I hope this is just a defective laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this 5 days ago as an out-of-box laptop because the sales associate told me it was brand-new and had been inspected, but perhaps was returned because the customer wanted something higher-end. I have not transfered any files to this laptop yet, and it literally takes 5 minutes for the home screen to load once I log in. Additionally, it will not play DVDs. When I tried to play one yesterday, the laptop froze up and I had to restart it. I tried again 3 more times and got the same result. My old Packard Bell from 20 years ago that ran Windows 95 was way faster and more functional than this. I don't think I can get my money back, but I did purchase the store warranty, so I'm hoping the replacement will work better.

I wouldn't pay $10.00 fo another!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this computer for fun and for my grandson. No heavy duty work to be done. It is extremely slow, constantly freezes, and the screen size changes for no apparent reason! Even scrolling is a nightmare. Pages won't move or they jump way ahead. It's not my internet connection. My husband's laptop works great. My previous one did also. I have trouble even commenting on articles on websites without the ever present blue circle just spinning away! I would strongly steer anybody away from this particular model. I am deeply dissatisfied! I bought ANOTHER computer! I had to charge it! I am one unhappy customer!

Great laptop for school!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Basic laptop, but perfect for college. Lots of ports for various connections, no issues with setting up printer, dual display to monitor, and streaming videos-watching on TV.

Laggy, with problems right out of the box
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ultimately, I assume the main problems with this machine are bugs in Windows 10, but it still makes it too unpleasant to continue using. Something is going on that's causing ServiceHost groups to pin the disk usage and/or CPU at 100%, most of the time. The main culprit is ServiceHost:Unistack Service Group. Makes the machine randomly lock up. I'm going back Note that I doubled the RAM to 8GB; I ordered the RAM from Newegg the same day I bought the laptop at Best Buy. So I used it for about a week with and without the extra RAM. Made no difference. Laptop is going back tomorrow. I'm going to sit this out for another 6 months, hoping Windows 10 will get more stable. Other problems: - The advanced touchpad settings (e.g. multifinger touch, etc# won't stick through a reboot. I hate multifinger gestures #such as scroll), because they're constantly getting partially triggered by accident, making it seem like the touchpad is buggy. It's not, it just tries to do too much. I ought to be able to turn off the "too much", and I can, but I have to turn it off again every time I restart. I googled and found this to be a known problem for the Synaptics touchpad driver in Windows 10. One person gave registry edit as the supposed fix, but I didn't feel like messing it with because the laptop was going back anyway. - One of the answered questions for this item indicates that it can take up to 12GB of RAM. According to online chat with HP and the manual from HP, that's incorrect.

Disappointing.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I blindly purchased this laptop because of the insanely low price. Sadly, I found very little use for it. This computer will do you just fine if all you plan to do with it is schoolwork and online browsing. However, this laptop is unbearably slow at points. Even when your just browsing online it's a bit of a hassle. You could honestly do a lot better than this. Not ideal for HD movies.

Not Extremely High End, But it Works for the Kids
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It feels pretty solid in your hands. I like the way the keyboard feels as well. Comes with a pretty decent software bundle.

Decent Inexpensive Notebook
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Using for a field notebook that is considered disposable. Works well enough for internet & office documents in the field.

Pretty good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The laptop is pretty sold for the price. It's matte too, so you don't really get fingerprints. Not bad, recommend it.

Window 10 flaws
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased the computer 8/31/15. Nice computer but comes preinstalled with Windows 10. After long discussion with HP support about touchpad and sleep issues, found out from the support person the machine had "numerous" problems and issues running Windows 10. They have no idea when the problems will be corrected. The solution to the touchpad problem was to get a mouse. Do not buy this machine unless they can sell it with Windows 7 or 8.1 installed. The hardware is good, but Microsoft (and HP) are using real customers to beta the software.

BEYOND AWFUL
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop isn't worth more than $50 brand new. had it for a week. First off, windows 10 is a complete joke. This laptop wont even allow me to put windows 7 or vista on it. the touchpad mouse is horrible.. it decides to zoom in and out for no reason. my old Dell laptop I bought in like 2009 is smoother than this one. this laptop looks good, but I feel like I'm grinding a metal rake on a concrete sidewalk when I use it. I am going to return it and take my money and buy something else. I thought HP was a decent name brand- its not, its like a 96 Chevy cavalier that's being advertised as a Mercedes. Do yourself a favor and don't even consider this laptop. Waste of time and money. Internet surfing is so slow, my Samsung smartphone surfs the internet faster than this laptop.

Pure. Junk.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is slower than my 6 year old Toshiba. My husband worked side jobs to get the money to buy this for me so that I could go back to school. It is terrible. It freezes constantly. All I use is the internet and Microsoft Word and it can barely run that. I do not play games or anything like that. I never dreamed a laptop could be this useless. Don't waste your hard earned money on HP!!!!
