I LOVED THIS COMPUTER until I learned it's a shiny piece of junk months later after it became frustrating to use.
-Youtube or other streaming services stutter bad. Like it gets stuck on a frame for extended periods of time. It's like watching on a bad internet connection (despite the connection being fine. Seems like the computer just can't handle it.)
-Runs out of battery WHILE THE CHARGER IS CONNECTED. I guess the charger is incapable of sustaining the power required to run the machine because it dies while using it plugged in. I've never had a computer do that before. I mean I'd be okay if it died really quickly while not being plugged in, that I can deal with. But dying while it's plugged in?!
-Type something, no response. 20 seconds later every thing I typed pours on to the screen. I guess the processor can't handle some computer-heavy task like... text input.
The computer looks great and it's light weight and could be really awesome, but eventually I just went back to my 4 year old windows laptop I got for $300 back in 2011. It's being held together with duct tape but still provides a much more satisfactory experience than my HP 11.
Also, I am fairly good at solving problems on my computer and I trouble shot everything I listed above on the support forums/etc. I am convinced there's nothing to fix as the hardware just can't handle basic usage like this. Plain and simple. Avoid this junk and get a better/uglier chromebook.

I do not use Verizon (and never will...) so I bought it for wi-fi use since that is what Best Buy had in stock and on display to try before I bought. I run a business and am in the middle of converting email, docs and storage of company files to Google in the cloud. I literally wanted a "Google Only" experience and you get that here 100%, plus more (Netflix etc).
The first thing I noticed was the hp screen looked the best and had the truest color (I pulled up my own website on each one and I am intimately familiar with how it translates on other screens). Very rich appearance which I really appreciate.
The build quality feels sturdy enough (the case feels somewhere between a regular laptop and one of those $100 netbooks), the keyboard is solid and I really dig the mouse. Once you get used to the "secret handshakes" of Chrome (finger swipes, right clicking etc) it feels intuitive and fast even compared to a standard mouse. The audio is also surprisingly good and loud for such a small device.
Logging into Google meant that my Chrome info sync'd right up with all my passwords and bookmarks so it suddenly felt like home to me. There wasn't really any "setup" for me beyond that as I am already sync'ing my desktop Chrome browser with my Google account. Beyond that I just kind of tossed Netflix on it and while it was a little quirky on this machine, it worked fine.
Keep in mind many "apps" are just shortcuts / bookmarks, and I don't really utilize many of them.
I don't do video chat etc so cannot comment there.
If you are a dedicated Google user and already rely on Chrome as your main browser, I think this machine is already made for you.

I had originally bought this for school and for normal uses but wasn't impressed. It works fine for just normal browsing but isn't very fast. The charge doesn't last for more than 2 hours and sometimes the charger won't even work! One plus is it is very light and portable but other than that it's definitely not a good fit for me.

Hello. My power connector also failed, seeing that only one other person had this problem It is true that the power connector is very fragile. I have had this for maybe a little over a year now and have thought that it was my charger adapter that have been the problem since a lot of reviews online mentioned that the adapter could over heat. I tried going into best buy to see if they could fix the problem but told me to contact the manufacturer instead which I already have THREE TIMES and it seems like no one is actually there to pick up phone calls nor answer emails. I loved the design and size to bits but it is not worth the short time of use. Now I am stuck with no computer for school work and not even a solution to the problem.

I bought this chrome book because it was cheaper than buying a newer I pad. It is small enough to fit in my purse and and it is convenient having the wireless service. I do a lot of research before I purchase computers and this was a good buy.

I had been looking for a bargain Chromebook with both 4G and wi fi for a couple of months. A week ago I see this one on the website for $99. Done deal! Looks like its back to 199 but still about same price as many CBs with no 4G.
If you've been using gmail and other Google products and are used to operating in the cloud, you will love this. There are still quite a few differences between my old Windows 7 laptop and this one that I'm getting used to.
Battery life seems to be about 5 hours or so which is less than what I see other CBs claim. I use mainly for email, web surfing, no games, no music yet.
No issues with charger. I have seen reviews saying it wouldn't stay connected. Not happening on mine. Plus it charges much quicker than other devices. And I can use the same charger for my phone. Very convenient.

New OS to try

I was looking to try out a chromebook and thought a touch screen Acer was for me. Then I remember always cleaning my tablets and phones. Went to BB and saw the 11 inch HP and how clear and sharp the display was. The display is most important touch or not. Took it home and have been working with it for a few days. The first thing I noticed is that Chrome OS is not designed for touch screens. The screen text and icons can be very small, which is good for getting lots of information like spreadsheets graphs and web pages on display, but is bad for fat fingers. The touch pad is big and responsive. I like the two finger touch is great for scrolling and navigation. There’s even forward and back keys for internet navigation.
I’ve decided to keep the HP Chromebook 11 and learn more about Chrome OS.

It has worked well over the months. But now we are having an issue with the charger not working. Who knows if this is just the kids rough use or an issue with the actual device!

!!! Stay away from this one!!!
I made the mistake of not doing enough online research before I picked this beautiful HP Chromebook. Worked perfectly until it ran out of battery. Didn't get it to charge for a few days until it suddenly began charging again. Kept it alive for a week and then I made a mistake letting it run out of battery. Hasn't charged since then. A brick.
Turned out that this is a very common problem with this model. Shame.
I also bought the Acer 720 model at the same time and that one works like a charm. A bit ugly but solid as a rock.

I highly recommend this product. I use it to edit websites, keep up with email, browse the web, in combination with Chromecast to view movies on my HD TV, pretty much everything. It is perfect for a business person on the fly. You can meet with a client, open it up, and it is literally on within seconds. I really like the feature that allows you to control your other computers, remote access. The Chromebook isn't made to handle heavy software (though you can do virtually anything online these days anyway), but when you need programs on any of your home/office computers, you can connect to those computers with your Chromebook. I can literally use my other computers using my Chromebook from anywhere with WIFI or a Verizon signal....in FULL SCREEN. This product is well worth $199.

Been an apple user for 12+ years, still am, but I'm liking this more and more. I use chrome and gmail - which makes this a perfect fit.
At $349 it's a great price compared to my iPad. You can't beat the cloud for storage. Overall I find this unit to be as described in the geek blogs.
Low learning curve for beginners! Be prepared to drive to get one ....
They seem to sell out.

I bought my laptop about 1 year ago and have had the battery stop working twice. Best Buy wouldn't let me return both times so I had to contact Google to fix the problem. I have had to exchange it twice and they would let me have a refund. The battery is horrible, you can't use many programs at a normal laptop, you can't use Skype, etc. I am a college student and have suffered a lot with this laptop since it does not use Microsoft. It also won't let me install many programs so it's basically like a tablet. I would not recommend this for a person who would like to use this laptop other than surfing the Internet. I am completely disappointed with this buy.

I would not buy this computer if I were you. After about two months, the power connector became intermittent. I had to wiggle it to get it to work. It kept getting worse, then finally it just quit working. The connector and jack are too small and very delicate. I thought about getting it repaired, but what is the point? It will just break again. The design is flawed. I am gentle with my electronics. I am a broadcast maintenance engineer by profession, so I know about such things. Get something with a hefty power jack and plug.
