Good entry level laptop for the money!

This is a good entry level laptop. Even though the ram is 4GB and the processor is a Celeron (older generation Intel), the hardware is married to Windows 11 S mode, which gives the battery a longer life between charges. Additionally, the internet download speed is quite good. Screen has good resolution, and the laptop is lightweight. Bear in mind that Windows 11 S mode restricts which apps can be installed (only apps from the Microsoft store are accessible). This increases the protection against viruses from downloaded apps. If you are looking for a laptop for basic streaming, Internet surfing and email, this laptop is a good deal, and can well serve basic needs. A good alternative to Chromebook, as well. A word of caution: Stay away from the temptation to switch out of S mode, as this may prevent you from being able to install additional apps as the storage is 64GB eMMC. It may slow the laptop down, as well. Otherwise, it is a good product!

    It does the job!

I bought this laptop when I started my online masters program in June. For the price, I think it does the job. All I really use it for is homework so, of course, I use the browser (Microsoft Edge is much faster than Google Chrome), Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. It's definitely slow when it comes to opening something but once you're in whatever app (the browser, Word, PP, etc), it's fine. It is also pretty lightweight and you can tell that its a cheap computer, but worth it if you can't afford or don't need to invest in a decent one.

I was going photograph a conference out of town, so I bought this primarily for the purpose of copying/transferring files from a photographic memory card to a portable hard drive in order to back up the images. The computer was cheaper than another 120 GB XQD card, and it allowed me at the same time the ability to upload the images for backing up online. I'm satisfied for the most part, but beyond what I used it for, it has very little space on its hard drive for any applications. After only a year of sporadic use, I found it to slow considerably for even the simplest of tasks. I've used it recently only to transfer terabytes of images from one hard drive to another, and occasionally for email or web browsing when I'm away from my desktop.

Ultimately not enough memory for my needs.

recently purchased the HP 14" Laptop with an Intel Celeron processor and 4GB of memory. Overall, I have mixed feelings about this product, and one major drawback for me is the insufficient amount of memory. The laptop itself has a decent size and is compact enough for easy portability. The Intel Celeron processor provides adequate performance for everyday tasks such as web browsing, document editing, and multimedia consumption. Additionally, the 14" display offers a clear and vibrant viewing experience. However, the limited 4GB of memory is a significant downside. As a purchaser, I require a laptop that can handle multitasking and run multiple applications simultaneously without lag or slowdowns. Unfortunately, with only 4GB of memory, this laptop falls short in meeting my requirements. It struggles to handle resource-intensive tasks or run software that demands more memory, resulting in frustrating delays and decreased productivity. Furthermore, the laptop lacks sufficient storage space for my needs. With limited memory, I expected that the device would compensate with a more generous storage capacity. However, this was not the case, and I found myself running out of storage quickly, even with minimal files and applications installed. On the positive side, the laptop does provide a reliable battery life, allowing me to work or browse the web for a few hours without needing to constantly plug it in. It also offers a variety of connectivity options, including USB ports and an HDMI output, which is convenient for connecting external devices or displaying content on larger screens. In summary, while the HP 14" Laptop with an Intel Celeron processor has some commendable features, such as its portability and display quality, the insufficient 4GB of memory and limited storage space are significant drawbacks. As a purchaser, I would recommend considering alternative options that offer more memory and storage capacity, particularly for those who require a laptop for multitasking and resource-demanding tasks.

My boyfriend just bought this, since it was on sale. I didn’t think much of it, BUT this little laptop has a good processing speed. He bought it for his job, where he submits photos, does report reviews and make appointments . He is able to multi task on it . I would say up to 6 tabs before it starts processing a little slower, such as loads longer for documents or pages to load. It’s lightweight and a good size to fit in any tote/backpack . He carries it with him and the battery lasts a while. I would say this is a good purchase for anyone who needs it for basic needs, even to watch YouTube , movies or just browsing on the internet.

I’ve had this laptop since July 2023 so coming up on 2 years and it has served me well! I use it for work and have done trainings, lesson plans, use with multiple tabs open and it hasn’t disappointed. It can get a little slow and lag sometimes but glitches happen with any technology. The battery life is quite good as well. I forget to turn it off for days which isnt good on my end but the battery is preserved well so as long as you remember to turn it off when you’re done and take care of it it will last you. Using it for video calls and interviews has also been good. I would recommend for those who need a laptop for practical use but are on a budget as I was when I bought it, it will last you if you take care of it right!

The setup took forever, but I customize quite a bit. The CPU and RAM have enough for my 11 year old to play Roblox and YouTube and such, but it's way too slow for what I'd be doing and I'd imagine not near enough for high-end gamers. But for what I bought it for, for a kid, it's good enough.

It worked well for what I needed it to until Windows/Microsoft kept inflating the storage and memory with it’s bloatware that they call “software updates”. Upon startup as well as trying to do anything simple online, it would freeze or lag constantly with Task Manager reporting that 90% of the CPU and 98% of the 4GB of RAM was being used but unable to report on what was actually taking up all the space. I also experienced storage hardware issues where it would say the storage was full or nearly full while, again, being unable to report what was taking up so much room. I intend on replacing it with a laptop that’s much more capable.

Runs smoothly. Sometimes has connection hiccups but nothing too bad. Battery life lasts but if you use while charging it takes longer to finish, doesn't hold as long when done. For the price its good and helps with small daily tasks.

I bought this mainly to check my emails and watch online tutorials while I'm travelling. It's not a gaming laptop by any means, but it's nice enough for its intended purpose. You might want to consider something with more RAM and faster processing speeds if you plan to do more than watch tutorials or Netflix. It's very lightweight, and the battery lasts a few hours when fully charged.

Too slow, not enough usable memory

Bearing in mind that this is a very basic entry-level laptop, the performance of the HP dq3000dx was still a little disappointing for my needs. The price is very economical if you intend to use it for light tasks, like reading or sending an occasional email, or typing up a letter, or very light web surfing. I don’t recommend it for gaming or long video play because of the lagging and buffering I experienced. I’m sure the lag in overall performance is due to it only processing at 1.1 GHz and having 4GB of RAM, which isn’t that much in today’s world. Set up out of the box took about two and a half hours, but the majority of that time was updates installing. It comes with Windows S-mode, which I left alone instead of turning it off to be able to install other apps like I’d intended. I didn’t want to bog the system down any further. The white color of the casing is nice, and I like that the keyboard has a light wood grain look to it even though it’s plastic. I would prefer that the keyboard was backlit though because the keys are very difficult to see without light. I miss the numeric keypad also, but it didn’t surprise me that this laptop doesn’t have one. It’s great that HP included a USB C port, HDMI port, and an SD card slot in addition to the standard USB A ports and headphone jack. The laptop also comes with the typical HP power cord and port. Battery life seems to be averaging about 5-7 hours before needing a charge. I wasn’t able to get 12 hours of video playing like the specs say, but I’ll say that it has good battery life considering how slow the overall performance of the machine is. This laptop may be ideal for a younger child as a first computer or someone that may only need to get online periodically, but I don’t recommend it for anyone that doesn’t have a lot of patience.
