Upon receiving this computer I was shocked at how heavy it is. It was intended for my 12 year old daughter and I thought she would drop it for sure. As I opened the package I also noticed the wear and small imperfections. I was thinking the computer was refurbished but it had obviously been used for multiple months before being returned. I was not pleased with the weight or how rough this particular device was and ended up returning it to the store. The return process was very easy.

Ended up getting this computer for my daughter who needed more than a standard chrome book. Great speed and processor, overall good price and quality.

The laptop shipped faster than expected, but worked for less time than expected. I was able to boot the laptop up, and put in my Microsoft account info, typed in Firefox to the browser provided and the computer shut down, never to reawaken in my hands again. Battery cables checked and changed but no life was found. It came with a warranty from the refurbusher, but they told me there was nothing they could do because what was wrong wasn’t covered... but they would give me a refund. I was very confused because the warranty covered everything minus accidents for 12-18 months. But, I had already started the refund process with Best Buy because it would take geek squad months to see me and I didn’t want to jump through hoops for a computer that was already fairly old.

Wrong specs and bad battery

The first issue is that I didn't receive a computer with the same specs as listed. The one I ordered was supposed to have a core i5-2520m processor and 4 GB of Ram. Luckily, what I received was actually better, being a core i5-2540m and 8 GB of ram. I didn't even notice until 6 months after receiving this. This would be very concerning if I were to order another refurbished laptop.
Secondly, the battery was actually very good for about 4 months until the battery quit charging. Now the laptop can only run with the battery out and the charger plugged in.

Bad Battery

Upon recieving this computer I immediately found it would not run on battery. The computer runs fine on AC but says '0% battery, charging' indefinitely. Upon running HP diagnostics I found two of the cells in the battery are completely dead. This is a simple thing the refurbisher should have handled. More annoyingly now it seems I need to go through the refurbisher, not Best Buy, to get the problem sorted out.

I have many laptops above this price range, and this laptop is the best. Its old and bulky but its solid state drive! It outperforms 2 of my $800 laptops. And I bought it refurbished cheap! Can't recommend enough!
