I researched, as I always do, many models before buying this computer. It is quick and boots up from "off" logged into the desktop and into my browser and ready to go in under a minute even with the slower 5400rpm HD! It is even faster waking up from sleep mode. It is only a dual core but, the 16GB of RAM helps. Also, having the 17.3" screen is great. It may not be as portable as a 15" or smaller laptop but, my main use will be at home as a desktop computer anyway and I can still move it around and take with me if I really need to, unlike a desktop unit. I like it so much I bought the HP Envy 15.6" version with AMD FX Quad Core processor for portability. I will be reviewing that one later. I got into both computers for around $1600. I've been an HP user for close to 15 years now and have had great experience with all previous models some of which are still working today as I have passed them on to family and friends.

My laptop died after 5-6 years and needed a replacement. After researching for what I needed, this HP fit the bill in storage and Windows 10. It has been an easy transition and also has many of the older features I liked. It is one of the most powerful HP laptop available. I am satisfied with the purchase and recommend it for others.

I have always purchased cheap laptops and put money in to upgrade them. I love this guy for basic gaming and being able to stream my xbox one to this. It has been wonderful to have a laptop that doesnt need upgrading that has a good battery life a huge screen and an I7 and 16gb of ram to do whatever i want. Love this thing

I've tested over eight different models, brands over a period of two months and this one seemed to have all the features I need for the right price. Customer Service, very Professional and assisted me with my selection and final purchase. This computer will be used for home use, research and video editing. The size fits for what I need, the processor is fast, the graphics works well and the memory allows me to multitask with ease. Battery life averages with use around four and a half hours. The touch screen is a must with Windows 10 to really get all the benefits from this computer. The backlit keyboard is a joy to have and use. The computer stays on the cooler side which allows me to use on my lap without getting that burn feeling. This is my contender, maybe yours too. This was a gift for my husband, he's happy that makes me happy, recommended.

Fast, affordable, and more features than any other laptop in this price range. I looked at many laptops and actually returned a newly bought MacBook Pro because I think this laptop outshines it by far. The touchscreen is very responsive and I would highly recommend this one or the envy 15" which I own as well.

I use primarily for work replacing my 15.6 laptop. Large 17 in. screen and 16GB of memory are really great for working with multiple windows open. Weight was a concern but hasn't really been noticible from the 15.6. I rarely have it disconnected from AC but when I did it seemed like the battery didn't last long.

Overall this is a great medium level laptop for the 17.3 - 1080p market with a full 16 GB RAM and newer core i7 processor. Wish it had a VGA port in addition to the HDMI. As a long time Win 2000. XP, & 7 user who hated my wife's Vista and purposely skipped Win 8.x I have found Win 10 on this machine to be very decent and more like Win 7 than 8. Compatibility mode has worked for most older software installations. The laptop itself appears to be well made other than the DVD drive which make a noise instead of properly ejecting and requires manual intervention. Check your drive before you leave the store if you buy one of these.

First of all, the screen is simply beautiful, love the great HD graphics you get with the NVidia graphics card, the Intel i7 is a huge plus. great for running intense programs. The only downside is the weight, as it is a big heavy, but that's what happens when you have such a large and beautiful screen.

I came from an old xp machine so pretty much anything would be an upgrade. overall very satisfied with this rig but windows 10 is easier yet more difficult tot navigate and i had to already restore my rig once because of the menu/cortana bug. I thought with 16GB of ram and an i7 processor everything would be silky smooth. it is mainly but sometimes bogs done when switching between multiple apps. Is it the machine or a characteristic of windows 10? not sure as of yet. Battery life is what i was expecting of a screen this size. 2 hours with chiller pad, 3 without.overall i would make this purchase again.

Good speed accessing programs, web pages; touch screen works well; plenty of storage for all your pix, vids; big screen for viewing movies, etc.; nice to have DVD built in, but tray is very flimsy.

I bought this laptop to replace my old desktop and I'm very happy that I did. The large touchscreen is awesome and the new Windows 10 is very easy to navigate. Websites load very quickly and I can work on multiple things at one time. This computer does everything and then some!

I've had several HP's and was looking to upgrade again...so after reviewing many, decided this was it. Loved that Windows 10 came installed. Still getting used to the touchscreen, but coming along. Overall, a rock solid laptop and can do everything you need it to.

I wanted a lap top that could handle photoshop and storage of many photos, this laptop is fast and the 17" screen and back lit keys are great. The best buy sales people were very helpful and knowledgeable which helped me search for the best computer for my needs.

I wanted something more than a laptop to replace my PC, and this has done it. It does everything my desktop PC did and more and A LOT faster. Its big screen is what closed the deal, and now I feel like I have a portable PC.

my first time with 17.3 screen, which is great for me to watch movies, but I don't like windows 10, wish it's pre-loaded with win7.

Great computer and very easy to use with Windows 10. The battery only lasts around 4hrs. Computer is awesome with 1080p. The computer is not the fastest that i have seem but definitely one of the better ones out there. I would buy it again.

48 hours and I'm very happy. I had purchased 3 others in the past 6 months and had returned them for one reason or another - this one is a keeper so far. Enough power, easy raised keyboard (plus backlit when/if you want it), graphics are great. The boot time is fantastic. Loading applications and using them is very fast. There are enough applications loaded out of the box to get you where you want to go but not too many (like a box stores load). Windows 10 is what it is but HP has given enough options to where you can use the desktop on boot without having to search the web for boot options and such. I am very happy with the speed of this laptop and would suggest it if you are a speed freak - I'm not a gamer but it appears this would work as well as the comparable $2K gamer PC.

Large and heavy, but good desktop replacement. Very good screen image, bright with good colors. I assume part of this is due to the video card in the laptop as opposed to sharing memory. Only complaint is the touchpad is very stiff. Takes lot of finger pressure to activate. I may contact HP support to discuss to see if I have a problem with my laptop or normal for this laptop. One week after I bought the laptop, Best Buy had online sale price about $140 less than what I paid. I called them and they provided credit to my credit card to equal sale price.

the storage is AMAZING and I love the windows 10! It is user friendly with capability of your grandma being able to use it easily! :) The monitor size is HUGE and the quality of everything is amazing! worth every penny!

This computer is extremely fast and has great graphics with dedicated Video memory. I was not sure I wanted Windows 10 but it is much better than windows 8.1. The only downside was one week after I purchased my computer they came out with a new version that is exactly the same but the Item number is different. I was back to purchase a laptop for my daughter and saw the much lower price but the store would not refund the difference. I could only return the laptop I already bought and set up and buy a new one for over $150 less. This sounded great but I did not want to redo another new computer so I passed. I wish they would have just refunded the difference for me as the device was exactly the same. I was not happy about this.
