Perfect size and weight. Plus, great battery life. Takes very little time to start up and then runs fast. My only hang-up is that chromebooks in general do not work with older printers.

Excellent chromebook. Works very well, good size, lightweight, intuitive, perfect for remote learning. It does get a bit hot, but I never felt like it was at a dangerous or worrisome temperature.

Serves its purpose and works fantastic especially for the low price. Purchased primarily for child's homework. We've had zero issues and had this now a year and a half.

This little laptop is extremely reliable. If I could I would give it 4.5 stars. The only thing I don't like about this laptop is that you can't download things to it (i.e games, programs etc) but I knew that when I got it. So hey. Other than that, for 7 YEARS this laptop has held it DOWN. I have dropped it, spilled liquid on it, not charged it for weeks - still working. Now finally after 7 years it gives me a hard time turning it on. However, after 7 years, any laptop would need at least a new battery or something so I'm not complaining. If you need a good, cheap laptop this is the way to go.

I was looking for an inexpensive Chromebook mainly so that I could use Chrome Remote Desktop to remotely log into my desktop and code in bed or anywhere in the house. I haven't found a good way to do this with my iPad. I also wanted the Chromebook to edit documents with more mobility as well. The Chromebook fits the bill for my main intended uses. I haven't yet tried SSH apps, which will be another use.
I was hesitant to get an HP due to bad experiences with my previous two HP Windows laptops. I went ahead and tried the HP Chromebook, largely based on the price point. I'm not disappointed at all. Everything is surprisingly responsive. Even when I have a bunch of Chrome browser tabs open, the machine doesn't get bogged down.
The display is better than I expected, especially in terms of resolution. The picture changes significantly with viewing angle, but you can only expect so much at this price point.
Ergonomics are decent. I wish there were actually trackpad buttons for left and right clicking, but it's not too bad, once I disable the 'tap to click' option, which for me results in too many spurious clicks. I don't understand the giant left-alt key, as it seems like better use of that keyboard space could have been made. Still, the keyboard has a good feel to it, and it has a pretty good size choice and placement for all of the keys.

The lowest priced new Chromebook

I got this Chromebook for mainly one reason, to experiment with Linux. It was about the lowest new Chromebook I could find. It wouldn't break the bank if I happen to trash it. As a regular Chromebook it works okay not spectacularly but okay. It's pictures are lacking contrast, especially noticeable when you use an external monitor.
You should read up about external monitors for use of Chromebooks because they make Chromebooks much more useful as it does with this one.
Even if this HP Chromebook is using older components, I don't think you'll find much to complain about other than picture quality. The sound quality is good and it behaves itself. It isn't hard on the battery either!
But getting back to the reason I bought this, it was to use Linux, and the 10 GB area reserved for it will probably serve many users purposes. I am just using the in-house Crostini to run what I really want. For example Firefox does not work well in Chrome but works fine in Linux. You can use the office suite, Libre, with more privacy then I think you'll get with Google docs and you aren't charged anything like Microsoft office! One of these days when I want to experiment with something wild, this will probably be the Chromebook I'll use. Crostini is designed to behave well, in fact extremely well in conjunction with Chrome.
Just one little problem, while this Chromebook is set to use Linux you may have to use the search function to find Linux but then once you tap on Linux it should appear on the appropriate menu--but it will not automatically install! It's the only Chromebook I have that the install didn't work as advertised, including on a fancier 14" HP Chromebook.
You will probably have to use the commands:
sudo apt-key adv --refresh-keys --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y
The first line is not needed in probably most other Chromebooks. See!

I'm certainly glad I ran into the above article.
Anyway, considering it was the lowest price Chromebook I could find that was new, it is serving its purpose. It is certainly well constructed. It didn't cost an arm and a leg either.

I purchased this because both my kids were arguing over the other chromebook we have and due to COVID and working from home, it was annoying. So I purchased this to keep the peace and now I hardly ever see my son leave his cave. The battery lasts a pretty long time because he only comes out when it dies (not sure why he doesn't just leave it plugged in) after hours of Youtube, TickTok, and God knows what else. He hasn't complained that its too slow, buffers too much, in fact he hasn't complained about it at all, which is a miracle and a blessing. With the continuation of 'homeschooling' when school starts again next month, this should assist in google classroom, assuming he gets out bed to attend.

I bought the product for my father because normal computer is too complicated for him. He used to have an older model that broke down a few weeks ago. I let him use my laptop which I believe to be much better in term of specs. However, it's too complicated for him so I bought him this laptop instead since he only use youtube and browse the internet. My laptop is also 15.6" and last only 4 hours since it's a gaming laptop. This laptop is smaller so he can bring it any where he wants and last more than 8 hrs. So, I really happy that he enjoy his new chromebook.
