs some more practice to improve his confidence but I think he will get there.
Overall, I'd give it a positive recommendation, with caution. It's not for beginners, and, given the brand and our history with its products, I'd be careful about making sure the warranty is in place.

Near perfect electric scooter

I'm normally a little hesitant to hop on the electric scooters in the downtown area of my city. Too many cars, a lot going on, I'm not the most comfortable in THAT area riding an electric scooter. Taking the Hover-1 H-1 Pro Series Ace R450 outside of that area, I was pretty comfortable and and it turned out to be a pretty solid scooter short of perfection due to some small nitpicks.
Assembly of the R450 scooter was super simple. It basically comes preassembled with you only needing to attach the top end of the front with the handlebars. After that it was set to go. It came pre-charged, but I plugged it up to charge anyway. One of my few gripes with the scooter is the charger feels kinda cheap for something so big and heavy. The flimsyness of the charge makes me nervous regarding it's long-term ability to last with the scooter.
As far as the experience riding it, the scooter really gets up. On what felt like flat land I was somehow able to get it up to 30 mph! I was in a 20 mph zone and had to slow down! The handlebars and scooter felt stable while I was riding. Originally the handle bars felt loose and moved around a lot, then I realized I hadn't locked the front bar in place (read the directions. There's ample room for you feet on the scooter, I have 2 size 13 feet, so the average person should have no problem.
Another minor gripe. A few times I folded the scooter up, the handle bars didn't lock down in to the backend of the scooter. So when I went to pick it up it opened itself back up. I'm pretty sure I hard the handle bars click down. I'll continue to monitor that.
Overall, the Hover-1 H01 Pro Series Ace R450 is a great scooter. A few minor gripes, but overall I'd recommend it to anyone in the market for one.

My New Obsession is Making the Neighbors Jealous

I have never really been into scooters. Partly because as an adult, I couldn’t find one sturdy enough for an adult. The other problem was they always seemed to be for kids. With the Hover Ace R450 Scooter though, I have found a whole new way to have fun.
The scooter comes built for the most part. Once you take it out of the box, the only thing that you will need to do is attach the handlebars. There are 6 screws that must be used to do this. They require a hex wrench which is included. I did have a light problem in attaching the handlebars. There are wires which must be tucked inside the fixture. When I did this, it caused the power to short out. I had to remove the handlebars and reattach them. Once I did this, it corrected the problem. The lesson learned here was before securing the handlebars, just check that the power is working.
After that, the guide suggests that you make sure the scooter is fully charged before using. There is some charge there, so it should not take that long to get to a near full charge. In the meantime, you can set up the companion app that is used with the scooter. The app can be set up on either an Apple or Android phone. The app allows you to change abilities on the scooter, view your activity, or even lock your scooter.
However, the real reason to get the scooter is for its performance. The scooter has 4 primary settings. There is walk which restricts speed to 3 mph. The economy mode allows you to go as fast as 9 mph. Drive allows you to go as fast as 15 mph. Lastly there is speed which allows you to go 20 mph. Other features include a headlight and taillight in case you want to use the scooter at night.
I have never really used scooters previously. Getting up and going on this was easy though. The scooter is very stable. I would expect few would have trouble controlling it. It is very comfortable to ride. The front shock absorbers make the ride smooth, and the braking system allows you to stop quickly. I mostly leave it in either economy or drive. At these speeds you get where you want to go, but you don’t feel out of control. The 450 W motor responds quickly. If you push the throttle all the way forward, it can jerk you a bit. But it is easy to get used to. Turning is smooth too. You must make sure not to cut the wheel too sharply at speed, but the learning curve is small.
The scooter can take weight up to 264 pounds, so it is good for nearly everyone. The 25-mile range is also very impressive. The documentation on charge time seems to be different, but I found 8 hours is about right to fully charge it. I usually just plug it up overnight, and I am ready to go the next day.
I have found I like to use this for small trips around the neighborhood. I use it to check my mailbox each day. I used to hate to walk to the mailbox. With the R450, it has become fun. I just hop on and go.
In the end, I really enjoy the Hover H-1 Pro R450 Scooter. I never thought I would like scooters, but this has completely changed my mind. This is not your kids’ scooter. This is one made for adults. I highly recommend this scooter for anyone looking for a bit of fun and wanting a scooter.

A lot of new "E" gadgets - I had to get one to see what all the hype was about! My wife has a "E" Bike, but since I refuse to give up my regular bike, this was the next option.
Before I go any further - if you're a clutz like me, wear a helmet - you'll save yourself from a hole in the head. As far as elbow and knee protection - that's up to you, but I'm guessing some that are typically worn for rollerblading would do you well. I just wish I had thought that out before I skinned myself up pretty good (several times).
Out of the box, assembly was a breeze - just attaching the handlebars and you're pretty much set.If you can handle an Allen Wrench you're golden.
I let it charge overnight and took it for a spin in the morning when there weren't many people on the road in my neighborhood - plus less people to see me crash :-)
I'm at the upper limit of the weight recommendation for this scooter, so I wasn't disappointed when I couldn't get the full speed out of it unless I had a REALLY STRONG gust behind me or doing downhill. Range was a little cut down as well - again - I wasn't expecting a miracle, as I'm a big guy!
LOADS of fun, I just wished it didn't take a full 8 hours to charge and wish the range were just a little longer - I could save a LOT of money on gas and just ride this to work!
Definitely a neat toy to get me out of the house and spin around the neighborhood on with my wife on a nice evening - strongly recommended!

I have been riding Hover-1 scooters for a few years and decided to ‘upgrade’ to this pro series R450. It is a lot ‘beefier’ than the standard scooter that I am used to. It is taller and has a wider base which is great for the adult rider. It has 10" self-sealing tubeless tires, so you don’t have to worry too much about puncture issues. By comparison, my other scooters have standard air-filled tube tires and I have had to replace them twice in two years due to flats. Although the R450 has suspension, it is still not as smooth as tubed tires and it noticeably bumpy on sidewalks. The digital display is top notch, showing battery, current speed mode, distance traveled. There are 4 speed settings, but unfortunately is locked at a max speed of 20mph which is unfortunate for what they call a ‘pro series’ scooter. The speed acceleration is peppy upon takeoff and quicky reaches top speed. One feature that I am fond of is the ability to link with the phone app for additional customization. Using the app, you can ‘lock’ the scooter, which will prevent the rear wheel from moving which may deter theft. One major negative for me is the lack of speed control on the right handlebar. To switch speed settings (walk, eco, drive, sport), you press the main power button in the center console, which would require you to remove your right hand off the handlebar and could be dangerous in the middle of a ride. Overall though, I am pleased with this scooter and it has become my main driver over my other Hover-1 scooters.

The H-1 Pro Series Ace R450 is built upon a durable aluminum alloy frame. Its 450W motor gives it the power it needs to be able to reach a top speed of 20 mph and accelerate with purpose...... it is FAST! The dual front shock suspension system absorbs impacts while riding, keeping you stable and comfortable. The 10” self-sealing tubeless tires are super durable and can withstand terrain that is rough. The scooter goes up to 25.6 miles of range for those longer distance rides. You can view your current speed, speed mode, battery level, odometer, and more from the LED display.
Out of the box all that is required for assembly is installing 6 screws into the handle bars and charging the battery (which took kinda a long time). The app can be downloaded and allows you to set features to your liking and lock the scooter which is a great feature! The scooter folds easily for storage or carrying. The battery is not removable and is located on the bottom of the scooter. The brakes are sensitive and only the back single wheel brakes using the handle. It takes a little practice to get the hang of riding it if you have never used one before but overall should be very easy for most adults.
